CPP: Allosaurus vs Rhino

Today marks the beginning of my new series, Clash of Past and Present. So, let's get this party started shall we?

Allosaurus VS Rhino

Allosaurus- other lizard

Fighter Size-

8 meters long, 2.5 meters tall, 1.5 tons

Weapons-

Hatchet bite, 3 inch teeth, 7 inch hand claws, speed(20 miles per hour), and agility

Weakness-

Light frame, not as smart as rhino

Rhinoceros- nose horn

Fighter Size-

4.8 meters long, 2 meters tall, 3.5 tons

Weapons-

Horn(40 inches long), power, thick hide, charge, and “early warning system”

Weakness-

Not agile, poor eyesight

Setting- African Plains

Fight!

On the plains of Africa, a large male rhino is making his way to the nearest watering hole. The temperature soars to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat is taking it’s toll. This bull must find water or die. After a few more miles, he gets there. It’s only a small pond, but it’s enough. He drives off a few smaller animals, and gratefully gulps the water.

Only a few miles away, an Allosaurus is also looking for water. His acute sense of smell tells him there’s some not too far away. He heads for the source. As he gets closer, he also picks up the scent of large mammal. He proceeds with caution.

The rhino continues to drink without realizing he’s being watched. But luckily for him, his entourage of birds senses something’s wrong. They see the approaching Allosaurus and fly off screeching. The rhino turns to see what’s coming. However, his poor eyesight doesn’t let him figure out what’s coming just yet. The Allosaurus continues his approach. He uses the long grass to hide his true size. The rhino can only see his chest and up. The Allosaurus ducks low beneath the grass and disappears. The rhino turns in circles, trying to figure out where the predator went. Then, with lightning fast speed, the Allosaurus attacks. He lunges out of the grass into the open area around the pond and strikes. His teeth cut through the thick hide and blood stains the ground. The rhino bellows and stamps his feet. He’s not backing down, the fight’s on!

The Allosaurus circles his intended prey, now rising to his full height to intimidate the rhino. The rhino turns and constantly keeps his horn between him and the allosaur. He knows the allosaur might be taller and longer, but he’s twice as heavy. He might be able to overpower him. The Allosaurus does a series of mock charges, trying to confuse the rhino. But the rhino doesn’t budge. The allosaur grows impatient and attacks. He sidesteps and goes in from behind. However, even though there’s no horn back there, the rhino is still dangerous. The mammal kicks with his back feet and lands a blow on the dinosaur’s lower jaw. The allosaur stumbles back and spits out a few teeth. He rubs his sore jaw with the back of his hand, then roars in frustration. The roar startles the rhino a bit and the rhino charges. But he charges at nothing. The Allosaurus takes advantage of this and attacks. He slashes the back legs of the rhino, then leaps back before the rhino can retaliate. His attacks are very effective. The rhino’s thick hide is proving very hard to get through.

The rhino charges the dinosaur, but the agile allosaur sidesteps. The allosaur tries to swipe the rhino with his claws, but misses the passing mammal. The rhino turns and faces the Allosaurus again and charges. Once again, he misses. But this time, the Allosaurus gets out of the way in a different way. He actually leaps over the rhino and lands behind him. The Allosaurus whips around and slashes the back legs of the rhino again. The rhino turns and faces his attacker. The Allosaurus roars at the rhino again. The rhino charges the Allosaurus yet again. The allosaur begins to move out the way, but not completely in time. The rhino’s horn misses, but his thick skull collides with the dinosaur’s leg and knocks him to the ground. The Allosaurus struggles to get up, and as he does, the rhino lowers his head and gores him in the thigh. The allosaur shrieks and roars in pain as the rhino thrusts his horn in and out of his leg. Blood streams down the dinosaur's leg. The rhino finally wrenches his horn out and the allosaur falls, panting hard and his leg bloody and mangled.

Assuming the threat is gone, the rhino turns his attention back to water. As he starts to walk back to the pond, the Allosaurus starts to get back up. He watches the rhino making his way to the pond. A snarl curls across his lips and he limps into action. The rhino doesn’t hear him coming. When the allosaur’s within striking distance, he attacks. He opens his jaws wide and brings his upper jaw down like an axe on the rhino’s neck. The rhino’s head slams into the ground due to the force of the attack. The allosaur swings again and again. His teeth finally break through the thick hide and cuts the spinal cord. The rhino slumps to the ground, paralyzed. The allosaur roars in victory. Then, he takes a drink of water, and curls up to sleep. His injured leg demands he rest. There’ll be time to eat later.

Winner- Allosaurus

The two animals were very evenly matched. The rhino could just have easily won this battle.
