Amazing news - Jurassic World 4 has found its director! Gareth Edwards - director of Monsters, Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One has been tapped to direct the next Jurassic World movie for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, according to a fresh report by Deadline:
The studio recently dated the pic to bow on July 2, 2025 and moved fast to find a director with Edwards spending all of last week meeting with execs. After impressing producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, who helped launch the franchise in the 90s, an offer soon followed and pre-production is expected to ramp up once a deal is sealed.
Edwards has a solid track record for bringing Hollywood fresh takes on established and iconic film franchises - he set the pace with Legendary and Warner Brothers' Hollywood Godzilla movie back in 2014, which spawned a massive and successful cinematic universe known as the Monsterverse. He then impressed Star Wars fans with his work directing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Now, he will once again breathe fresh life into another iconic sci-fi film franchise - Jurassic Park!
The new Jurassic World movie will be a fresh take on the Jurassic IP, essentially rebooting the franchise with a brand new story and new cast. The film is currently untitled but a release date is currently set for July 2nd, 2025.
