New Beginning
65 Million years after her death, Thorn hears voices. The year is 1963, and Thorn was the first successful cloning attempt by InGen. She listens to what is going on, scared and confused, but she wants to be free from the egg.
"John! Come here! It worked!" Hammond yells back, "What worked? Did you clone a dinosaur?" "I hope so, it's shaking, you said you'd want to be here for the hatching, so hurry up!"
Thorn breaks out of the egg and looks at the figures above her, John Hammond and Dr. Wu.
Holy crap! You cloned a T-Rex! The first successful cloning attempt, and it's a T-Rex! I can't believe it! Good job!" Dr. Wu replied, "Thanks John, but it was a team effort, without these guys standing around here, none of this would be possible."
Thorn was still looking up when Hammod looked at her. He walked over, and she got ready to attack, the cloning having not gone perfectly and completely restarting Thorn's life, but just making her a hatchling and taking all but the best memories. Thorn still remembered how big she used to be, and she remembered Terrance.
Hammod reached to pick Thorn up, and she jumped at him, biting his finger. Hammod laughed and said, "Feisty one, isn't she?" Dr. Wu laughed and Hammod picked her up, not being hurt much more than a pin prick with every bite. He played with her for a minute before setting her back down in the makeshift nest. For the first time ever, Thorn felt truly helpless, being small and not having Terrance around.
Before you tell me about the whole cloning thing and sped up growth rate and whatnot, I know. This whole story was written before I read the book, so I didn't know.
