I think Allosaurs and Charcarodontosaurids take the cake as far as sauropod slayers go.
ReplyGigadinoDinosaurs ForumMeat Eaters vs Plant Eaters: Fight!! 1/4Sep 24, 2013
Spinosaurs are still the best fighters of the sauropods. and I repeat, T. rex is too overrated today, now all they do win ... T. rex is not a monster, it is not the king of the dinosaurs, is just a normal Theropod giant. I wanted to do something more original.

Let's not start up the Rex vs Spinosaurus debates again, shall we?
ReplyGigadinoDinosaurs ForumDinoFights Bonus Fight 2Sep 24, 2013
Intelligent isn't an advantage in a battle though...but still a good fight. I think that a T.rex can kill a Deinosuchus only on land, but in shallow water Deinosuchus take the cake.

@GigaDino: And Spinosaurus isn't? A T-rex can easily kill a Dacentrurus too.

@RexFan: T.rex is too overrated. Dacentrurus can easily kill a T. rex. So, since he had won the previous contest, I threw it out right away this time.
@MrHappy: Spinosaurus is larger than Diplodocus (11 t v 14 t) and Sauropods aren't good fighters.

Hmmmm.... Good fights, a little short, mildly disappointing. I just don't see Spinosaurus as a creature that could kill anything larger than an Ouranosaurus.

Okay, not what I expected. I must say, the fights are very good. I mostly understand what's going on, but do you think you could make the, longer? That way, they are even easier to read and must, much better. Great job, and I can't wait for the next ones.

Yes, many, many dinosaur books. They say that it has groves like a Komodo dragon, and I believe it. Plus, haven't you ever gotten a piece of meat in between your teeth. It was cooked, but man, I was worried decomposes where going into my mouth as I slept. Fortunaly, I'm still alive, so apparently it didn't decompose

ReplyRingwriath66Jurassic World ForumJurassic Park 4 (Jurassic World) Plot SynopsisSep 24, 2013
Hi guys,
can't wait for JP4.
I think that the plot should be based around the tell tale game. By doing this it would show a new prospective of the events in the first movie by introducing new characters. it could also take place in some areas of the park that so far have been unseen, for example an aquarium? amusement park? This would also allow the writers to close some of the unanswered questions from JP1, such as what happened to the cylinder that Nedry dropped when he got attacked?
what ever the plot turns out to be, I just hope they get it right and JP4 is the best film ever. I agree that it should rated above PG13, aiming more towards adults, and I to would like to see Malcolm return in some way.

I always knew that Dac was 23 feet, maybe a bit more. It shocked me when I first saw it as 35 feet on this site. And the T. rex looks like something fuzzy, but I don't think it looks like a bear.

ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMeat Eaters vs Plant Eaters: The fightersSep 23, 2013
I still don't know. Many of them mentioned large hip bones that were found. Even Wikipedia, a site I somewhat distrust but many believe in, mentioned it as being 23-26 ft long with a weight of 5 tons. Here's the exact words...
Dacentrurus was a large stegosaurid, some specimen have been estimated to reach lengths between 7–8 m (23–26 ft)[1][2] and to weigh up to 5 t (5.5 short tons).[3] Many books claim that Dacentrurus was a small stegosaur, when in fact finds such as a 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) wide pelvis indicate that Dacentrurus was among the largest of them.
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumMeat Eaters vs Plant Eaters: The fightersSep 23, 2013
Hey guys, back for a few moments.
Actually it was 10 m. There's a picture somewhere of a 1.5 meter wide hip. Stegosaurs are slim, so that's enormous. 10 meters enormous. The hips are fairly recent, so a lot of sites won't get em for a while, especially since Dac is so little known.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMeat Eaters vs Plant Eaters: The fightersSep 23, 2013
I just did a little looking just to make sure, and the highest estimate I've found was 30 ft. But, that same site said Dacentrurus weighed only 2 tons. Every other site/publication I found was in the 20-26 ft range.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMeat Eaters vs Plant Eaters: The fightersSep 23, 2013
And, no offence GigaDino, but I hope you guys know that Dacentrurus was not nearly as big as you guys often say it was. It was a large stegosaur, but it's an estimated 23-26 ft long! Weighed about 3-5 tons. Comparable to Stegosaurus. Not 33 ft long and 8 tons.

Spyrannosaurus
Those 4 foot tail spikes could indeed slay a T-Rex. But it's all in the placement. For comparison (I like guns, so I shall use a gun comparison), a .50 BMG is huge (by Canadian standards at least), and a .22 LR is is tiny.

