Thanks.
PS- Forgot to mention, position on the list is based on weight, not length.

Good list. It's pretty accurate for a rough list.

Good fight. Sinotyrannus probably would have won.

I was rooting for Albertosaurus, but it was a well written fight. I do think your Sinotyrannus estimates are a little too high though.

Interesting video. I can say I agree with this guy on the majority of what he said.

Good fight, I was rooting for Albertosaurus, but Sino did have the advantage.

I put Diplodocus at about 80-100 ft long, but only 10-20 tons in weight. As far as Antarctosaurus goes, it's comparable to Puertosaurus or Sauroposeidon. Futalognkosaurus is about the same size as Ruyangosaurus. Like I said, the general positions on the list are debatable. I could only have so many on it after all ;)

I found it on the JP4 website.

It's definitely an Allosaurid. But these could be for anything really, did you find it with anything related to Jurassic World or just on some random site?

Has anyone seen this video? it's petty informative(minus the stupid side stuff the guy does)and pretty much says what's being said here about UCMP 118742, However i don't necessarily agree with what he says about Giganotosaurus but that's beside the point.
ReplyjurassicparkourJurassic World ForumJurassic World Storyboards?Oct 29, 2013
That's definitely Josh Brolin's character, if it's anyone. Although an Allosaurus similar to the new 2013 toy would be cooler-looking. Which website did you find these on?
ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs ForumTop 10 Biggest SauropodsOct 29, 2013
Well, I think the Diplodocus, Antarctosaurus and Futalogknosaurus should have maked through this list, and also, the Alamosaurus should be first. But these are just my thoughts.

Allosaurus just seems to predictable and not large enough. But who knows, could an Allosaurus.

Well, I have to say I agree with this list, althought the first three are arguable, but by a bit, so... nice list!

For me it's an Allosauroid, if not an Allosaurus!

Now they all worked. The last one does not look like T-rex though. It might be, but it has some variations.

I totally agree, it's was a good film, but not Jurassic Park good. I had heard about the extinction plot but heard more about the Galapagos script. Sorry if I was wrong.
Ps - my personal fav was TLW because it showed how, even thought Malcolm wanted his girlfriend away from the dinosaurs ASAP, the moment the Trex broke out he helped her not only save the people, but the Rex as well...a wonderful climax. I also lie, the overall theme(ESP the ending) of Life will find a way.

I've known about UCMP 118742, I've just been nervous about using for support since it's estimated adult size is so massive. Needless to say, by age 30, I think UCMP 118742 would have been about 16 meters long(trying to be conservative) and would weigh between 12 and 15 tons. Glad you posted this Raptorexxx.

ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs Forumtyrannosaurus sizeOct 29, 2013
Wow, that's huge!
Anyway, I agree with that, and I see highly possible, if not sure, that this specimen could reach 16,17m in adulthood, as it had almost a half of his life ahead.
Man, how heavy a 17m T-rex would be? Maybe 13-16tons?
That would be huge!

Actually, when I was younger JP3 was my favourite jurassic park movie. But later my thinking changed. Now I consider JP3 a good movie, but still uncomparable to the previous 2.

I appreciate you keeping your friends and followers informed of your situation, but there's been a few topics posted lately of people saying they'll be back, or they'll be taking time off the forum. This is better suited as a Status Update, or a PM. I'd like to keep the discussion topics to discussions about Jurassic Park, Jurassic World and Dinosaurs in general.

JP III was a decent movie(I could have done without the fight scene), it just wasn't Jurassic Park good. If that makes sense.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumDevil Rex: Supports Higher T-rex Size EstimatesOct 28, 2013
I more or less agree with you Delta(although I think 70-80 ft is a massive stretch for Spinosaurus). Now, let's keep in mind those specimens may also be larger than average, representing the max size. We won't really know until we find more skeletons(same goes for Giga). T-rex is the largest land predator we have good evidence of and it's completely possible it was the largest.
ReplyjurassicparkourJurassic Park ForumJurassic Park 3 ExplanationOct 28, 2013
It was a bit different than what you said. The Galapagos/marooned kids one came before the throw-out; this is the original story that was thrown out 5 weeks before filming:
\"New writers were brought in to scribe a story involving Pteranodons escaping from Site B and causing a spate of mysterious killings on the mainland, which was to be investigated by Alan Grant and a number of other characters including Billy Brennan, a naturalist named Simone, a tough military attaché, wealthy Paul Roby, and Roby\'s teenage son Miles. Grant\'s group crash-lands on the island, while a parallel investigation is being carried out on the mainland. The aviary sequence and laboratory set piece were initially much longer and more complex, including Velociraptors stealthily entering the hatchery as the team spends the night there. Sets, costumes, and props were built for this version, before Johnston rejected the entire script five weeks before filming in order to pursue the \"rescue mission\" plot, which had been suggested by David Koepp.[3] Johnston said that the script was never finished during production: \"We shot pages that eventually went into the final script but we didn\'t have a document\".[5] During the pre-production phase, concept artists created advertising for the film using a number of working titles including Jurassic Park: Extinction and Jurassic Park: Breakout.[6]\"

The Merchandise is Coming!
[11pm] Well, it\'s started. According to this Variety news story, Jurassic Park 3 toys will be one of the many movie licenses that will be shown off by manufacturers at this year\'s Licensing Show in New York. That\'s all the info I have, but hopefully we\'ll learn more when the show starts on Tuesday.

