After yesterdays news of Jeff Goldblum returning to the Jurassic Franchise, we now have our first official plot details regarding the sequel. James Cromwell was interviewed on Larry King, and released some information about his character. The interview can be viewed below in the video:
"“The character Richard Attenborough plays [John Hammond], I’m his partner, uh Benjamin Lockwood, and we developed the technology of being able to clone the genes – and so I am, uh, trying to deal with the blowback from what we have done.”"
Obviously there is a lot to unpack in these sentences, but it is clear that Lockwood must have been involved with InGen during its early days. However as this is the first mention of the character, and Hammond did not refer to him during the previous films, it remains uncertain what his role in InGen was.
Hammond presented himself as the head of InGen, with no mention of his 'partner'. While we do not have enough information yet, it is possible that Lockwood could potentially be this films version of Novel Hammond, more likely to be cheerful and charismatic, but also hide a more intense and dark outlook.
No doubt that Lockwood is the owner of the Manor seen in the first set picture, and also may have a part in the films rumored 'Save the dinosaurs' plot line. However, given his connection to Hammond, it is possible that his intentions for the dinosaurs may be less then altruistic.
