The director of the anticipated Jurassic World Sequel took to twitter to confirm that Bernat Vilaplana would be the editor for the sequel. Bayona and Vilaplana previously collaborated together on several of his previous projects.
Bernat Vilaplana's other film credits include Hellboy 2, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, in addition to the Impossible. Most recently, Vilaplana collaborated with Bayona on 'A Monster Calls'. Vilaplana has been nominated for several awards for his work on 'The Impossible' and 'Pan's Labyrinth"
As the film editor, Vilaplana will be be directed with the task of assembling shots and transforming them into completed sequences to complete the film. Filming has not yet begun on the Jurassic World sequel, but Vilaplana will still have extensive input on the feature. An Editor's job is not only to assemble a sequence of shots, but also to reimagine the film, and assist in the writing processes to ensure that the film is cohesive.
Jurassic World 2 will be released on June 22, 2018. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt will return to play Claire Dearing and Owen Grady in the film. Rafe Spall and Toby Jones will also star alongside Justice Smith. The movie will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who has directed 'The Impossible.
