I know what EQ means, I'm just wondering where are those EQ values coming from? Guesses? Speculations? Actual studies?

It seems really unbelievable for troodontids to have such an intelligence level. They were smart for dinosaurs, yes, but not that much.

Austroraptor was a top predator of prehistoric South America. It lived alongside other large carnivores like Carnotaurus and likely competed with them. At some 5 meters long and 800-1,100 pounds, this was one of the largest raptors on record and the largest found in the southern hemisphere. It had somewhat short arms, but each finger was tipped with a nasty claw. It's long legs could propel it at incredible speed, probably in excess of 30 miles an hour. It's long jaws were filled with dozens of conical shaped teeth. But it's deadliest weapon were the enormous sickle claws on each foot. It's been theorized that Austroraptor hunted prey like the armored Saltasaurus(11-12 meters long and 4-7 tons) and iguanodonts as well. This intelligent, large, and efficient killer was a force to be reckon with...

They're probably not considering weight as size, but rather using lenght - which is not wise at all.

DinoSteve, T.rex fossils have been found in the south. Nothing overly great, but some teeth, fragments, and possibly footprints have been uncovered.

Interesting. I do find it strange they say bigger than T.rex when they keep making it lighter. Longer yes, but not heavier. Heck, Nat Geo even has a drawing and it shows Spino as lighter...

Pretty good, but I do think that you underestimate the weight of the competitors, but that's not that big of a deal. Still very enjoyable and I was rooting for the Spinosaurus.

Looking forward to this. I could see this being very uplifting if handled correctly.

Very interesting, but I do have the same doubts as Dinosteve about the intelligence of Troodontids and Dromaeosaurs, everything else though I can perfectly see happening.

Almost knew all of them, but Beishanlong, Veterupristisaurus and Rapator (although that one sounds kinda familiar) don't ring any bells.

I can see a Deinosuchus fighting like this.

I've only never heard of 7, 6, and 1.

(Siats and Zhuchengtyrannus are my favorites on the list.)

Where are those values taken from? I have a hard time believing dromaeosaurids and troodontids would be smarter than chimps. Studies suggest their intelligence being at the level of a wolf, thing that would help them in social packs.

It's common for predators to have sharp senses, otherwise hunt would be even harder. So yes, allosaurids along with many other theropods would have a good sense of smell.

Great list. Personally, I've heard of all those before, but for sure, most people didn't (talking generally).

Also, about the Tarbosaurus and binocular vision, why wouldn't Tarbosaurus be able to see things directly in front of it? Its skull structure allows it perfectly to have eyes facing forward = good binocular vision.

The same thing goes for every advanced tyrannosaurus.

Also RexFan, just to point this out, Alamosaurus is unlikely to have lived with T.rex. Alamosaurus remains were foundin Texas, south USA, while T.rex is found in Montana, north USA. The gap is too big so that they could have coexisted.

REX FAN 684 - This is quite interesting! I absolutely love The Gator Boys; I've watched most of the shows! I happen to believe that more ancient crocodilians would likely have behaved in a manner similar to the animals we have today. Thus, your assumption holds quite a bit of weight in my opinion! All carnivorous theropods had great senses of smell, and anyway, if an allosaur had a very good sense of smell but not as good as a T-rex, it wouldn't really mater to it since their senses of smell were much better than ours.

And T-rex not only had great eye sight and a nose that was better than a hundred blood hounds.  It could hear very well too, to the point of a hypothesis being proposed that it could use infrasound to echo-locate and communicate, like elephants and alligators, based on the inner ear structure of several skulls.  It also makes sense since there would be a lot of padding on the bottom of their toes, so that they could feel the vibrations.  

But I wouldn't be surprised that Allosaurus had the ability to use infrasound, especially the larger species/genera.

I'd say most of the advanced carnosaurs were just under the tyrannosaur mark. Tyrannosaurs were probably around 1-1.5 while advanced carnosaurs were around .7-1.

So it was right under Rex then. Still pretty smart for a dinosaur.

I'd probably put it at around .8-1. It is one of the more advanced spinosaurs after all.

Either way they encountered eachother and rex did not pass up the opportunity to eat the alamosaurus.
