Now, I decided to make a new competition (probably) never seen on this forum!!! :D

The contest is-

Create A Custom Dinosaur/Pterosaur/Marine Reptile!

So, with that said, I shall go over the rules-

1. Create a realistic dinosaur/pterosaur/marine reptile.

2. Give it a fitting Greek/Latin name with a translation.

3. Provide a detailed description that includes size, appearence, diet, where it lived, and when it lived.

Deadline is one week from now. Entries will be judged the day after.

Drawings are accepted but not required.

BEGIN!

Smiloraptor atrox

English translation:  Frightening knifed robber

Length:  12-15 feet

Height:  5-6 feet

Weight:  220-300 lbs

If there was any dromaeosaur that most closely resembled the Velociraptors from the Jurassic Park, it is this monster.  Smiloraptor was an incredibly fast, agile animal and a ferocious hunter, capable of reaching speeds of 40 miles an hour and jumping 15 feet straight up in the air.  It is most closely related to Deinonychius antirrhopus, as they both had a common ancestor that originated in Asia.  They also lived in the same time period (approximately 110 million years ago).  But while Deinonychus lived in North America, Smiloraptor spread in the opposite direction into western Asia and across middle Europe.

These raptors were very noisy animals, using a variety of calls complex enough to be considered a structured “language”, very much like the Velociraptors depicted in Jurassic Park 3.  They ranged from low growls and hisses to loud barks and yelps to horrifying screams.  Calls were heard from an estimated 2 miles away.

They were pack hunters with a family life very similar to wolves, where a breeding pair headed a group of sub-adult, juvenile, and infant offspring.  Smiloraptors were very caring guardians, where the older siblings helped care for the younger packmates as much as the mother and father did.  They viciously protected their young and pack from outsiders, so much so that intruding raptors were sometimes killed to present a message to other intruders to stay away.  Once an individual reached 3 years old, they were old enough to leave the pack to seek out a new territory and eventually a mate.

What makes these dromaeosaurs so different from their relatives were their 5th teeth on the upper jaw, which grew up to 3 inches long and were serrated.  While not as massive as those of any of the 3 species of Smilodon (the sabre-toothed cat), they did grow back quickly, so if a sabre was lost, it didn’t impede the raptor’s chances of bringing down prey.  Coupled with a heavily muscled neck (for a dromaeosaur), detachable jaws, and the typical dromaeosaur traits of long forelimbs and switch-blade talons on the 2nd toe, this is one dinosaur you don’t want to even get close to.

In response to the topic, this sounds like something I do to create the animals for my Day in the Life of a Dinosaur... hha maybe I'll find time to do it. (School work right now is keeping me from visiting the forum a lot.)

And to support GIFs, it's just posting an image, only you give a link to the gif, it should read it and play it.

Type: Dinosaur

Species: Tyrannosauridae

Name: Nequit Dominum

Said: Neh-Qee-ta Domm-inn-uhm

Meaning: Unstoppable Lord (Latin)

How did it come about?: A genetic mutation due to un-orthodox mating between a female Tyrannosaurus Rex and a male Spinosaurus who wondered towards North America.

Number of?: 1

Cause of Extinction: Grueling battle between a united Alpha Tyrannosaurus Rex and Alpha Spinosaurus.

A close reletive of the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex; Nequit Dominum was rougly 20 ft tall, slightly larger then that of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

What made Nequit so powerful was his unstoppable speed; being able to run at an unstoppable speed of 40 mph for incredibly long duration's of time. That plus it's bite force of 18,000 pound's, still not quite Tyrannosaurus, but immensely powerful.

He also boasted long unstoppable arms with four fingers, and jagged claws. He was immensely durable, an unstoppable lord like his name he could tank anything; if his bones were to break however, his body regenerates the damage extremely fast, how did this demon come about?

He was definitley a Tyrant to his land which resided in what is modern day Saudi Arabia and ended in KT North America; he terrorized the like's of Tarbosaurus and preyed upon Titanosaurs. He was truly an unstoppable lord.

Good grief.

@ Elite Raptor 007 - "the females give birth, not laying eggs" … Dinos are all reptiles, so I guess all of them only lay eggs. I've never heard or read of Dinos giving birth to live young, at least not yet.

@DESTOROYAHX - Yeah, that's my "WOW" Factor of my dinosaur, i make giving birth because that's my goal, to make something different, and with 160 Million Years to evolve, i'm sure some dino were giving birth as well, BTW i never see a Pachy used it's bone head to hunt, because..., you know, pachy has pretty vunreable skull.

@ALLOTITAN - That's an interesting picture of your's, draw an Allosaur with feathers, and BTW, welcome back.

@Elite Raptor 007 - i assumed that we have to create something that might've lived during the Triassic and Cretaceous period, but that's not stated in the given tasks … my fault. ;)

Oh yeah, almost forget -

@VIRTUALVEL - your dino's are good but maybe too heavy, your dino's are just about 20 feet-that's mean it's only 6 meter and height about 5 meter, but 16 ton ??? its more suitable for a 50 foot long (15 meters) dino than 20 foot long, it's too heavy for a dino that size, it should be about 4-6 ton, that's more suitable.

@SCI-FI KING25 - can we make 2 dino cause i wanna post another one.

2nd Dinosaur :

Spinonychivenator Horridus

Horrid spined-claw hunter

Species : Spinosaurid

Lenght : 40 Ft

Height :25 ft to the spine

Weight : 10 ton

Time and Place : South America 125-80 MYA

Description :

Spinonychivenator is the 2nd largest spinosaur of all time, it like a typical spinosaurid, its soaring spine is only half of the one found in spinosaur and it can be lower down, just like those of frilled lizard. it has a snout with a more meat slicing teeth than fish-grabbing tooth, it has the iconic 12 inch long claw on it's arm, making one from Notronychus look like fingernail. it ha long tail and meat slicing foot claw. and a really sparkling head crest, that male used for propaganda around mating season.

Movement :

Spinonychivenator walked on 4 leg, but the big armed tucked back, so it walked on knuckles. the top speed is around 50 mph.

Hunting Behaviour :

Spinonychivenator hunt by chasing with 2 leg, it ambushed it prey like amargasaurus. than it chased it down and use it's oversized claw for sink it into prey, caused the puncture of internal organ, prey died by blood lost.

Extinction Cause :

but the cause of extinction, is the other predator that ruled, Astrapestoraptor. even thoughjt it survived for up to 80 MYA, the new predator is mostly taken the spinosaurus prey right after. and raid every eggs they find, but... spinonychivenator not hesitated to attack young, juvenniles and even pregnant female Astrapestoraptor. but eventualy, the superioryty of Astrapestoraptor lead to Spinonychivenator extinction.

my 2nd Dino. Hope you guys like it.

@Alphadino65 - Smilodon (lat. smile- „chisel“ und odus „tooth“) means chisel-tooth. Smiloraptor atrox means frightening chisel-thief. Knife/knifed is culter/cultro … Cultroraptor Atrox would be right.

@Gorillagodzilla - Nequit is the conjugation of nequeo, that stands for I can't or i am unable to! Nequit Dominum means I can't be a lord! The Word you are searching for is either Effreno Dominus or Indomitus Dominus! :P
