"Giant thief"
Length: 8 meters
Weight: 2 tons
Era: Cretaceous
Despite the name, Megaraptor is not a dromeaosaur. It's a genus of neovenatorid, and a large one at that. It does, however, share a mixture of behaviors from multiple theropod families. It sticks to the rivers of Nublar like the spinosaurs, lives in small packs like the dromaeosaurs, and takes on the sauropods like the Carcharodontosaurids. It's natural history is rather unknown to Ingen field scientists, though their brood size was noted at thirteen eggs. Females are fiercly territorial.
Tuojiangosaurus
"Tuo River Lizard"
Length: 7 meters
Weight: 4 tons
Era: Jurassic
An animal well adapted to take care of itself, Tuojiangosaurus are solitary animals. This is a peculiar behavior for stegosaurs, who regularly roam in herds of up to 40 individuals or more. They do however, congregate where food in plentiful. It was noted that this animal behaves more like an ankylosaur rather then its plated kin. These vegitarians do not possess the razor sharp intelligience of the dromaeosaurs either. One was seen putting its thagomizer through a sycamore tree when the birds on the highest branches tweeted their usual morning tune.
Here we go..
A moonless night; thunderclouds roared overhead; wind howled through the dead wood; the waters of the lake ran disturbed. At the center of it all, The Tuojiangosaurus herd grazed absentmindedly at the small shrubbery. To their right roughly a hundred yards away, stood the remains of one of Ingen's main breeeding facilities. its unfinished construction sites for new additions to the nursuries were left to rust. The overall impression one would receive upon witnessing such a site with their own two eyes would be to let this place – home to death, darkness and emptiness – rightfully fade into obscurity
In other words, it was the perfect setting for predators to lurk about.
From the lake, a megaraptor rose steadily from the water. The drenched slasher made his way onto land, taking lumbering steps, operating more on instinct than purpose. He trudged his way through mud and water, each footfall signifying a return to strength and form, for this was the territory he had been reared in. Swimming the arduous trek from the nearest atoll had taken its toll on the massive flesh eater.
The Megaraptor halted, as giant shadows materialized from the darkness. Brief flashes of lightning and a roar of thunder illuminated the figures… quadrupeds with large diamond shaped plates, their tails tipped with knife like thagomizers.
The Megaraptor stopped behind a large burned out tree. From his position, he surveyed the herd for any old or injured individuals, for they were the easiest targets. He zeroed in on an individual missing an eye, the flanks littered with many scars.
Before the Megaraptor made his move, the stegosaur had already caught his scent. They began to swish their dagger tipped tails in agitation, and that's when the Allosauroid made his move. He ran in at his target, claws at the ready and jaws agape. Instead of running, the Stegosaur stood his ground and swished his tail in a wide vertical arc. The Megaraptor barely avoided the blow, pulling his slenderly built skull away at the last second. He pulled off his attack, and vaguely noted that they were the only two animals still in the small clearing. He began to circle his intended stegosaurian dinner.
The Tuojiangosaurus yet again opted for a wide arc with his tail, stamping his elephant like feet in agitation and always keeping his good eye in the predators direction. The Allosauroid brashly rushed in again; the stegosaur swinging his tail once more - and this time it connected! The Megaraptor staggered back, the thagomizer spikes slipped free of the Creature’s now bloodied forelimb. A large hole was now spurting blood like a turned on faucet. Enraged, the Allosauroid once more charged the stegosaur. This time, from a flanking position. He clawed at the Stegosaurs' right rear leg, leaving three deep lacerations right above the knee joint. The agile predator had once again just barely avoided a date with death as the thagomizer swished by his skull.
By now, The predator had figured out the Tuiojiangosaurus' defensive strategy. The wide vertical arcs it would create in swishing it's lethal tail had a fundemental flaw. He took lurching steps towards the herbivore, and when the tail was poised to strike, he ducked underneath and went for a diagonal slash. He connected; The herbivore grunted, pained, as the talons drew a gash across his left rear leg.
That's when the plant muncher threw in something unexpected.
The next thing the Megaraptor knew, the Stegosaur was charging right at him. Before he knew it, he was on the ground.he soon realized… this was going to be no easy kill.
The Allosaurian slasher had understimated his potential dinner, and he now drew off the attack. He backed away from the now defense minded herbivore. He backed away into the trees, issuing out a low crocodilian growl. The Tuojiangosaurus cautiously stepped back, his tail sstill swinging at this point, albeit absentmindedly. He swung his head looking to his right or his left, searching for his rival…
He backed away, lifting his tiny head into the northern bound breeze hoping to catch the sent of his herd.
The attack came from the left; there was no sound. The Megaraptor came blazing from the trees, and jumped onto the Stegosaurs side. His foot and forearm claws ripping through the tough stegosaurid hide like a knife through butter.
The Tuojiangosaurus bellowed, a sound of unadulterated agony and frustration. He swayed back and forth fiolently, causing the predator to loose his grip.
The flesh eater was slammed back into the Earth, but ol’ stegosaur wasn’t finished yet. He turned and attempted to stomp the Allosauroid into oblivion.
As the massively built herbiore lifted its right front leg, the Megaraptor bit upwards and latched onto it in desperation. The flesh was pulled away from the bone, sending the Tuojiangosaurus rearing backwards in pain and fear. Now, it was time to finish what he had started.
A series of slashes ensued then. The Megaraptor, fueled by adrenaline and the anticipation of a kill, stabbed and sliced at the thick hide. Swaths of blood the rich green grashes, staining them an ugly purple color.
Exhausted by the ordeal the mighty tuojiangosaurus fell, like a great tree, hitting upon the earth with a heavy crash. The Allosauroid loomed over his opponent, his head giving a quizzical tilt. He stared at thestegosaurs body for a minute, before ripping its stomach open and gourging himself. His body ached immensly from the clash with the armored herbivore, but being in familiar territory, and a feast that would last him for days, he would recover just fine.
