A new Jurassic World movie is in the works at Universal and will relaunch the franchise with a brand new storyline! Sources have revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the new Jurassic film has also tapped original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp to pen the film's script!
According to THR, this new Jurassic World / Park installment will not be a follow up to the previous Jurassic World trilogy (thank goodness) and will see other franchise veterans Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley producing the next movie as well!
From the sounds of it, none of the cast from both Jurassic Park or Jurassic World will be playing a role and returning for the new film, as THR reports:
It is unclear what form the relaunch is taking. It is known to be launching a “new Jurassic era,” per sources, with an all-new storyline. That would seem to rule out the return of the characters played by Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. And it seems characters featured in the original Jurassic Park movies, played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, would not be involved.
It sounds more and more like Universal are rebooting the franchise entirely. Timeline and additional plot details remain unknown currently and the film has yet to find itself a director, but THR asserts talk behind the scenes suggest the studio could be eyeing a possible 2025 release date.
