MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2014 8:37 AMNow, A fair amount of you on this site, Have always wondered what it'd be like to discover a new Dinosaur, or uncover a fossil...
But, Did you know you can do that right now?
At your age.
(Or any age)
Anything, Is acheivable if you start somewhere.
I present a Theoretical Guide for Becomeing a Paleontologist:
Find your local dinosaur Museum.
Ask about a summer job.
Move up from summer job to Part time job.
Stay at part time job until you know some of the Museums Paleontoligsts fairly well.
Ask if you can go on a dig with them.
Ask if you can go on antoher.
Start Routinely And Activley participating in digs.
Go to college, Get your degree in that field.
Return to your musuem.
Go get some Sponsors to fund your dig.
Go dig.
Repeat all steps in a new town. Become ultimate troll.
I kid on that last part, But sometimes It is as simple as that. Just like many things in life, You need to know someone who knows what their doing, to get into it. Hence why you need to go on multiple digs.
I know Renknown Paleos. Such as Horner and Backer Have been in Drumheller for times working on the sites up here. They tend to take what they find back to the states though.
Anyways, if you get a Renknown Paleo to suggest you for a dig, Your golden.
(I posted this Because It's currently only been me and Dinosteve on the forums for the past two hours... This site is too addictive... "It's like internet cocaine." COming from someone who doesn't do drugs... That kinda sums it up...)
Well... Folks I'm out for today I guess...
Guess I'll go cook some food or something...
Sure is lonely...
I'm gettin' outta here.
Peace.

It's alright.
My family left Germany before the Great war broke out. Moved over to canada.
One of my Grandfathers Fought against the Nazis.
I do embrace my German heritage, Even though I've never presonally been to germany.
I take no offense to it.
(I used google translate aswell, I'm still learning german... It's a rather interesting language)

There is no Such thing as a "Full canadian"
There is also no such thing as a "Full american."
Now, Canada is basically a Multi-cultural blender, Which through the generations becomes a Born Canadain.
We are very distant from our german past. My grandparents, were most likely german, My grandparents are not. Most everyone I know either has a German, French, Or another Country from that Central Eroupean area, Due to the Creation of Canada being by Immigrants coming here for a new life.
Because I don't feel like Gorgin you on a class we are taught repeditavly... I won't go too far.
Same tends to go for our Southern neighbor. Both countries were built off of Immigrants, (America tends to rely more on them, And not admit it or accept it as much as they should.)
I stand and Salute the Maple leaf.
But I will never forget, Nor stop honouring, The roots that allowed me to salute that flag.

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2014 8:08 PMOn a different Note, This is one of the biggest turn outs I've had in a long time for one of My Disscusions..
I might do this again, But with another Field Relevant to Dinosaurs.

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2014 10:49 PM@Carnosaur,
Let's just say that it would give Saurophoganax a run for its money. ;)
My estimates are at 38-41 ft long, 9-11 ft tall, and around 5-6 tons. BIG Torvosaurus. The best part? It is still a T. tanneri.

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2014 11:12 PMI guess Torvo did get huge then...how complete is it? Are they certain it's torvosaurus? man, that got me all kinds of pumped for some reason. Exciting, truly!

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2014 11:16 PMDecently. Still a holtype, but enough to tell what it is, and how big it was. A near complete skull and set of arms. ;) This thing's the size of a (pretty) small Rex.

MemberCompsognathusJul-10-2014 8:23 AMThat's awesome. when's it going to be officially described? Keep me updated on this thing man, it sounds like a game changer...mainly because most think T. Tanneri is a 9-10 meter animal. This thing though...well it's huge!

MemberCompsognathusJul-10-2014 10:47 AMWill do. It is huge, I can say that with complete honesty. 12 meters, four foot long skull. It depends. We're still pulling the thing out of the ground. So, to be honest, probably not for a couple years. :/
