Jurassic Park:Origins are doing a prequel, it's been almost 2years in development but have seem to be doing a good job.

I've hoped from the beginning that they would do a sequel that is actually formed by the first one. The announcement of them returning to Isla Nublar has had my hopes for this sky-rocket. What if it has something to do with the original bad guys, who were trying to steal the DNA, returning to the island in an attempt to find the Barbasol can that Nedry dropped. The can had coolant in it, and it got buried in mud--so movie wise--the DNA could have been kept cold long enough. Plus, they can totally justify saying something like 'having a GPS chip hidden in the can' so they could find it if something went wrong. Then, in an attempt to stop these guys, who would know the main island better than Dr.'s Grant, Sattler, and Malcom? Clearly there are holes to fill, but I feel like this could make an epic and story-fulfilling sequel, with an appropriate ending to the story of Jurassic Park. (We already had a "horror film" with the 3rd one. We don't need another. I enjoy the 3rd film just because of the dinosaurs, but what's the point of making two sequels with no point or true tie-in to the first film. They just used the first film to explain why there are dinosaurs in a modern world for the 3rd).

Site C only exists in fanfiction and it wouldn't fit into the plot like site B did. Isla Nublar is not overly populated like site B, which is why the "Kill button" (lysine) allowed site B dinos to live and Isla Nublar would all die out. They only lived on 'cause site B had soy beans which are rich in lysine and the herbivores ate them, the carnivores ate the herbivores and we all live happily ever after. Also the whole mutated thing is just going over-board at will make the whole idea of dinos living in the modern world just a snuff film and people wont really take it as a serious movie (even though it's the fourth film). But the main plot is that the 4th movie will actually take place a little before and a bit during the first film, this is because they can't really think of a good reason to go back to site B (Isla Nublar has been ruled out, regardless of "world problems" from any nukes) especially after JP3 was released so if they date it back then, they can bring in whole new characters without having to explain their ages, it also gives a lot of time for them to back JP5 and 6 before JP2 was made, or JP3 even, an idea might be the fighting and survival of when the hurricane wiped out Isla Sorna as Hammond said to Malcom at the start of the second.

Personally I just see Rex killing all sides, because they all look very tasty! Training a T-Rex? Yikes, might as well have Jaws involved with a nuke strapped to him! :D Hahah! Love this thread though, excellent!

I do like the idea of the Earth being threatened to be overrun by dinosaurs. Colin T. and Frank Marshall are going for something memorable, no matter what the actual plot turns out to be.

The ideas are just WAY to "out there". Crazy, as you've said/tweeted is the only world that keeps repeating itself in my head. What made Jurassic Park (1) majestic is both the terror and beauty of it (which IMAX 3D enhanced - I miss it already!). This sounds WAY too Popcorn. Of course nothing's solid yet but if that's what they were gonna go for, they better scrap it while they can. I've never eyed this close to movie production news in my life. The state it's at now is really confusing and frustrating. I hope we get an official statement, one that clarifies the direction its going. Then again, we already got one from Universal, which pretty much says to "sit and wait".

why would they shoot in costa rica???? they never shoot there even in the bar we meet Dennis in in the first movie wasn't shot in costa rica (it was shot down in mexico) they never shot there before either... very unusual...

Sandy132 Well obviously the filming date will be pushed back but if you want to reserve public property and get all your sets out to an island location you have to be prepared ahead of time. The triceratops from jurassic park took 3 months to ship to Hawaii in pieces so you have to be prepared ahead so you can make your shooting schedule, plus if you get delayed the studio still has to pay the people that get stuck waiting so it makes the studio really unhappy

I like to think the JP3 Rex was old and weaker XD cause im sure Rex would have the advantage in a fight like that. It gives me peace of mind hahaha

Johnston is not a bad director. He isn't an exceptional one either but when he has a good script for the movie he does a fine job. I liked Captain America and Jumanji. But JP3 just had a very shallow plot and character development. And that contributed way more to the mediocre quality of JP3 than his directional talent.

Ingen's dinosaurs aren't complete 100% clones of dinosaurs, their lack of feathers can be justified to the scientific community. I prefer them without feathers but I wouldn't mind some feathers like in JP3's dinosaurs.

Well this is a discussion posted in the "Talk all things dinosaurs and Paleontology" section I didn't mention anything about the movies in my post. Just thought i'd mention something new (:

Whenever i said "all new species" I didn't mean it as in all the animals in the movie should be new and none of the old ones included. Its a literary term for things that are brand new. like saying a single thing that just got out in stores is the all new ____.

