Rex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumTeams- What Defines Them?Sep 27, 2013
Hey Spyrannosaurus, can we not badmouth T-rex here? I thought we all put the T-rex vs Spino debate behind us?
I chose T-rex simply because he's my favorite dinosaur.
ReplyJackaranDinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus WinsSep 27, 2013
Sorry for coming in on this but, I google searched and felt that you guys are missing quite a bit about both creatures.
T-Rex's Bite - Most powerful bite known on Earth, contrast its bite to a Great White Shark (650 PSI) to a Crocodile (largest found was 5,000 PSI) T-Rex has a 6,000 PSI bite (ranging anywhere up or down from that point. The T-Rex's jaw shape gives it more damage and crushing power than that of the Spinosaurus.
The Spinosaurus bite was NOT strong, rather its bite was intended to grab and lock in its prey (Like a Stork or Crane) and bring the victim in close for its claws to mangle. THIS would be a weakness if the T-Rex was an equal sized foe, but given that a T-Rex's head could fit into a Spinosaurus mouth, the Spinosaur could wrangle a T-Rex small in size like a Crocodile could do to a Lion or Zebra.
If the T-Rex was big, the Spinosaurus would have an extreme disadvantage because its primary combat style is useless. It would have to resort to full body tackles and attempt to overpower a T-Rex, which may or may not work to its advantage.
Spinosaurus physique - The Spinosaurus resembled a Crocodile in stature and biologically, therefore; its body favored MUSCLE over bone strength and because of this the Spinosaurus primarily cruised wet climates or areas. Spinosaurus adapted to the conditions they thrived in and took down bigger (defenseless) prey, T-Rex endured the conditions (Mexico, Texas, Mongolia vs Egypt for example)
Diet - The Spinosaurus, like a Killer Whale, could round up hundreds of fish to eat and sustain its daily needs where the T-Rex would bring down a single prey to feast for a day or two. (Depending on size and injuries sustained for either creature.)
Both would settle for scraps if they needed to. (Any predator follows this principle)
Because of the environment they were raised in, its reasonable to assume that the Spinosaurus was able to obtain a consistent food source almost 24/7 from land and sea.
Now getting back to the Killer Whale, the Killer Whale only has 1 other competitor in the ocean and that is the Great White Shark. Killer Whales have been known to attack and eat Dolphins, Penguins, Sea lions, and Sharks. Are T-Rex and Spinosaurus as intelligent as Killer Whales? Probably not, but my point is that the Spinosaurus' size gives it at the VERY least an ego that it can take down a T-Rex, easily. (This is the Spino's opinion, not necessarily fact)
The T-Rex is equally as egotistical as T-Rex have taken down sauropods who were heavily armored, muscular, and as strong (if not stronger) than the Spinosaurus.
Spinosaurus Fin / sail - It's weight is null and void and a stupid argument. The Sail is a liability to the Spinosaurus in that it constricts its mobility and flexibility.
The Tail - The Spinosaurus tail is known for helping it balance and nothing else. The Tyrannosaurus Rex's tail is known for two reasons, Counter balance to the T-Rex's large and heavy skull and second for improved agility and was very flexible.
The Arms - The Spinosaurus arms are 3 feet long, an additional 2 feet or so for its claws...
The T-Rex's claws are 2 feet long with its arms roughly 1 foot.
Additional abilities -
T-Rex was one of few dinosaurs with depth perception and excellent eye sight (Ironic Jurassic park made that a weakness, in the books its a weakness to all the dinosaurs.)
T-Rex had large nostril cavities meant for picking up the scent of prey like a Bear, the T-Rex probably could detect prey ranging from 4 to 6 miles away. (A bear can smell up to 2 miles for comparison)
Finally the part EVERYONE is missing...
Jurassic Park.
Jurassic Park does not have dinosaurs, as Alan Grant stated in the beginning of Jurassic Park 3. They are mutants, therefore; possess abilities, characteristics, and unknown whether they are true or not.
T-Rex vs Spinosaurus can swing either way in both reality or in Jurassic Park, but in the example of the movie they wanted to stir some feelings and change things up a bit.
The Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park is not characteristic of what we know of Spinosaurus but, it's hollywood directing and writing.
Just as the T-Rex has the same changes.
Raptors also have a large change to them. As did the Dilophosaurus.
People seem to forget these facts.

I chose team Rex because:
1: I think it would win more ten then not
2: I think it makes the better villain
3: The king is my all time favourite dinosaur
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumTeams- What Defines Them?Sep 27, 2013
Well, I'm on team Spino just because it is been crushed by rex. Although really, I'm going to team raptor once its up, and that's because I love raptors more than any type of dinosaur.

