As a casual Jurassic Park fan one of the criticisms I have of the Jurassic Park 3 and Jurassic World is that they did not follow up on the promise of what we briefly glimpsed in the climax of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. That promise was of a movie in which Dinosaurs were let loose in an urban or metropolitan environment. In recent years we have seen a resurgence of the Kaiju genre with movies such as Godzilla and Pacific Rim (and its sequel) that have offered this on a grand, overtowering scale, but what The Lost World promised was a movie in which Raptors, Rexy, and other carnivorous threats would stalk the streets we call home. Thankfully, after Jurassic Worlds recycling of the iconic 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, it seems the creative team behind Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are finally willing to take the franchise in a fresh new direction that doesn't rely on Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna.
