Carnosaur

"Frozen Crested Lizard"
Length: 8 meters
Weight: 2 tons
Era: Jurassic
A theropod that remains poorly known, even to Ingen. Dr. Wu wrote on this animal stating " It's natural history and behaviors remain unknown to our scientists. This animal seems very hesitant to interact with human beings, and when it does, it attacks with a fiery hatred. We have released 7 on Nublar, and our field scientists have tagged them. We are eager to see their findings." Cryolophosaurus prefers live prey, not even nibbling on cow carcasses when offered. They eat the various reptiles and mammals that are unfortunate to wander into their enclosure. During its hayday, it was the apex predator. On the islands though, it's dwarfed by almost every other enormous theropod. Their ecological niche has subsequently been altered.
Allosaurus
"Strange Lizard"
Length: 8 meters
Weight: 3 tons
Era: Jurassic
Allosaurus is a cave dweller. These specialized carnivores lurk in the abundant caves of the northern Crestirian mountain range, ambushing the unfortunate stegosaurs that have themselves adapted to mountainous conditions. The hatchet jaw function of Allosaurus makes a kill more effective, albeit brutal. The animal in question dies of a combination of shock and blood loss. Like other allosaurs, Patel had their enclosure roofed off. They are known for their astounding leaping ability.
Here we go..
From his enclosure, the Allosaurus could see a variety of morsels on two legs meandering around. Sometimes, they would stand and stare at them, his jaws dripping with saliva at the mere thought of a kill. Sometimes, he and the other Allosaurs would attempt to get at them, but the plexiglass walls would always thwart them. They seemed to notice, and were often seen trying to get through the barriers. When visitors would take pictures with their cellular devices and old film dependant cameras, the theropods would retreat to the caves. It seemed the noises annoyed or upset them a great deal.
All of this, was recorded by head keeper Sandra Lee. She was a Carnosaur specialist, and at the mere ate of 28, the one with the most experience in the field. Patel had sent her to Nublar to observe the behaviors or large carnosaurian theropods. He, unlike Hammond, had taken great precautions. Spending two months in the field had given Lee a greater understanding on how these prehistoric creatures operated then anyone else could ever dream of.
Lee had insisted that Carnosaurs - especially Allosaurus - be fed live prey. The enclosure was usually taped off during feedings, as visitors in the past had complained about the gore. Sandra didn't mind though; to her it was fascinating. She watched tensely as the oldest male, the one with a distinct yellow circle on the lower jaw approached the plexiglass wall. He sniffed hesitantly, then gave an ominious growl. Lee had begun to approach when the panicked shouts of visitors had her full attention.
To her horror, The resident Cryolophosaurus pair had somehow managed to escape their enclosure. They now took nipping bites at the terror filled visitors, not really interested in slaughtering them as they ran by. They were making their way to the Allosaurus enclosure with a determined gate.
A deep thudding sound from behind her caught her ear, and then the shattering of plexiglass. She snapped her head around and saw the Big male Allosaurus rushing to meet the Cryolophosaurus pair. After about a minute, the small female Allosaurus - the one Lee had nicknamed "Tiny" - Came running by like a bullet.
"oh Jesus" thought Lee. She had seen many conflicts between large bodied carnivores on Nublar, and most ended up with a dead body on the ground.
She watched in dazed horrow as the Theropods engaged in a roaring showdown. The Male Cryolophosaurus stamped his feet and hissed, his impressively sized crest turning a crimson shade. The female hid behind him, peeking out the side of his body at the two Allosaurs.
Lee turned and took her tranquilizer gun, keeping one eye on the dueling carnivores and another for the other resident allosaurus'. They had emerged from their cave, and now walked toward the fractured plexiglass wall. She took a shot at the smallest one. She hadn't taken a gander at the doseage, which was set for mid-sized Tyrannosaurs. When she fired, The allosaur closest to her location dropped immidiately. The other three retreated to their cave. She then turned her attention to the fighting theropods.
The female Cryolophosaurus had gotten on top of the female Allosaurus, and the two males were sparring. They engaged in a bizarre grappling match, with the heavier Cryolophosaurus easily getting the edge over the Allosaurus.
A high pitched shriek of pain and rage gathered in Lee's ears, and she turned to see the female Allosaurus had ripped the Ceratosaurs throat out. Her corpse now falling limply to the ground in a bloody mess.
She took the oppurtunity, firing three rounds into the Allosaurs torso. She fell immidiately, hitting the ground like a sack of potatoes.
The two males were still fighting furiously, The Cryolophosaurus a beyond all recognition mess of lacerations and bite marks. The Ceratosaur had been pinned, but still fought like hell. These animals were known around the park for their fighting prowess.
Sandra Lee watched in horror as the Cryolophosaurus snapped its jaws upward with suprising agility, locking the steak knife filled jaws around the Allosaurs neck. He flipped the allosaurus to the ground, disembowling him with razor like talons.
She didn't hesitate after the killing blow, firing two rounds into the neck and one into the thigh. The Cryolophosaurus still stood, and issued a horrenduously loud roar. It took four bounding steps towards the theropod keeper, before crashing to the ground.
" Get the vet techs out here, we have another bloody mess" She said a bit too calmly. She had seen too many of these predator on predator fights on the park, and to her the reasons for the aggression levels were unknown. She hadn't seen anything like this on Nublar, the carnivores usually minded their own business. But here....things were different. She would have a talk with Patel about that later, though. She walked down the steps leading up to the enclosure and was greeted by the flashing lights of the vet tech truck.
Winner....Undecided.
Both had a casualty, vote in the comments for who you want to see move on to round 3!
Author's note: These carnivores are almost equally matched in every aspect. Both were apex predators of their respective times, both were well equipped with impressive jaws and prehensile arms, the only thing Allosaurus had over Cryolophosaurus was it may have hunted in packs. That's why this became a 2 v 2, to even the playing field. Real close one, hard to pick a winner.
Odds: 50-50
