After much anticipation, the director for Universal Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' Jurassic World sequel has been announced! Juan Antonio Bayona has officially signed on to direct Jurassic World 2, the fifth instalment in the Jurassic Park film series. Jurassic World's director Colin Trevorrow will remain on as executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg.
Bayona is best known for his work directing The Impossible and this October's A Monster Calls, which stars Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver! You can check out the trailer for that below.
Jurassic World 2 will release June 22nd, 2018 and will follow the story of Claire and Owen as they evolve from their experiences at Jurassic World. Claire, being a focal point throughout this new trilogy is said to evolve the most and become a strong, fearless heroine. The Jurassic World sequel will involve a closer relationship between Humanity and Dinosaurs. To what extent that may be has yet to be revealed.
