Utahraptor
"Utah Thief"
Length: 7 meters
Weight: 1 ton
Era: Cretaceous
Unusual for a dromaeosaur, Utahraptor is a solitary animal; it is also the largest. They are intolerant of other members of their species, attacking and seriously maiming or even killing them if they intrude on their territory. Utahraptor behaves much like the modern day raptorial birds, even sitting on low hanging bushes and ambushing any hapless animal to wander below.
Australovenator
"Southern Hunter"
Length: 8 meters
Weight: 1.5 tons
Part of "Project D" Australovenator - and other southern carnivores - were released on Isla Sorna. Project D was to see how well the flesh eating monstrosities Ingen kept pumping out would survive if they were not genetically lysine deficient. Sightings have been reported all over the western side of the island, and yet Ingen field biologists have yet to make any detailed observations about these Neovenatorid Allosauroids.
Here we go..
The bull Australovenator had just made his way through Isla Sorna's dense conifer forest, when a fork of lightening struck the ground with a thunderous boom. The dry plain in front of him was set ablaze; the red and orange flames danced around angrily consuming everything in their path.
Instinct screamed at him to turn and run, and he did. He took off back the way he came, his legs screaming in pain. The gust of wind had made matters worse, spreading the life choking ash and debris into the sky. An all too familiar smell of smoke had alerted the forest residents danger was imminent, and many animals of various shapes and sizes joined the Australovenator in the mad dash for life.
The Utahraptor had capitalized on the life and death situation. She had situated herself in the fork of a large Seqioua tree, and now waited patiently for an animal of appropriate size to run by. The flames did not bother her, for she could out run the flames if the situation demanded it.
She had an endless supply of targets, but this was more a bad thing then a good thing. She had a hard time choosing out one animal as dinner. And then, The Australovenator was beginning to pass under the branch. Without a second thought, the Utahraptor launched herself from the branch.
She landed on his back, sending the unsuspecting Neovenatorid plummeting to the ground. The Dromaeosaur began to rip away at the thick scaly hide with her claws and teeth, only making small lacerations and tears. The now enraged Australovenator had forced himself to his feet, throwing the raptor to the ground. He roared and attempted to make a get-away, but the Utahraptor was too quick. She cut him off, and now stood face to face with him.
By now, the flames had completely encircled the two oblivious predators, who were now engaged in yet another life and death struggle.
The Utahraptor made the first move, jumping straight at the Australovenator poised to rip out his throat. He ducked out of the way, and as the Utahraptor landed he bit down on her tail. He swung his head around violently, tossing the Dromaeosaur a few feet. She landed dangerously close to the white hot flames.
As she got up, she could see the neovenatorid coming at her like a freight train. She dashed ten yards before turning and facing her intended dinner.
He lowered his head and rammed into the Utahraptor, once again sending her to the ground. He was on her instantly, biting down around her ribcage and clawing at her hide visciously. The Utahraptor kicked out, her ten inch sickle claw catching the Allosauroid on the lower jaw. He grunted in pain and stepped backwards, giving the raptor time to get to her feet.
She hissed, but the sound was drowned out by falling timbers and the roars of the fire. The two predators ran at eachother, when the tallest tree of the forest came crashing down. It landed between them in a ball of white and orange flame.
The neovenatorid had seen the tree crashing down, and diverted himself from the course of attack. However, the Dromaeosaur was not as lucky. She too had called off her attack, but her elongated tail was still in the enormous trees collision course. Her body was forced to the ground violently, her tail crushed under the massive weight. She screeched in agony as her tail was being essentially cooked under the intense heat. She clawed and kicked, but this did nothing but make the situation worse. The flame danced around the Utahraptors' body, before ultimately catching the theropod ablaze. Her dying shrieks were drowned out by the intense roar of the fire.
The Australovenator had found a gap between the flames, albeit it was a far distance off. His injuries were the last thing on his mind, although they screamed in intense pain with every running plod that he took. As he cleared the gap the flames closed their circle, ensuring the death of any animal hapless enough to still be in that area. He kept running until he exited the forest, smoke inhalation and the battle with the Utahraptor had taken their toll. He slumped to the ground, and it would be days before he would recover.
Winner...Australovenator!

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
