MemberCompsognathusMay-10-2014 10:52 AMSo I'm sure many, if not all of you are familiar with the scene in Jurassic Park III when the Spinosaurus smashes through that huge fence and emerges on the other side completely unscathed and unphased. Well, in my physics class, we have to find a movie with bad physics. So I used this scene. After doing some calculations, I figured out the Spinosaurus could not smash through the fence like it did. I can share the presentation I made as it goes into more detail with you guys as it's on Google Docs. However, I need your email. If you don't feel comfortable leaving it in a comment, you can just PM me. If I already have your email, just let me know if you want it shared with you. Keep in mind I had to make this for my classmates and I had to explain some things many of you already know. Like I said, let me know :)
PS- You'll notice on the slide that says Clip Backgroud, it says Play Clip in small leters. Ignore that as it doesn't do anything. It's just a reminder for me to show the clip at that point in the presentation.

What about Metal Fatigue, Rust, ageing, And other Atributes from the enviroment?
Life cannot be contained, it breaks walls, crashes through barriers sometimes painfully, but uh... Life uh, finds a way

MemberCompsognathusMay-10-2014 11:09 AMI know what you mean, but this concept was more general than that. I'm talking in a perfect world. I know in the movie the fence may have been 20 years old, but I'm saying in general. The point of the scene was to show that the Spinosaurus was nearly unstoppable. They wanted to show this titan of the Cretaceous could do anythng, even smash through a reinforced steel fence. Would you like me to share the presentation with you?

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMay-10-2014 12:19 PMThat Spinosaurus could smash through anything, as long as it wasn't wooden. If I were stuck on Isla Sorna, I'd carry a stick for protection against Spinosaurus.
It could smash through a reinforced steel fence designed to keep dinosaurs out, but a small, wooden door is a bit much.
Oh, and a tree.
Jack of all trades. Master of none
