now i am talking about 10 foot 200 pound torvosaurus and 15 foot long 2 ton triceratps. like would that trike be able to hold his own against a buffalo or a bear? now i think yes because those horns on the trike would be very effective in combat and the frill and thick skin would help protect him from the teeth and claws. would a 200 pound torvo be able to beat a jaguar? again, i say yes because he has more effective weapons and thicker, more protetctive skin. lking about is if they could survive along side todays animals. if they do indeed survive would they thrive and where would they be most previlant. i think that mini allosaurids and torvosaurids would dominate the grassland/savannahs such as africa. while the tyrranosaur woul take over the desert.the dromeosaurids would conqur the forest and open plains. crolophosaurs and other ice theropods would capture the tundra/poles/taiga and other cold regions such as the artic.i say this because this is where they lived when the planet was theres and they have the weapons and brains to deal with it, though the already present anima;ls would compete heavily with them and some species may go extinct do you agree with my hypothesis why or why not?

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-23-2014 4:00 PMTYRANT KING - This is an extremely compelling notion you've raised! I happen to believe that prehistoric life-forms would actually be able to hold their own and then some against modern day animals even if they were to be reduced in size. The basis of my assumption comes form the fact that I happen to think that the world in which the dinosaurs dwelled was a much more savage and dreadful place than the on within which we live today. Each and every life-form from those ancient times would likely have to have been fine-tuned to be as competitve as possible in order to survive in so hostile an environment filled with super-predators that make the ones we have now look like poodles! :)

MemberCompsognathusOct-23-2014 4:11 PMi agree. an do you think other animals would die out?
Something Real
MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-23-2014 6:34 PMTYRANT KING - Hmm, I'd say that many mammalian species would likely die out due to the competition they'd face. Naturally, we humans would likely be able to step in and make certain that the saurian aggressors didn't wipe out everything with which we're used to coexisting! :)

MemberTriceratopsOct-23-2014 11:05 PMI believe that the down-sized dinosaurs would have been decent competition for today's animals, but remember that since many mid-sized to large animals from different time periods are and were adapted to specific environments, I doubt they'd do well in a different environment. For example, the woolly mammoth. They needed wide-open plains to feed on grass because their teeth weren't adapted to leaves and twigs like mastodons. Once the earth started to warm more than ever some 10,000 years ago, forests became more abundant, and they lost their food, and they had extreme difficulty dealing with the heat because of their thick hair. They all died out at that time, except for some pygmy mammoths on certain islands 3000 years ago. No one specialized species can thrive in a new change of environment. But one on one, any dinosaur could hold its own against lions and tigers.

MemberCompsognathusOct-24-2014 7:53 AMYes, but I stated that they are mini dinosaurs which means they don't need nearly as much oxygen as their giant cousins. That is one of the reasons I made them small like this.