Well first of all I never I never said as the main predator. I said as a nice touch. People love seeing new things, new ideas being put into things like movies series, television series, and new video games. Part of the human nature is to seek out and even create new things. Even the slightest extra details here and there can make a movie as big as this that much more enjoyable. You never know what the plot might be and how things like that could fit into it. It wasn't a super serious statement. That was just my opinion as someone who loves paleontology so much. And Kaprosuchus would be a nice little touch. He wasn't too huge of a predator. Besides all of this, I know that it could be argued that other species wouldn't fit into the "ideal" plot but notice how I also said in the movies/books? As in it would've been cool if they were in it from the start.

but using the amber technique it would be much harder to retrieve older DNA... for DNA doesn't last lone after its extracted so yeah... any who i do realize what the plot of the movie is... im just saying they would never meet in real life (even spino and rex wouldn't and they were in the same time period) so its not worth taking the whole thing of who would win WAY TOO FAR its okay to debate some but when you blow it out of proportion its not really worth it

new dinosaurs would be good but we cant stray too far from the original dinosaur "cast" also with us returning to nublar in the next movie how are we going to see new dinos???? i mean we'll only see what was in the first movie (plus what we didn't get to see) and its tough to say who would win...

there was never a jp3 novel Michael critchon never got to writing one and in the books there was never a spinosaurus or many other dinos listed also many of the dinosaurs are re-selected to keep the franchise running for example what would jurassic park be WITH JUST PTERANODONS exactly they need old dinosaurs added in with new ones also no one really wants to see a croc as the main predator maybe as one that appears 1 or 2 times but not one that terrorizes the group also its difficult to add in a whole new species because (now this is other peoples opinions not mine) they all hated spinosaurs when it came in and killed rexy, i dont really care what new dinos are added but dont stray to far from the original cast of dinos

i like it, reminds me of avatar but with dinosaurs... also i think they should add raptors as another predator to it. now if we were to see a game like this it in jurassic park money would pour in like no tomorrow if you were to make something like this it would need to be fps (designed by maybe c.o.d. designers? or some war game designers) much like trespasser except site a and more then just one person on the island

Paden... ah you do realize that in the main plot they are genetically Bringing Back these specific dinosaurs so it wouldn't really matter if they were from different time periods when they meet up in the present day. Theoretically speaking.

There were Pteranodons in The Lost World and JP3, though.

Considering there have been more fossil discoveries of Tyrannosaurus Rex than Spinosaurus and possibly(but I'm not sure, sorry if I'm wrong) Giganotosarus it is not safe to assume that the only specimens of the two are indeed the maximum growth level. it also not safe to say that even Tyrannosaurus's largest specimen is its maximum potential. Paleontology at this stage is and may always be very dependent on Theory. So i would change my tones if I were you and stop acting like you know exactly what's what. (although in my opinion spinosaurus looks the coolest).

wow casey those are very awesome!!! i think i may have seen one before... but they look very cool, they follow up on the whole what happened to biosyn, although it would seem nearly impossible for them to get them but with this new "epic" plot trevvor's been working on we may see something like this.. also you should make your own discussion about these (if you made them) they are very spectacular...

id like to see some of the original cast return too... but new casts good as well its just so hard to get either on the island

well i do believe trespasser was much of a free roaming game of site b a bit hard to say though because I've only every watched people play it and never have played it my self... i think telltale should take another crack at it i mean the JPTG plot was very good i loved it but it may have been better as an FPS (course im a sucker for jp games so i cant say much) but i think if they did another game like trespasser (made by telltale or someone) off of nublar but with jp4s plot in it

I really like Bryce Dallas Howard. She is a good actress, I loved her in "The Village".

many peopl actually theres some people who just dont care about others feelings for the film... thank god tis not cancelled

Hmm I loved the first game and I would love to see a second game. I would like to see more dinosaurs in the game and a larger limit then 60. Also the ability to bred them does sound like a great addition and even hybriding to make your own dinosaurs that you can name. Allowing you to also invite other people to come see your park through online play would be amazing and a way to show your skill off to more then people then you little brother.

Paden is right, as (unfortunate but) helpful as the emails are to help in solving this mess, we do need some kind of confirmation from Colin, Frank or Universal. I mean, Colin will be out of a job and Frank will lose out on a ton of cash, so I expect we'll hear something from them if this is true. [b]Jurassic Park[/b] is one of [i]Universal's[/i] most bankable franchises. To cancel it this far into development is a major waste. Especially if it's only because they want to milk what's left out of the other two [i]Jurassic Park[/i] films, by converting them to 3D, before they tackle [b]JP4[/b]. They are gonna piss off and let down a lot of fans if they are serious about this.
