Unlike previous Jurassic Park films, the sequel to Jurassic World will be filming in the UK instead of Hawaii. A fresh report from The Knowledge Online has confirmed that Universal Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have their sights set on UK studio locations as a base to continue the Jurassic adventure. Juan Antonio Bayona will be directing the highly anticipated sequel with both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning as their reapective characters, Owen and Claire. Colin Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg will executive produce the picture which will release in cinemas on June 22nd, 2018.
Filming in the UK suggests Jurassic World 2 will not involve much action on any of the previous Islands (Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna) where the previous four Jurassic films took place. Instead, we will likely see a more urban setting for the sequel, with a Dinosaur presence now affecting the general population.
Early scripts for Jurassic Park 4 had included such a scenario, where by Dinosaurs invaded and attacked the mainland. However, this is likely not how Jurassic World 2 will play out. Instead, we will likely see Dinosaurs being used and tested on for combative purposes. InGen's ultimate goal with Owen's Raptor program in Jurassic World was to someday use them as a means of replacing troops on the ground in a war setting. Dr. Wu also managed to make it off Isla Nublar before all hell broke loose following the escape of the Indominus Rex. This means either InGen or a competing company will have access to these Dinosaur embryos and will without a doubt continue research and development on their "Weaponized Dinosaur" project.