I was watching animal planet and they did X rays of a Komodo dragon head and they actually have venom glands they don't use bacteria ,and also why would only tyrannosaurus have an infectious bite?
ReplyThe forgotten kingDinosaurs ForumTeams- What Defines Them?Sep 27, 2013
Same as what you said spyrannosaurus, Tyrannosaurus is a better villain but I think spinosaurus would win and I joined team Spino because of that
ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs ForumTeams- What Defines Them?Sep 27, 2013
Hmmm... to be honest I joined team spino although t-rex is my favorite dino. I wanted to give to spino a chance, there are too many rex fans out there. :P
ReplyNo longer activeDinosaurs ForumAre the dinosaur's extinct?Sep 27, 2013
Oh, and I forgot to mention that a farmer found a large lizard skull on his farm. A scientist carbon dated it to only 100-200 years old.
ReplyNo longer activeDinosaurs ForumAre the dinosaur's extinct?Sep 27, 2013
New megafauna is still being discovered (billi ape) and in remote rainforests, many animals are known from good evidence (South America- pelt and skull of a "spotted tiger". South America- "maned cougar" known from a picture and a skull. South America- red ground sloth known from feces, hair, pictures, torn up trees, local sightings and legends. Africa- "Dodi" . Known from video, pictures, hair, a club and alleged bones. Resembles a large gorilla, but uses tools like a Neanderthal. Africa- " Mngwa" large black cat with a bristly coat known from pictures, hair, official sightings, unknown DNA collected from saliva on mauled corpses from a village. Africa- "Marozi"- known from official sightings, skulls, pelts, pictures and legends. Resembles "simba", a normal lion, but is smaller and has faint spots. Thought to be a leopard-lion hybrid, possible and occasionally reported by people in Africa. Africa- nandi bear, a large hyena or ground sloth, described as large, carnivorous, slope backed and deadly. Known from pictures and many accounts.
Russia, Canada and Alaska- golden bear, Kachi bear and short faced bear. All three are known from pelts and large skulls kept in museums. They are all possibly synonymous, being described as a pale yellow-white colored and huge in size.
Asia- many species of bear, photographed and a known variety exist, according to natives.
Australia- megalania, called "ripper lizard". It is reported that near one large unexplored area of the outback, giant lizards reside. On the outside, there are farms. Many farmers report seeing giant lizards described as "30 feet long, seven feet tall with a huge head" coming on to their farms and eating their cows, leaving only half of the bovine and tracks behind before leaving to the forests. The giant lizards are reported to be brown or black with white speckles and mottling on their body. Preachers and farmers from the area have reported them consistently as 30 feet long, white and black or brown, living in the one area and eating cattle during the evening. The people who guide tours have refused to enter the woodlands for centuries, fearing the lizards.
African Congo- bird of terror. Described as a very large and heavy bird with a short tail and large head. Covered in feathers. Measures about twenty feet, has large and sharp teeth. Sounds like a dinosaur to me.
I think some non-avian dinosaurs survived, but not for long. Maybe a few million years. However, there are undiscovered giant animals. In particular I like Megalania's odds. Terrible lizards could survive in its form.

Kronosaurus is really cool. The reason I said no Spino/Rex/Giga is because they would be picked the most.

Good fight. I really didn`t know what to expect till the end.
Replygodzilla3580Dinosaurs ForumAre the dinosaur's extinct?Sep 26, 2013
I would love to believe they aren't extinct. When you think about it, the people living in the Congo don't know what a dinosaur is or what they are supposed to look like, so what they describe could very well be a dinosaur (assuming the people who come back and talk about these natives describing "dinosaurs"). Also, we don't have definite proof that they did go extinct. Just because we don't find them in certain rock layers doesn't mean they weren't there. Maybe we're looking in the wrong places. But then again, we won't ever have any proof that they still exist until someone captures a live dinosaur.
ReplyThe forgotten kingDinosaurs ForumIf You where a DinosaurSep 26, 2013
I would love to be a spinosaurus , live on the beach ,can practically hunt and eat whatever I want, go swimming in rivers and scare hadrosaurs.I could do whatever I want. But I can't :( so I'd then be a Kronosaurus even though it isn't a dinosaur or Hainosaurus.

Novaraptor is a made up species in Primal Carnage. Not a real raptor ;)
ReplySpinoliciousDinosaurs ForumAre the dinosaur's extinct?Sep 26, 2013
Well I know for sure the larger dinosaurs would not have survived (Because of the meteorite theory). But Novaraptors, Troodons and V-Raptors could have (though some of these didn't live in the last million years of the dinosaurs). Larger reptilian creatures may have survived if they hadn't died out before the death of the dinosaurs. (Moschops and Dimetrodon)

Yeah, Australia is a huge country, very wild and little explored.
ReplyEustreptospondylusDinosaurs ForumAre the dinosaur's extinct?Sep 26, 2013
Well some people think it may be a Megalania a 25 foot Komodo Dragon that lived in Australia 30,000 years ago which MAY actually hold some truth because they have found a Megalania skull that was only 400 years old when they were supposed to be driven to extinction by Aborigines 30,000 years earlier

It's hard to say things can be faked, but another strange thing about the burrunjor is that there are many old aboriginal rock paintings that seem to depict a dinosaur and these were made long before even western science had an idea of what dinosaurs actually looked like but again things can be faked
