Universal Pictures are quite eager to continue the Jurassic Park franchise after Jurassic World broke numerous box office records this past weekend. Chris Pratt has already confirmed he will be returning for at least one Jurassic World sequel and as of today, two new interviews with producer Frank Marshall and director Colin Trevorrow have landed online, both discussing future plans for the Jurassic franchise. (This article does contain spoilers if you have not yet seen Jurassic World)

As the title of the new film suggests, the Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park are no longer confined to just one park, or just one island. As Trevorrow explains, the title was changed for a reason and the possibilities of where the franchise can go now are virtually limitless.

During an interview with Collider, Colin discusses the fact that the follow-up will likely involve a more global interaction between Humans and Dinosaurs. With two islands now home to a variety of free-roaming Dinosaurs, it's inevitable that life will find a way and the Dinosaur population will flourish and grow.

After watching Jurassic World, we know InGen has plans to weaponize the Raptors and continue production on genetically modified hybrids like the Indominus Rex; just smaller versions of them. The direction Jurassic World 2 takes will more than likely involve weaponized Dinosaurs as a new means of warfare. As Hoskins and Owen discuss in Jurassic World, some people believe robots are the future of war, but they can be hacked and programmed, rendering them useless. InGen feels that the Dinosaur approach is more viable and less likely to backfire on them (despite the repeated incidents which take place every time they try to control the Dinosaurs on a small scale).

So, Jurassic World 2 will definitely feature weaponized Dinosaurs, but Colin also brings up the idea of the general population co-existing with Dinosaurs, much like how we do with animals of today. Whether or not Trevorrow is hinting at the idea of "pet Dinosaurs" is unsure, but co-existance with Dinosaurs is definitely a theme of the new world.

Unfortunately, Colin explains he will not be directing Jurassic World 2, as we previously reported, however he will remain involved throughout the creative process, much like how Steven Spielberg was for Jurassic World.

In another interview with SlashFilm, both Frank Marshall and Colin Trevorrow discuss Jurassic World sequel plans further. Marshall held nothing back, saying they're already discussing sequel plans at the Studio level:

"Well they were pretty general in that we leave the door open to have further chapters in the story.  What’s funny is I’m on my way to have lunch with the studio and Colin to talk about a sequel.  Like now."

When asked about the "sequel set-up" scene 3/4 into the film, when Dr. Wu (BD Wong) leaves the Island with Dinosaur embryos and lab work in-hand, Colin Trevorrow had a lengthy (and juicy) response:

"It’s somewhat a plot based setup for the future. And that matters to a certain extent. But if we hadn’t done that, you could easily manufacture that. You know, in a second film. So I find it actually the least functional setup for the future of everything that we do. There are themes and ideas in here that we’re setting up, such as the coexistence of these animals on the planet with humans. In the same way that we exist with animals now. And  imagine a world where just like, you know, don’t go into that jungle, there’s tigers in there. They’re gonna eat you. Just replace that with raptors. And I think we set up ideas in here. One of them, the one we address the most is the weaponization of dinosaurs and the fact that animals have been used in war for centuries. And there are people with completely bonkers ideas that are always gonna step in and wonder how else we can utilize a new technology. And also in this there was a line in the movie that I cut. And sometimes I wonder if I should have, but I needed the scene to move in a certain way. But there was a line where Doctor Wu says to Irrfan Khan or B.D. Wong says to Irrfan Khan, you know, how long do you think you’re gonna be able to control her? We won’t always be the only ones who can make a dinosaur. And that idea to me has a lot of potential in it that like nuclear power there could be a something that goes open source and there could be many entities who might have this ability to create these things and use them for various needs and purposes. So there’s potential in there. For something."

A global take-over of Dinosaurs. Man and Dinosaurs co-existing in the modern world. Seems like a good idea, right? God creates Dinosaurs. God destroys Dinosaurs. Man creates Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man... You know the deal, there really is no way that this will work out well for Humanity, but it will be quite thrilling to watch it all unfold on the big screen!

Kinda "ify" about this whole human and dinosaur coexistence. Jurassic Park: The Lost World left it nicely by simply putting, "These creatures require our absence to survive, not our help. And if we could only step aside and trust in nature, life will find a way." -John Hammond.

I mean the idea of coexistence isn't bad, but it somewhat conflicts with the idea of "The world has just changed so radically, and we're all running to catch up. I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but look... Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by 65 million years of evolution have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together. How can we possibly have the slightest idea what to expect?" -Dr. Grant. Which by watching the movie, it didn't go well.

I guess it just may be me, but I find odd to have a Jurassic Park movie out of the Park. But you could argue that the T-rex in the second film was in San diego...which the scenario had some moments, but the mood of the movie somewhat changed. It became like Godzilla (which I do not hate) but highly prefer a T-rex to be hunting in its envoriment and killing people (it stands out more and better imagery).

But like I said, it could just be me. At first I didn't like the idea of I-rex, because like what Owen said,"They're dinosaurs, they're amazing enough." But then I was proven wrong, cause I-rex was pretty amazing to have.

So maybe this new idea can be something enjoyable. Hopefully nothing ending like transformer though.

I'm not crazy about it either, but it sounds very much like Colin has been focused on how this universe of Jurassic Park would logically proceed within itself. So much of the Jurassic World script seems like a series of inevitabilities in the modern world. Everything from the eventuallity of someone getting the vision right, to the genetic experimentation, to the need for newness and updates over time...its right there with reality.

Perhaps what we feel, is that the change in  'reality'  from 22 years ago to today isn't as grand and mysterious. The old park was legit, Lowery. Without all the modern technology and expectaions of today, that reality was much more isolated and spooky. Combine that with realistic looking dinosaurs and it was mesmerizing.

Still, within the reality of our time, we can hope to appreciate where this goes. Jurassic World was awesome and is the best sequel to the original, but it is a turning point and the last of the 'Park' style films.
