Jurassic World 2 news has been very difficult to come by, due to the film's release date in two years. Currently no title or casting announcement of the film has yet been made, and guesses at the plot are educated at best. However, Sam Neill has recently disclosed his chances of returning to the Jurassic Park franchise in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal to discuss his newest film "Hunt for the Wilderpeople". The quote comes at the very end of the interview:
[Interviewer] "Would you ever go back to the Jurassic Park Franchise?"
[Sam Neill]: "You never say never, but I think it’s moved on. It’s different times."
Sam Neill's comments recall Jeff Goldblum's who previously denied being asked to return for Jurassic World 2. Sam Neil's comments about the series having moved on are also evocative. Both Neill and Goldblum have played their iconic characters twice in the Jurassic Park franchise in The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3, respectively.
The newest film, Jurassic World focused on a new cast of characters with only Henry Wu returning from the original cast. Colin Trevorrow framed that story to center around the character arcs of the new characters he set up in that movie. Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm still exist in the story, but they are no longer part of the story that the Jurassic World series has to tell. The sequels may be more focused on expanding Claire Dearing's character development, as has been hinted by Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jurassic World 2 will be released on June 22, 2018. The film has not yet been given an official title. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt will return to play Claire Dearing and Owen Grady in the film. The movie will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who has directed 'The Impossible'
