ScienceHerWayJurassic World ForumWhy would they need a hybrid?

I agree with @Something Real, @Lord Vader and @Durp004, the park was doing fine but the company wanted more money even though it was making tons of money because it was a Dinosaur Park. "Why would they need a hybrid?" Because why not :P? If you put aside the company, customers and money it's a very cool and horrifying idea. As long as the hybrid isn't dangerous and won't attack people then I may go to the park it's at xD.

ScienceHerWayJurassic World ForumJurassic World Velociraptor vs. Dilophosaurus

I think the JP Velociraptor would win. The raptors watch their prey for a bit and then strike. (When they know there is a chance to get the prey with no fence in the way.) The Dilophosaurs might get some stalling time but spitting acid in the Raptor's face but other than that it might just watch the raptor for a minute. Kinda like it did with Nedry.

LORD VADER - Well, then you both did a superior job! I am very impressed with the collaborative work you two have presented! Please keep it up! :)

LEVIATHANTETROPHONEUSFEROX - This is, hmm, interesting. The title "Your Dinosaur is Wrong" seems a bit inflammatory and intellectually dishonest. Let me be perfectly clear: I greatly enjoy discourse concerning the viability and possibility of various paleontological theories - and the fact that you have brought this forward is extremely compelling! However, the realm of ancient animals - particularly dinosaurs - has ever been one of immense supposition and conjecture. Everyone wants to be "right" when it comes to the manner in which various extinct animals are represented - sometimes to the exclusion of detail and smaller fragments of information. When I read a title as assertive as "Your Dinosaur is Wrong", I can not help but feel that the author is attempting to force his or her opinion upon others for one of two reasons: either the individual feels the information at his/her disposal is absolute, or he/she is of the mind that his/her theories are superior to others. Both assumptions are flawed in the extreme. What we know about dinosaurs is laughably limited - so much so that anyone proclaiming their assumptions to be fact is not being honest with his/herself and others. If we are capable of realizing this truth and utilizing in our discussions, we will be able to enjoy civil conversations centered on the wonderfully mysterious creatures of the ancient past!

Now that I have provided the above disclaimer, I will be glad to engage in discourse concerning the topic you have presented once I have fully considered the various aspects provided! :)

Thanks SR. You have to give Primal King some credit too, he did write a chunk of this as well.

DR. JONES - Now that is a very good question! Hmm...If I am not mistaken, the latest entry in the King Kong series will indeed be cannon to Peter Jackson's King Kong from 2005. I believe the new film will take place at around the same time as World War Two or the Vietnam War. With that being said, I am not absolutely positive with regards to the time frame. I certainly hope this information helps clarify some of the aspects of the new film for you! :)

Perhaps there is some change coming. All that ISIS BS might bring the world together for at least a couple years. After that, who knows.

LORD VADER - Ah, refreshingly blunt, as usual! I happen to agree with your assessment; however, I also believe that change is coming. The world - our species - can not sustain the course we have set. :)

Well, it's actually quite simple. Here we go.

In today's society, NOTHING is good enough. Everything has to bigger and better. Companies need to the next big advancement in technology to make more money. Nobody is happy with what they have. Things become outdated real fast. People can't take no for an answer. There's no discipline left in the world. Everyone is used to getting their way and will do whatever it takes to get it. Everything is about having the most money, the biggest phone, the fastest car, the coolest job, the most Facebook worthy photos, and so on. People are spoiled assholes and that won't change. More than anything, the movie version of modern society is a generation ahead. The next generation will be bang on what JW depicted the people as. Just my opinion here of course.

TL;DR: People suck. Get a puppy. Raise it right and you've got a friend who cares about you more than about itself. It won't live as long, but you'll love it its whole life.

The raptor wins no doubt, even if it were the real dilphosaurus. The raptors are too muscular and smart against the dilphosaurus, maybe the dilphosaurus would win if it were the size of its realistic counterpart but had its jurassic park characteristics. Other than that, it's the raptor's game. Though, I always like to vote for the underdog in a match, so I'd be on team dilphosaurus all the way!

