Jurassic World: Rebirth will take the Jurassic franchise in a dramatically new direction with Gareth Edwards at the helm, both visually and from a storytelling perspective. With the film's official title and plot synopsis having been revealed today - rumors which began to circulate at the beginning of the summer have started to become more likely. One such rumor we cannot ignore is one that claimed the new Jurassic film would see a rematch between franchise icons Tyrannosaurus Rex and Spinosaurus - a rematch fans have been waiting for since 2003 when Jurassic Park 3 saw the Spinosaurus dethrone a young male T-Rex as Tyrant King of Isla Sorna.
Let's dive into the rumor...
First reports
Initially, the rumorĀ claimed the new Jurassic World film would feature a long awaited rematch between Spinosaurus and T-Rex specifically inside ancient ruins - this time with the T-Rex reclaiming its crown and defeating the Spinosaurus.
Of course this rumor seemed far fetched back in June when it began to make its rounds, but since news has started heating up on Jurassic World: Rebirth this week, set photos have also begun to leak... and as fate would have it, there will be an ancient ruins set.

Now, while the set photos themselves are not a direct confirmation the rumor is true, it does lend credence to the claims considering the rumor came out well before these set photos leaked online.
We still urge fans to take the potential news with a grain of salt, but the more we learn, the more this rumor is sounding legitimate.
