"eye of Sauron"
Length: 11 meters(?)
Weight: 4.5 tons(?)
Era: Cretaceous
A predatory theropod that is well versed in predator v predator combat in its natural time period, When Sauroniops Pachytholus was ressurrected as an attraction for Jurassic World, it became apparent very fast these creatures must be housed solitarily. They actively kill other carnivores for no other reason then to get rid of competition. This predator is very prone to disease, and they do not fair very well in captivity.
Chilantaisaurus
"Ch'i-lan-t'ai lizard"
Length: 12 meters
Weight: 5.5 tons
Era: Late Cretaceous
Chilantaisaurus prowls the open prairies of Isla Nublar constantly on the search for food. They constantly kill anything they see as a viable prey item, and these megalosaurs seems to prefer the stegosaurs, mainly kentrosaurus. These massive theropods kill with speed and stealth unrivaled on the entire island. When mating season comes around, the Chilantaisaurus seems to calm down. They will go months without eating, defending the nest site. It is thought they constantly attack and kill herbivores in preparation for this.
Here we go..
After months of tentative watching over the dirt that sheltered the next generation of voracious megalosaurs, the male Chilantaisaurus vacated the nesting grounds in a hurry. He was right to do so, for females became fiercly aggressive when their clutch hatches, killing just about anything that is hapless enough to wander into the area. His stomach growling with hunger, he located the carcass of a pacheycephalosaurus the mated pair had killed a month or so back. The flesh was grossly decayed, and a large swarm of flies now surrounded the skeletal remains. He sniffed the dead animal momentarily, before moving on in search of fresh meat.
Little did he know, he had become the target of another blood thirsty killer.
A large bull Sauroniops had located the megalosaur pair via the scent markings on the various hardwood trees scattered throughout their meadow territory. Most predators steered clear of this area, but this carcharodontosaur species used them as arrows- sniffing them out like a bloodhound to kill off competition. Now, the behemoth predator stared anticipatingly at the Chilantaisaur.
Very slowly, he began to flank the megalosaur. He kept upwind from the theropod, making sure the equally as lethal creature. He got within a few meters, before hiding his immense bulk behind a lonesome junifer bush.
The megalosaur had also set an ambush, but this was for the fleet footed ornithomimus. A small group of six individuals gathered at a withering stretch of river, obviously oblivious to the blood thirsty killer lurking just meters to their left.
The Sauroniops watched as the megalosaur rushed from his cover, his strong vice like jaws easily crushing the elongated neck of a hapless ornithomimus. He pitched the dying creature to the ground violently, then ripped open its gut with a swift stroke of his forearm, disembowling it. He began to feast on the ornithomimid while it was still alive.
After a moment, the Carcharodontosaur began to creep forward. He came to the spot where the Megalosaur had set his ambush as he carefully calculated his point of attack.
When the Chilantaisaurus bent down to get at the ornithomimids liver, the Sauroniops began his assault.
He charged like a bat out of hell, his shark toothed jaws poised for the kill.
His noisy and brash approach ruined the attack, for the Chilantaisaurus was alerted before he even got close enough. The megalosaur jerked back, and watched wide eyed as the Carcharodontosaur rushed by. He stopped on a dime, turning and wasting no time in attacking. He bit down on the megalosaurs shout, his teeth scraping the maxilla and effectively keeping the Chilantaisaurus from opening his easily as lethal maw.
The Megalosaur wasn't having this, however.
He jerked his head violently side to side, taking the Sauroniops with him in his frantic attempt to break free.
He shook free, but the Carcharodontosaurs teeth lay imbedded in his skull. Blood streamed down his snout as he went on a defensive front.
He roared at his attacker, before lowering his head and rushing forward. His head collided directly in the Sauroniops' neck, causing the massive reptile to give a coughing roar of alarm. He swung his head in a wide arc, locking his jaws around the Sauroniops' throat.
The eye of sauron lizard was not about to have this, driving his talon like digits deep into the Chilantaisaurus' vunerable neck and back of the skull.
The megalosaur abandoned the attack, backing away and roaring at his adversary. The Sauroniops gave a responding roar, and as the megalosaur began to back away, he charged once more.
This time, he came in at a slight angle and caught the megalosaur off guard. He locked his shark like maw around the megalosaurs neck, and attempted to throw him to the ground. The megalosaur thrusted his weight in the Carcharodontosaurs direection, causing him to loose balance, and topple over.
Not before his jaws took a considerable amount of skin off of the Chilantaisaurus' neck though, leaving a gruesome looking laceration and leaving neck vertebrate exposed.
Seizing the oppurtunity, the megalosaur pounced on the toppled Sauroniops. He grasped the vunerable front of the neck on his vice like jaws....
and unceromoniously crushed the windpipe, exerting four tons of force in his vice like jaws. The Sauroniops made no sound as his life was vacated from his corpse. Shakily, the Chilantaisaurus walked back to his kill and began to feed once more.
Authors note: Pound for pound, Carcharodontosaurs need a sizeable size advantage to overwhelm an opponent in interspecific conflict, and this smaller species didn't have that against this immense Megalosaur. It is widely accepted megalosaurs had greated jaw mechanics then most predatory dinosaur groups, and could exert forces rivaling some tyrannosaur species. A large megalosaur would definetly be a worthy opponent for any creature it was facing.
Odds: 65-35 in favor of Chilantaisaurus
