As Jurassic World 2 continues its production, we have gotten several hints as to the setting of the sequel due to various set leaks. However, the first official confirmation of sequel's location has been semi-confirmed by Colin Trevorrow himself. The director was asked on twitter whether the iconic Tyrannosaurs Rex from Isla Nublar would be making a reappearance in the sequel, he replied in the affirmative:
Now, every Jurassic Park film has had a Tyrannosaur so far. However, 'Rexy' is the specific fandom nickname for the T-rex seen in Jurassic Park as well as Jurassic World. The confirmation of the original series Rex confirms that the sequel will take place in whole or in part on Isla Nublar.
What remains to be seen is how the T-rex will feature in the story of the Jurassic World Sequel. As the Rex is now considerably older, it is possible that this could indeed be the Rex's last appearance. Time will tell how this news shapes the plot of the sequel.
Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt will be returning as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. The cast of the film currently includes Ted Levine, BD Wong, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, James Cromwell, Justice Smith and Geraldine Chaplin.
