Giganotosaurus
"Giant Southern Lizard"
Length: 13 meters
Weight: 7 tons
Era: Cretaceous
Giganotosaurus is a bit of a mystery. They are very elusive, shy animals. Their numbers are thought to be restricted to Nublar, as they have never been sighted on Sorna. Giganotosaurususually roam in pairs, occasionally 3 to 4 if they are a mated pair with offspring. Giganotosaurus has a gentle demeanor, only becoming violent when it is hunting. They rarely fight, even when challenged for a kill. They have been seen taking down a Zhuchengtyrannus that got awful close to a youngster.
Therizinosaurus
"Scythe Lizard"
Length: 10 meters
Weight: 5 tons
Era: Cretaceous
An herbivore that ditched the flesh eating days millenia ago. Competition had become to rough, and these odd specialized creatures took advantage of the more abundant plant life. Their elongated necks are an evolutionary adaptation allowing them to get at foliage unreached by other plant eaters. Their enormous size - and the enormous claws that give them their name - guarantee safety from the majority of predators.
Here we go..
The miragia was on the fringes of pure horror as the tops of the trees around him swayed wildly around. Thudding footsteps were beginning to close in, an odd rumbling sound resonated throughout the canopy. In a cold sweat, the stegosaur turned his heavily armored body to the side, his sickle tipped tail swinging slowly but menacingly all at the same time.
The resonating rumble was coming closer, and that's when the stegosaur caught sight of enormous claws making their way directly towards him.
What happened next was almost comical, a large male Therizinosaurus lumbered into the small clearing. He walked almost lazily, his elongated neck holding his small head clear above the ground. He too one look at the stegosaur before turning to a large conifer tree.
He stripped the leaves off of the lower branches, absentmindedly wrapping his scythe lie arms around the trunk. Put on ease by this ridiculous looking plant grazer, the Stegosaur resumed foraging.
Little did he realize, an immense female Giganotosaurus was stalking in the shadows of the forest. He had trailed the Therizinosaur for the past seven or so miles, and the dull minded herbivore had no idea in the slightest. The stegosaur the Giganotosaurus had seen represented a problem, an early warning system for his intended prey. He would need to attack, and do it fast.
Slowly but surely, he made his way towards the Therizinosaurus. His mottled brown and green coloration hid him almost perfectly from the idle plant muncher. He stopped some ten feet away from the animal, who still was unaware of his presence. His back turned, this would almost be easy.
As the Therizinosaurus lowered his head to get at previously unnoted branches, the Carcharodontosaur moved in.
He sprinted at the herbivore, and bit down near the base of the neck. The momentum sent the Therizinosaurus' body crashing against the tree, completely uprooting it and sending it to the forest ground. Both animals, interlocked in conflict, went with it. The fall had caused the predator to loose his grip, and as he went for another bite the Therizinosaurus moved out of the way. Instead of tasting flesh, she got a mouthful of bark.
By the time she recovered, the Therizinosaurus had no gotten back to his full height. He towered over the predator. He bellowed, the deep resonating pitch that had frightened the stegosaur so badly. He brandished his dagger ended forearms, extending them to the right and left.
Intimadated, yet undeterred, the Giganotosaurus circled the lethally endowed herbivore. While doing this, he would snap his jaws out from the murky shadows, startling the Therizinosaur enough that it would lash out.
What the scythe lizard failed to realize is the Giganotosaurus had doubled back, and he lunged out unexpectedly from the right. Her teeth caught the elbow region of the Plant grazers arm, and he grunted in agony. He attempted to free himself; for the pain was becoming unbearable at this point. He thrusted his weight in the Giganotosaurus' direction, but she held on with bull dog like tenacity.
The two animals, locked in a life and death dance, were sent stumbling around the clearing. By now, the Giganotosaurus had shredded through major tendons and muscles in the Therizinosaurs arm. As she let go, it fell limply to the herbivore's side. She backed away, waiting to see what her prey would do.
When it started to bleat, and back away she rushed him.
She collided with him, her massive head squishing against the fatty tissue of his chest. He wheezed, but was put in a strategic defensive position. He slashed at her ribs, tearing the flesh open and unleashing a torrent of blood. She grunted, but this was more out of suprise then pain. Adrenaline had seized the forty five foot giant southern lizard. She snapped her jaws wildly at the Therizinosaurs neck, taking chunks of downy fluff instead of a tasty morsel. She backed away, trying to rid herself of the odd tasting feathers.
The Therizinosaurus capitalized, clashing at the Carcharodontosaurs vunerable neck and skull. Her claws inflicted a gruesome laceration across her snout, the bone now visible and glinting in the lowering suns rays.
Growling, she backed down. The warm flow of blood down her skull unnerved her a great deal. The herbivore, now standing at his full height like as opposing as ever. He gave his imposing, resonating growl once more.
Having had enough, the Giganotosaurus turned and went on the search for easier prey. Perhaps the stegosaur that had been here earlier would make a more suitable meal..
Winner: Giganotosaurus!
