I was introduced to the joys of Blizzard Entertainments free-to-play card trading game Hearthstone through British videogame Vodders and Streamers the Yogscast about a year ago when Lewis Brindley (Yogscast co-founder) and Mark "Turps" Turpin (Yogscast CEO) started the "board meeting" stream which aired on Thursdays. Eventually renamed "Deck Rippers" this stream has now become Dad Decks, which airs on Twitch between 2 pm and 5 pm GMT on a Thursday, with longtime Yogscaster Sips replacing Lewis. Most weeks Turps and Sips play Hearthstone which features cards of characters that will be all too familiar to Warcraft and World of Warcraft fans.
A simpler and easier to access card trading game than Magic and newcomer Gwent, Hearthstone is free to play with literally thousands of cards available to be purchased/crafted/earned with daily challenges and weekly brawls. To keep interest in the game fresh and to encourage new deck strategies Blizzard introduce new expansions frequently which usually add a plethora of cards, heroes and sometimes all-new gameplay elements.
The newest of these expansions, expected to be released soon (presumably April) is the all new Journey to Un'Goro, which as you can see from the preview image above is set to feature, although not for the first time, everyone's favorite prehistoric creatures - Dinosaurs.
How accurate the depictions of these Dinosaurs will be remains to be seen, but the possibility of a Dino heavy deck using "beast" buff cards is now finally a possibility for Hearthstone fans and Dinosaur fans looking for new dino-related goodies. In addition to hundreds of new cards, the new "elemental" card types, and a cool Ammonite themed card back Journey to Un'Goro will also add a whole new prehistorically themed game board (pictured below) to the game, which is sure to contain some hidden little animations.
If you haven't already got yourself Hearthstone you can download the game and play it for free directly from Blizzard Entertainment at Battle.Net, and for those looking for some entertaining banter and video game gameplay you can check out the Yogscast at the homepage, and their YouTube and Twitch channels.