I don't have to label which is which I hope.
As you can see, the .50 BMG is much larger than the .22LR, and also much deadlier. Let's call the .50 BMG Dac's tail spike, and the .22 LR Rex's tooth. While deadlier, the .50 BMG would have to hit something important. The .22, would also have to hit something important. Personally, I would rather get shot in the foot with the .50 BMG than in the head with the .22 LR.
My money's on Rex for that one.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumTop 10 Dinosaur Super WeaponsSep 23, 2013
Actually, I was doing both species of Torvosaurus. And the largest Tyrannosaurus teeth were 13-15 inches long. As far as the niches go, you could use that analogy for any large theropod really.
Edmarka rex-
Claims have been made indicating even larger sizes. Edmarka rex was named thus because it was ASUMMED to rival Tyrannosaurus rex in length. The material from Portugal has caused exact size estimates to be made, exceeding nine metres. In 2006 a lower end of a thighbone, specimen ML 632, was referred to a Torvosaurus sp., and stated to indicate a length of 11 m (36 ft). Applying the extrapolation method of J.F. Anderson, correlating mammal weights to their femur circumference, resulted in a weight of 1930 kilogrammes.
11 meters is not as big as the biggest Tyrannosaurus'.
And, think about it, which would be able to sustain more pressure? A steak knife or a railroad spike?
You see my point?
ReplyNo longer activeDinosaurs ForumTop 10 Dinosaur Super WeaponsSep 23, 2013
You're thinking american Torvo. European Torvo looked had a skull longer than the largest Tyrannosaurus'

Its teeth were bigger, as shown in your second picture. Jurassic Tyrannosaurus. I mean, think about it. Its Dacentrurus was T. rex's Triceratops. Its Edmarka was T. rex's Tyrannosaurus "X". Its Dinheirosaurus was T. rex's late cretaceous sauropod that is currently unnamed. Its Allosaurus/Saurophaganax was T. rex's dromaeosaur pack.
Down to the last detail, it filled the same niche T. Rex did as the hyper powerful biting bone crusher.
Its even super robust (judging by an Edmarka rib) and would have measured a similar maximum length of 12-13 m as a full grown adult.

Saurolophus was a hadrosaur! Why would it have a tail club?!
PS- T-rex lived with prey like Ankylosaurus and Triceratops. I think it could hold it's own.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumTop 10 Dinosaur Super WeaponsSep 23, 2013
The absolute max size for Torvosaurus' skull is 5 ft. This is not universally accepted and the average size is only about 3-3.5 ft. Tyrannosaurus skulls averaged 5 ft in length with the max length being about 6 ft long and their skulls were far more robust. Thin, slashing teeth like the ones Torvosaurus had are not designed to withstand the pressure of a really powerful bite. T-rex's thick, railroad spike teeth were. Tyrannosaurs in general consistently have higher bite forces than other carnivores of comparable sizes. As far as size of the animals goes, I'll even use the lower estimates for Tyrannosaurus. T-rex, according lower estimates was 36-43 ft long and 6-7 tons. Torvosaurus was 29-36 ft long and 2-4 tons.

I think in the end Hammond should be shown dead and Malcolm should, on an interview, say this : " he did, uh, have one last wish." Then the news anchor covering the story cuts to the interview from the end of tlw where he says the animals should liver peacefully and that if we let them be "life will find a way"

I think Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) should come back in terms of adults. It reminds us of the "chaos theory" talk form Jurassic Park, the team work for saving San Diego from The Lost World, and the Ian Malcolm that was going to be in Jurassic Park III before he fell and hurt his leg. I personally liked how, even though he didn't want him nor his Girlfriend going near another dinosaur,Malcolm allowed them to get chased by a Trex in order to save San Diego

Spinosaurus. It could slash the throat of or throttle D. carnegiei, judging by this

Triceratops could pull off the win face to face.
Giga. It has weapons, not to mention killer instinct.
I say Tyrannotitan gets the exposed neck.
Mapusaurus. It uses its slanted skull to flip the much smaller Anky over.
Saurophaganax. It has speed, weapons, predatory instinct and hunted Stegosaurus in life.
Acrocanthosaurus has a 50/50 chance. If the Saurolophus tail clubs him by turning then crushes him, it wins. The Saurolophus has agility, power, size and a deadly bat for a tail if it rotates. The Acrocanthosaurus has weaponry, predatory instinct, intelligence and experience hunting similar sized prey (young Sauroposeidon)

You don't need a full skull.
How is it a no contest? Its skull was bigger and it had far more muscle attachments. Its teeth indicate an extremely high bite force.
