Bryce Dallas Howard will return as Claire in the upcoming Jurassic World sequel, currently slated for a June 22, 2018 release date. Although filming is set to begin on February 27th, no significant amount of updates have made their way online. However, entertainment website JoBlo recently sat down with Bryce to discuss her reprisal for Jurassic World 2 and what we can expect from her and her character.
Unfortunately, for those of us following Jurassic World 2 extremely closely, the information Bryce provided was not necessarily new by any means. Regardless, she reiterates that her character, Claire, is permanently changed after the events during Jurassic World. In Jurassic World 2, we will see a dramatically different version of Claire - one that is tougher, more level-headed and unafraid to face the challenges presented to her:
That's part of the story, that's part of the journey. She definitely went through a lot and is permanently changed because of that. But she is also who she is. Chris [Pratt] and I are already having a lot of fun with that. We're in that stage right now of figuring out the backstory and talking through all those beats, like everything that happened in between. That's always such a fun time. You're like, 'No, she did that?! No way, he couldn't have!' It's really, really fun, and then you step into the present moment and it becomes alive.
In a second interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bryce explains that she's been thinking about the Jurassic World 2 shoot "all the time" and again, mentions that Claire will not be outrunning a T-Rex in heels in the sequel.