Release Date and More JP3 Character Info!
Hot on heels of yesterday\'s news that the JP3 filmmakers are looking for someone to play a character named \"Miles\", jthompso49 pointed me towards this recent article in USA Today, which gives a whole list of short character bios, along with the first hint of a release date: We\'ll be seeing JP3 in theaters a little over a year from now -- July 2001! Interestingly enough, the article says specifically that \"Spielberg is on the prowl for actors [for JP3]\", and that the infamous director will be serving as producer on the film. Here\'s the full text:
\"Steven Spielberg is on the prowl for actors to play the next luckless batch of islanders to battle dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park series.
\"When you have specific or even vague ideas for what you want for specific characters, you send out some kind of descriptions,\" says Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy, stressing that no parts have been filled.
Casting agents who have received the breakdowns say this is the lineup of what\'s needed:
A 12-year-old boy to play Miles, the lead character.
A 40-ish actor to play Miles\' father, Paul, a white-collar, sophisticated, Ivy League type.
A thirtysomething actress to play Paul\'s business associate and possible love interest.
A 25-ish actor to play a graduate student or paleontologist.
An Andre Braugher (Pic) type to play a 40-ish military attaché.
A thirtysomething actress to play Simone, a naturalist.
Jurassic Park 3 (not its final title), produced by Spielberg, will be directed by Joe Johnston (October Sky, Jumanji) and released in July 2001.\"

Part of the JP3 Script -- Really this time!
Well, unlike the recent debacle surrounding a set of fake pages from the Jurassic Park 3 script I posted here, Philip Neumann sent me three pages that sure do look legit. Here\'s the deal: Philip here, an aspiring actor, routinely accesses a website called ShowFax which posts \"sides\" (scenes from a film that an actor needs to know for an audition). He sent along the JP3 sides listed on the site (and posted on 6/2) for a character named \"Miles Roby\", a 12-year-old dinosaur fan. Also listed in the scene is \"Cooper\", described as a bodyguard (presuably for \"Paul Roby\", the kid\'s dad and a businessman or something) Anyway, enough of my blathering, check out the script of the scene below:

The entire script doesn\'t exist online that I know of, but this is what someone on JP Legacy found.

Colin said he wanted to capture the essence of jurassic park 1-- make you have that feeling that you get when you watch it of, excitement and adventure and so on...
And I think he will, he set his goal differently then the past directors, so he might accomplish it differently, Ill admit the first 2 were splendid, But the third one just kinda lost its umph but still was good...
ReplyEustreptospondylusDinosaurs ForumDevil Rex: Supports Higher T-rex Size EstimatesOct 28, 2013
I kinda agree more on Delta's size estimations maybe just with a Rex reaching 47ft. max and weighing 9-11 tons max. And as Delta said we have quite a significant amount of Rex fossils so we do have a general idea of what the average size was I do however agree with you Rex Fan in that the average was probably around 40ft in length possibly 42ft.. It's not the same for Spino and Giga however, which both have few holotypes (One of Spino's being destroyed of course) and some fragmentary pieces that have been found.
ReplyEustreptospondylusJurassic Park ForumJurassic Park 3 ExplanationOct 28, 2013
Well even if they chose to do that that's not much of a difference to the whole parasailing thing maybe a bit better but not a HUGE difference (I just wish they explained what ate the people on the bout the Pterosaurs or the Spino). Either way though I honestly like JPIII I think the big beef people have is the whole Spino/Rex thing which, when I first saw crushed my soul when i saw the Rex go down haha but all in all i liked it.

ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumDevil Rex: Supports Higher T-rex Size EstimatesOct 28, 2013
That means we have an average of about 42 feet for T. rex. Now, I'm just using an example here. We've only found two kinda not really complete Spinosaurus skeletons, so we can't say what the average it. So basically, they both could have been unusually small Spinosaurus, and it could have been around 70-80 feet long. Basically what I'm saying is that the dinosaurs we know less of are a lot more capable of imagining larger sizes.

ReplyHodariNunduDinosaurs Forum"The Predator" Found? T. Rex-Sized Abelisaur UnearthedOct 28, 2013
Hi there!
I'm the one who drew the giant abelisaur. The reason why there's no additional info on the internet is because it's still to be formally presented at the SVP meeting in Los Angeles in a few days, but yeah, it's very real!
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumDevil Rex: Supports Higher T-rex Size EstimatesOct 28, 2013
Personally, I don't see how Giga could be heavier than T-rex. T-rex is a lot more robust.
Anyways, yes Delta, most Tyrannosaurus' were about 40-43 ft long as adults. However, most implies the average size. That means the max was significantly higher. Devil Rex for example was already 38 ft long and nearly 7 tons at 18. If he lived to a ripe old age of 30, I see him easily getting to 43-45 ft long and 9+ tons. Also, you can't forget about C-Rex and F-Rex.
