MemberCompsognathusOct-27-2014 1:33 PMAustroraptor was a top predator of prehistoric South America. It lived alongside other large carnivores like Carnotaurus and likely competed with them. At some 5 meters long and 800-1,100 pounds, this was one of the largest raptors on record and the largest found in the southern hemisphere. It had somewhat short arms, but each finger was tipped with a nasty claw. It's long legs could propel it at incredible speed, probably in excess of 30 miles an hour. It's long jaws were filled with dozens of conical shaped teeth. But it's deadliest weapon were the enormous sickle claws on each foot. It's been theorized that Austroraptor hunted prey like the armored Saltasaurus(11-12 meters long and 4-7 tons) and iguanodonts as well. This intelligent, large, and efficient killer was a force to be reckon with...

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-27-2014 6:34 PMWhat the...? I check on the site after a good solid 10 hours of running tractors and a combine, and now I'm in a debate? Kinda caught me on a bad week. Civics project due Friday, 70 acres of soybeans to take off, school. Ah well, I'll try to have something soon.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-27-2014 6:52 PMWell, technically, this series didn't exist until 5:22 AM server time, and this debate week didn't even exist until 1:00 PM server time. Just the same, 5:22 AM for the server is 8:22 AM for me, and I was getting equipment ready then.
Like I said, I'll try to have something up tomorrow.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-28-2014 12:36 PMHahaha! This is fantastic! Given the fact that both competitors are exceedingly intelligent and well versed in paleo-lore, this debate should prove to be most insightful and extremely fun! Good luck to both of you, MR.HAPPY9097 and REX FAN 684! :)

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-29-2014 4:35 PMAchillobator was a Dromaeosaur, similar in size to Utahraptor, that lived in what is now Mongolia about 98 to 83 million years ago. By Dromaeosaur standards, it was huge. Achillobator means "Achille's Hero." It was a standard Dromaeosaur. It had a sickle claw on each of its feet, it was fast, it had large forearms, and it likely had a coating of feathers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this a "vs" style debate. Therefore, when and where said predators lived, and what they lived alongside, is irrelevant.
While Achillobator has an obvious size advantage, Austroraptor had an agility advantage. Just the same, being a Dromaeosaur Achillobator would have been extremely agile as well. Also, being a Dromaeosaur, Achillobator likely hunted in packs, making it a force to be reckoned with. I will say, a large Dromaeosaur taking on a more agile large Dromaeosaur would be a heck of a battle to see. All in all, I say that whatever Austroraptor can do, Achillobator can do better.
