This was... interesting... :)
i agree. an do you think other animals would die out?
TYRANT KING - This is an extremely compelling notion you've raised! I happen to believe that prehistoric life-forms would actually be able to hold their own and then some against modern day animals even if they were to be reduced in size. The basis of my assumption comes form the fact that I happen to think that the world in which the dinosaurs dwelled was a much more savage and dreadful place than the on within which we live today. Each and every life-form from those ancient times would likely have to have been fine-tuned to be as competitve as possible in order to survive in so hostile an environment filled with super-predators that make the ones we have now look like poodles! :)
SHAMBS - Saints alive! Where can I adopt one of those little darlings?! ;)
Thanks guys. :)
ULTRA PREDATOR - Very, very neat! I'm looking forward to more of your story! Thank you very much for presenting this to us! :)
It is kind sad that there will be some dinosaurs that will never be found. It is also yet another reason why using fossil fuel should be stopped. But hey, be glad with what we have.
I realize this and it really saddens me and I just think about the fact that we are finding new species all the time and that always cheetes me up.
Looks great! But dont you think if Rex did have feathers they would be a variety of bright colors or a mix of dark colors used for camouflage?
Another weird ceratopsian would be Nasutoceratops if you ask me.

I know this isn't an end all answer, but lets look at current animals that are similar:
Birds- Birds do not roar or growl, but they do make caws, screeches, ans chirps. Most of these sounds however are meant to communicate with other birds and are hardly aggressive. Perhaps a larger animal would make a deeper sound more like a roar, but that doesn't hold true with emus and ostriches.
Reptiles- Generally, reptiles are very silent creatures aside from an occasional hiss. If the dinosaurs are truly relatives of reptiles, I would doubt them roaring.
Crocodiles/alligators- Once again, we are looking at an animal that mostly does a hiss. However, these two creatures do have a low grumble that is similar to a gowl but it pales in comparison to an outright roar such as the JP T-Rex.
I would conclude that it is most likely in-between these animals. I would guess that most of the time, the sounds made by these animals would be hisses with the occasional grunt to communicate with their own kind. Of course, this is just an educated guess and theropod dinosaurs very well may be completely different than any animal we know of today.
thanks for the updates mortael. i wonder how much sooner. im hoping for at least the first week of november
It could be earlier, check the update part here: http://jurassicworld.org/?id=198
Copy/paste:
UPDATE: Last night, I spoke with Paul Shirley on Twitter. Paul is the editor-in-chief for JoBlo.com. He has been hearing that the trailer will actually be released online MUCH sooner than December. I asked if he knew where (YouTube, Apple Trailers etc) but hewasn't sure.
JoBlo.com have followed Jurassic World's production fairly closely in the past and have reported multiple spoilers about the story that appear to be true, so while we do take rumours with a pinch of salt, it's worth keeping a close watch on Paul's twitter. Be sure to give him a follow!
your welcome and i totally agree something real XD
MECH RODAN - The sadness you're feeling is a complex form of loss. It stems from having never been able to see and touch these wonderful animals from our world's past. However, I've a bit of knowledge that might help to cheer you - and it's in direct response to your wondering if any of us know a time traveler.
The truth of the matter is that you and I - every living being upon this Earth - are each time travelers in our own right. Recent breakthroughs in quantum physicis have shown that you and I, and everything, are composed of atoms that were formed at the very moment of our universe's birth - forged in heat that was so intense, it makes the largest stars look like ice cubes! With that as the case, our universe wastes absolutely nothing, and the same can be said for our planet. Every atom in your body is billions upon billions of years old - and were not always yours. It's almost certain that thousands, if not millions, of your atoms were carried within the bodies of dinosaurs, some of which might never be discovered by science! You, and every human being, are much closer to the animals of prehistory than you might think! They are a permanent part of us, which is why they burn so fiercely in our imaginations and evoke such sadness when we ponder their fate and the knowledge that they're gone from this world. However, each of us carries these amazing animals with us as a fundamental part of our biochemistry! As such, they are not, and never will be, truly gone.
I certainly hope this helps to brighten you spirits! Regardless, always keep your chin up! :)
SC-FI KING25 - Hahaha! That was an incredibly fun battle! I very much like the fact that the Stegosaurus won the day! Very neat! Thank you very much for taking the time to present this excellent fight to us! :)
LORD OF THE SPINOSAURS - Hmm, this is a neat topic! All in all, I'd have to say that the strangest ceretopsian, in my opinion, is Pentaceratops.

This animal was bloody magnificent with regards to its size and the shape of its protective frill! It was like a siege shield from the battles of the Crusades!
I had a very fun time with this topic! Thank you ever so much for sharing this with us! :)
DINOBOY22 - I've only one way to describe my state of mind if the news you've presented turns out to be legitimate.

Regardless, thank you so very much for taking the time to bring this to us! :)
Still nice Dinosteve. I remember when you first showed me that image on the PK forums. It was a shock at first, I won't deny that. Also didn't you say that you were also modifying it later? With white feathers and some other details? Can't wait to see that image. :D
That's a very interesting, and neat take on Rexy.....and we know how much you love feathers DinoSteve! ;)
Rex did not need bactei in his jaws because his bite was deadly enough as it is. And the poor animal that somehow managed to survive and escape rex's powerful jaws would probably die from infection in the huge wounds. Not from t.rex himself since there is no evidence to prove that notion.
RAPTOR-401 - Aww! How sweet! I'm humbled and honored by your statement! I'll try my best to never let you down! :)
If there's one thing you should know Lord of the Spinosaurs is that Something Real makes a lot of good claims. One of the best debators of the forums.
Good fight, I was routing for Stegosaurus, and near the end I thought Saurophaganax was going to win, but no. But both are really cool dinosaurs.
the theatrical trailer
The trailer or the teaser?
sure why not
I actually have been debating about this for a long time, but I only got my first whiff of the argument from an article I read online (and unfortunately, I didn't save the link, oops). I really don't know whether theropods could have roared, and the evidence for doubting it are here, but maybe their calls were deep enough that if we heard them anyway, we'd say they were roaring.
But I'm completely certain that large dinosaurs (not just theropods) used infrasound, because of their sheer size.
As well, I'm willing to bet that large herbivorous dinosaurs were capable of loud bellows and roars. Bakker wrote in a book I read when I was younger that if a Triceratops blew its nose or tried to produce any such sound, the volume and audial frequency would have been off the charts because of their large nasal and oral cavities.

Shoot. I guess we'll just have to wait...
I was actually going to go see Instellar just to see the JW Trailer, (And because I thought Intseteller would probably be good to see, Looked cool).
And now we have to wait for time to Waste away...
Anyone up for a game?
Sorry if it's really short or not the best fight. I didn't have much ideas and not a lot of time to write it.
Welcome to Scified LotS! I'm Sci-Fi King25, and I hope you enjoy your stay here! :)
I never thought of this! I'm not sure, but I think they were able to roar, but didn't do it too often.
