Yeah, I must agree that the proportions do look quite off...
Personally, I think they where vestigial.
Wow, how do they expect those legs to hold "the biggest carnivorus dinosaur" as they say. And the sail looks much more like a hump then a sail. Maybe they should change the name to humposaurus, haha.
Yeah, it probably wouldn't completely loose its arms but thet probably would be simliar to most of the Abelisaurids arms. :)
That, and look at those legs! They're so short! I know spinosaurs didn't have really long legs, but wow. Plus that sail is very square, haha
Just noticed something ridiculous.
They say in the article that spinos spines were up to 7 feet long.
The longest one we have found is 5.4 feet long -_-.
It's called an abelisaur, lol, JK.
Thanks Sci-Fi
Nice list! I think it would be kind of funnt to see a Tyrannosaurus with a gaint head and no arms.
I personaly feel that they were used for nothing, here's why.
As the tyrannosaurs evolved you could see that gradually their arms were geting smaller, and their heads were geting bigger, I believe that if they kept evolving, that they would be gone.
Nice cliffhanger.
Not bad, not bad at all :)
I'm not saying it isn't overrated, but To quote Mr. Happy: "Spinosaurus: The Internet's Most Overrated Dinosaur". However, I find that there are, as I stated many other dinosaurs (read Velocirator) far more over-rated than spinosaurus. Is spinosaurus overrated? Yes. Is it the most overrated? No. Has it been drastically blown out of proportions and completely and utterly overestimated on multiple occasions? Definately.
How is it not overrated? It's constantly called the heaviest theropod, it's sometimes said to have hunted sauropods, many people say it would be a good fighter. There's plenty more examples.
I doubt a spinosaur would be an apex predator but, maybe there's a tyrannosaur or Carcharadontosaur waiting to be discovered.
Nice, was rooting for carchar.
Abelisaurs ruled the southern hemisphere. Tyrannosaurs dominated the northern hemisphere. Spinosaurids were spread out, along with Allosaurids, and raptors.
Not necesarily, somrtimes beeng a large predators isn't very convinient
This is pretty cool!
Nice fight Rexfan! I was rooting for Allosaurus. For the next round, I'll root for Utahraptor, but I expect the hippo to win.
Good fight. Not rooting for either
One of my favorite fights, especially because it actually happened. Rooting for Carcharodontosaurus. Was not disapointed in my favorite of the big 4.
YEAHHH!!!
IT'S HAPPENING! IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!!!
C'mon guys! They barely finished filming. We shouldn't expect a trailer until around October or November. Yes, it would be great to get one, but for now we have to be patient.
This is pretty cool! Nice find!
Thanks! Yea it could probably go both ways, im no Dino expert!
What do you mean Carno?
Overrated: to rate, value, or praise (someone or something) too highly
(according to merriam-webster.com)
Overestimated: to estimate at too high a value, amount, rate, or the like.
(according to dictionary.com)
Although overrated could work, I find many other dinosaurs (read: velociraptor) to be far more overrated, whereas Spinosaurus' behavior and size are constantly getting blown out of proportions.
Nice fight! I was rooting for Spino, but expected Carchara to win.
It's kind of funny that I'm on Team Spino but I agree with every sentence of this discussion. It's annoying when any dinosaur is overestimated! Wether it be Spinosaurus, Ampholecias, or any other dinosaur.
I agree with this list. I also ghave a bit of doubts on D. Rex. Isn't a freak hybrid made of four different creatures a bit too sci-fi?
thank you mr happy. i agree with everything you said
Cool. I've actually met Paul Sereno before, and he's a pretty cool guy. I'm actually not even surprised by this, as he really loves Spinosaurs, especially suchomimus, which he discovered.
Cool find, and I hope I get to see this reconstruction someday.
Great fight, I remember you talk about this series awhile ago.rooting for allosaurus
^ how and why?
rooting for the rhino, but good job with this! Utahraptor should be able to pull it over the hippo...looking forward to it
I've gotta agree with you Mr. Happy. (except maybe the overrated part, I find overestimated to be more accurate.)
