Ultra PredatorDinosaurs ForumClash of North and South: Spinosaurus vs Acrocanthosaurus

liked the fight but for some reason i would think deinosuchus would get him or a deinosuchus and a sarcosucus fighting over the corpse maybe that could be a battle but i was just thinking that. Good fight thought

The feathers aren't essentially that long. the feathers are averagely 30cm (15inches) long. The T.rex is just very bulky. That plus feathers, here, you have long looking feathers, although they're not really.

Thanks guys!

Good quality, though I do think the feathers are a bit heavy. But good work as usual.

Rex Fan 684Dinosaurs Forumquestion about theropods

Horns in abelisaurs/ceratosaurs are somewhat common, though most of the time they aren't really "built" for combat. Horns tend to be a defensive stucture, something a predatory, offensive carnivore probably wouldn't need. If any theropod did have horns, they'd probably used for interspecies combat/display.

It would... horns are pretty peculiar structures... especially on theropods :)

DINOSTEVE93 - How very neat! I greatly enjoy the feathered look you've applied to this animal; it provides a more interesting aspect that I find compelling! The raven-black coloration you've chosen for the feathers, coupled with the russet-red skin of the animal's face, lend it a very intimidating appearance! Thank you so very much for taking the time to produce and share this with us! :)

DinoSteve93Dinosaurs Forumquestion about theropods

I think it wouldn't be something impossible for theropods which skulls have not been found. However, on the complete skulls of theropods we have, this turns already unlikely, since these horns are often made of bone or cheratine, substances that preserve relatively well in the fossil records.

I just checked out and it seems there is a hadrosaur genus called

Huehuecanauhtlus...

I'm not even trying to spell that, everything I have to say is perhaps...

I would have to say Oxalia. I'm never sure if I am saying it right or not. It's just so hard to say for me. I'm not even sure I am spelling it right. XD Also that Dino image is awesome!

Hello, nice to meet you.

HATZEGOPTEREX . this was a giant 40 foot pterosaur from the island of hatze. But what was strange about it was that it was the top predator of its time.

XENOSMILUS.  a super muscular 500 to 800 pound saber tooth cat. What is strange about this beast is that it belonged to both groups of saber tooth cats. The two groups are schimitar cats who have shorter saber teeth but longer front legs for running. And dirk- toothed cats who have longer, skinner sabers but have shorter, thicker and more robust arms.

INSTINCTIVEGIGAN - Welcome to the Jurassic World forum! :D

As a whole, I've to say that Rhamphorhynchus has the absolute most boggling name for me when it comes to extinct life-forms! It's utterly hideous in its spelling and looks like a bad spread in Scrabble!

This was a very interesting and fun topic! Thank you ever so much for presenting this to us! :)

P.S - Your new avatar image is quite neat! :)

the spino slashed one croc in the eye, making him let go. he then stomps on his head and kills him. he then stomps on the other one, crushing the skull. now he must heal and get better so he can have revenge on the acro.

Al, indeed there are toxic birds, but none boast a venomous bite, which I was referring to.

Thanks everyone. Asf ar as the fate of the Spinosaurus, all we know is that it was dragged into the river by a pair of Sarcosuchus. I leave the rest up to you.

AlphaDino, yes indeed the colors changed very rapidly.

PS- despite what many might think, a lot of my fights that include Spinosaurus actually have him emerge as victor, so this one was a bit of a change ;)

@ something real, when they dug up a triceratops skeloton they noticed it had bumps on its bones near the hindquarters and they looked fimiliar to other animals that have quill or feathers. i am sure that trike had thses for a reason and i prevoiously stated as to why it would need them.  now i say that they were about 6 inches to 2 feet. i am unsure as to how long they were so these are just wild guesses. they were on the but and tail of triceratops. in my mind they are blue with black bands. awesome right????

If you are talking about glands like in frogs, they are more close the the neck's veins that in the jaw itself.
Rex, we do have brids that have venom, and in fact they have the same venom that the Dendrobates has. The Batrachotoxin, aparently they even rub on their own eggs to make them safe from predators, I don't know alot about it :(
As the frogss they obtain this toxic in their diet.
So it might not happen like the glands in the frogs, but thinking about the diet and the reproductive defense could be that a feathered dinosaur did the same, the only thing they had to have it, it was the font of the toxin in their diets

This fight was amazing!!!  Something Real hit the nail on the head, it was really cool having Spino changing the colours and patterns of his sail.  I'm guessing that the colours and patterns changed really quickly, can u imagine seeing something that big and that bright changing right before your eyes?!  I don't blame Acro one bit, I'd be really confused and intimidated too!!

But...poor Spino.  Getting defeated/killed by other dinosaurs is one thing, but getting mauled (and possibly eaten?) by a croc, no matter how epic a genus Sarco is, really hits me in the feels.

Nonetheless, it was well-written, and I really admire that in stories and posts on this forum (or anywhere for that matter).

Fearless prediction for the Utahraptor vs Austroraptor fight:  THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!

REX FAN 684 - That was an extremely neat battle! I liked the way in which the Spinosaurus utilized his sail as a threat display by crimsoning it! Very neat! You know, I actually was hoping the Spinosaurus would come out as the victor? He was presented as such a beautiful and fantastic animal! Nevertheless, I'm pleased with the outcome! Thank you so very much for sharing this! :)

P.S - I'm greatly looking forward to your next battle! :)

I am the last person you have to tell that to. I know all about rex.he is my favorite dinosaur.

Rex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumClash of North and South: Tyrannosaurus vs Carcharodontosaurus

The same can be said for Carcharodontosaurus(the root part) and personally, I've never seen anything stating it had teeth more than 8 inches long. Not only were those of T.rex longer, but they were far more robust and larger in that sense too. With the exception of elephant tusks and the like, T.rex had the longest teeth of any animal I believe.

Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumClash of North and South: Tyrannosaurus vs Carcharodontosaurus

I have seen a carchy tooth up close and personal and it was about 8 inches and the guy said that it would have teeth size anywhere from six to 11 inches. And just so ya know for rex some of that tooth ia root. Since it had to bite through bone it couldn't afford to loose its teeth. I am not arguing, just stating my opinion.

I don't see why there couldn't be venomous dinosaurs. They are not only related to crocs but other reptiles too, and many of them are venomous. I think that the smaller ones like epidextoterx, archaeopteryx, and sinornithosaurus were venomous. They had to be do they could fully secure a meal. And I think that some herbivourus dinosaurs had poisonous( I actyally mean poisinous) quills or other defensive measures. Like the quills other triceratops and relatives apparently had were probably filled with poison and toxins so if a carnivore tries to attack from behind it will get a mouthfull of poisonous quills. Like a porcupine, bout poisonous.

there are quite a few features that dinosaurs had the birds and crocs dont (horns and spikes for example). to be honest we cant really be sure. i mean some of the most unlikely dinosaurs couldve had it. i mean the platypus has venom glands and who wouldve guessed that an animal like that would have venom glands?

Reply
Something RealDinosaurs ForumPoisonous Dinosaurs

MECH RODAN - What a very interesting topic! I'm of the opinion that members of the dinosaur species were most likely not venomous in the traditional sense. However, some might have carried extremely virulent bacteria in their saliva (something like a Komodo Dragon) that would aid them in swiftly debilitating their prey. If I were to hazard a guess as to which dinosaur-like creatures likely had this adaptation, I'd actually go with Arizonasaurus and other similar animals. :)
