Chapter 14

End Game

Synca finds himself in a thick forest of trees. He can see daylight ahead. Synca increases his speed to reach the end of the tree line. He knows Storm is on the other side. When he reaches the other side, his jaw drops. Synca watches as a fully grown Storm battles with the land’s most notorious killer at the cliff’s edge. Storm is slammed to the ground by the hideously scarred, one armed killer from hell.

Scarface rakes his claws down Storm’s flank. But before he can step away, Storm latches onto his ankle, breaking it. Scarface roars in pain. He has trouble putting weight on his foot now. However, Scarface is no stranger to pain. He quickly recovers. He charges Storm again as he tries to get back up. Scarface shoves Storm to the ground and towers over him. Storm closes his eyes and awaits the final blow.

Synca’s eyes blaze with a new flare. He can’t bare the sight of Scarface towering over the one thing he has left. Synca knows what he must do. He knows he could die, but it would not be in vain. If he was to die, he would die for something and go down fighting. Throwing caution to the wind, Synca leaps forward and attacks. Scarface lunges at Storm, but stops short when he feels terrible pain in his flank and back. He turns and sees his old rival tearing at his flank with both tooth and claw. Synca glances at Scarface with his hate filled eyes. Scarface knows that the rivalry between them will end today. One of them, will lie dead in the ground when it’s all said and done. Scarface bucks and attempts to throw Synca off. But Synca holds fast. Storm opens his eyes and watches as his friend defends him. Then, his eyes go wide with horror as Synca loses his grip. Scarface shakes one more time and this sends Synca sailing through the air. He strikes a tree and falls hard. The wind knocked out of him and his back broken, Synca is down. He pants heavily. Synca knows this is the end. But before he goes, he’s determined to see the end of Scarface. He knows Storm can do it. He knows he has to do it.

Upon seeing his friend fall, Storm finds new strength. All hell breaks loose and he charges Scarface. Scarface was too distracted by his defeat of Synca to see it coming. Storm slams into Scarface with full force. Scarface attempts to push back, but Storm won’t back down. Slowly, he pushes Scarface toward the edge of the cliff. Scarface knows what he has in mind and struggles even more. But With the spirit of his parents alive inside of him and the guidance of Synca, Storm pushes on. For the first time in his life, Scarface is powerless to stop it. For the first time in his life, Scarface is fearful. He nears the cliff edge and digs his claws in. Storm is momentarily stopped. But it will not end here. With a loud roar, Storm gives a final push. The ground beneath Scarface gives way. Scarface falls hundreds of feet to his death, roaring all the way.

Satisfied, Synca rests his head. Storm turns and approaches his fallen friend, his fallen brother. Synca looks to Storm. He has nothing left to live for. Storm will survive and Scarface is dead. Synca reassures Storm that it’ll be alright. That the sacrifice of Kano and Longtooth was not in vain. That his sacrifice was not in vain. Finally, ever so slowly, Synca closes his eyes and embraces total darkness.

Epilogue

Burial

Storm carries Synca’s body gently in his jaws. He takes his friend back to his old nest. There, he lays his body down alongside Kano and Longtooth. This, will become the burial ground for Storm’s family. He gently nudges Synca’s nose, and then does the same for his parents. Then, with tears in his eyes, he turns and moves on forever. He has a job to do. He has a family to feed. Synca will rest in peace. The fight to survive for Synca, is now complete.

That is it. The end of The Fight To Survive: Synca. I have a few things to say. First, thanks to all my loyal readers. Second, the deadline for any drawings for The Fight To Survive are due this Saturday(keep in mind I'm on the east coast of the US). Finally, I'm working on a SW story right now, but I do plan on doing two more stories for The Fight To Survive series. They'll remain secret until the SW series is underway(I'll work on both, hopefully I can do that, haha). Until then, enjoy the forums and never forget The Fight To Survive.
