Universal are rebooting Jurassic World and the studio is eyeing July 2nd, 2025 for its official release date, according to a fresh report by Deadline! Sources claim not only is the new Jurassic flick arriving next year, but the studio has also tapped David Leitch to direct, adapted from a screenplay by Jurassic Park and The Lost World scribe David Koepp!
Sources tell Deadline David Leitch is in early talks to direct the next film in the billion dollar franchise. The film is set to bow on July 2, 2025.
The new movie will be a completely fresh take on a Jurassic era with Jurassic World castmembers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return, nor the original trilogy’s thespians Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.
The verbiage surrounding this new Jurassic film suggests this new Jurassic era will in fact reboot the Jurassic World series - but will it also be rebooting Jurassic Park as well? Given the new film will reportedly have zero ties to any of the original cast members, it's possible Universal are looking to start fresh and from the beginning all over again. However, the moniker Jurassic World is still being referenced, so perhaps the reboot only applies to the last three Jurassic World films.
With a July 2025 release date slated, the studio will be moving quickly into production. Be sure to keep an eye here for updates as we anticipate this new Jurassic era!