I do wish a dilphosaurus vs. a raptor scene in the movies. I'd probably make a little short comic of it. :P

The movie explains this already, though not a really good reason. Like what Owen said, "They're dinosaurs, amazing enough." Something like that.

GORILLAGODZILLA - Oh, now this is a very compelling topic! Hmm..."Why would they need a hybrid?". As you have very eloquently explained, animal-themed parks rarely if ever resort to utilizing hybrids in their shows; the appeal of the normal animals is typically enough to draw crowds. However, with a park like Jurassic World, I would imagine that they might need a hybrid due to the sheer amount of attention such an establishment would draw! I can imagine that such a park would have a constant stream of repeat customers whom are drawn by the awe-inspring sight of living dinosaurs - to the unfortunate point that individuals would indeed become somewhat used to seeing such creatures. IN the end, the park's popularity might require a new attraction - a hybrid - to reinvigorate customer appeal. Of course, this is simply my view of the situation; it could very well be that a hybrid is utterly superfluous! Regardless, this was a very fun topic! :)

Durp004Jurassic World ForumWhy would they need a hybrid?

It's not about being bored or the company going under. Even before the reveal of the I rex Claire says the park is doing fine. It's about the companies getting greedy and wanting more. Sure you can have the dinosaurs get a good attendance, have it spike every once in a while but it's the same reason theme parks like disney and universal add new rides to their parks. No one's bored of the Jaws ride or Back to the Future, but by adding more you get another crowd interested. You renew interest with people that have already been there and likely get huge numbers early on.

Theres also the fact in the real world hybrid animal often have birth defects ranging from sterility to shortened lifespans, being accepted by neither parent species, ect. In the Jurassic World universe you solve these defects by simply splicing another animal in to compensate for that.

You'd think that they would open a Raptor exhibit and maybe have some Stegoceratops BEFORE letting Dr. Wu creating a hybrid CLEARLY designed for military purporses.

GGJurassic World ForumWhy would they need a hybrid?

Using movie logic, I guess that makes sense. I was talking more in the real world which JW places itself in. When dinosaurs are brought back, I don't think anyone is ever going to question or get bored of a Apatosaurus or a T.rex. Never bored enough to force a company to create a hybrid.

Alphadino65Jurassic World ForumWhy would they need a hybrid?

It's because a dinosaur zoo IS different.  Dinosaurs were brought back from the dead, then the wonder seemed to wear off, because they weren't around as long in our lifetime to have such a huge impact when alive.

Besides, the main theme was how Corporate wanted to go the extra mile when they didn't ultimately need to.  So a kid looks at a Stegosaurus like he would an elephant.  Fine, there's nothing wrong with that.  It's still a Stegosaurus.  So profits went down a bit.  No biggie, especially with how much revenue was still coming in.

And you can't have normal dinosaurs chasing you in the jungle or breaking out of their enclosures all the time, it's been done 3 times already and had started to wear thin.  Bringing in a new dinosaur that was bigger and scarier doesn't work as well as a hybrid war animal, since that is the future of biological technology.

Well in JP the Velociraptor would in since it was bigger and more intelligent as portrayed in the movie.

An accurate Dilophosaurus would decimate even a pack of real velociraptors. In JP though, most likely the Velociraptor, as it just gigantic.

Lord VaderJurassic World ForumJurassic World Velociraptor vs. Dilophosaurus

JP Dilo vs JP Veloci, I'd have to say Velociraptor. It's too fast and powerful for the Dilo to be able to take on. If the Dilo could spit venom in Veloci's face, then Dilo would probably win. Anything short of that though, Dilo's a sitting duck.

CHRISPICARD - Oh, now this is a compelling scenario! Hmm...After careful thought, I bebelieve the conclusion to the battle you have presented would hinge upon the ability of either animal to gain surprise over the other. Certainly, the procurator would win in a stand-up battle by virtue of its more powerful build. The dilophosaurus is simply too fragile to have a solid chance against a more aggressive and muscular predator. However, if it could surprise the velociraptor, the dilophosaurus might have a chance at securing victory! :)
