UPDATE: Variety have edited their original reporting, clarifying that the footage shown did NOT actually involve a fire-breathing mutant T-Rex:
Correction: An earlier version of this article mistakenly stated that a mutant T-Rex breathes fire. That was a mistake. There’s simply a lot of fire and flame in the scene. Apologies to paleontologists.

Yes, you read that headline correctly. Universal recently unveiled a new trailer for Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth at CinemaCon and Variety have a description of what the footage contained. While we're almost certain they're referring to the movie's new D-Rex mutant creature, they mention a fire-breathing mutant Tyrannosaurus... their recollection of the event are as follows:
There’s a dramatic attempt to steal the eggs of a quetzalcoatlus that ends in a high-flying race to escape. Throw in a mosasaur attack that nearly capsizes the boat of a group of researchers and their armed guides. Add in some kind of mutated dinosaur that basically looks like a fire-breathing T-Rex. Oh, and for the less bloodthirsty viewers, there’s also the appearance of a cuddly baby triceratops. Only the creature starts freaking out because — you guessed it — a much more menacing primordial beast needs a snack and only our fearless heroes will hit the spot.
By their description, we're going to assume the fire-breathing T-Rex is in fact the film's bizarre genetically mutated Dinosaur, known as the D-Rex. We knew this abomination would have some unique characteristics but breathing fire was not one we saw coming.
