FIGHT!
As the sun rises, a lone hadrosaur grazes in a clearing. He was just kicked out of his herd to start his own. As he feeds, he’s unaware of approaching danger. Without warning, a huge male T.rex breaks cover and thunders toward the herbivore. The hadrosaur has no chance and is plowed into the ground by the predator’s huge size. The hadrosaur’s neck is broken and his skull shattered before he could even react. The T.rex rakes his toe claws down the side of the carcass, spilling the guts and hot blood all over the ground. He shoves his whole head into the steaming carcass and feeds.
Not far away, a lone male Carcharodontosaurus smells fresh blood. He hasn’t eaten in days and it’s like a dinner bell. His eyesight isn’t great, but his nose leads him straight toward the kill. As he nears the forest edge, he sees the tail end of a T.rex, the head of which is still buried in the carcass. The carcharodontosaur speeds forward, hoping to catch the T.rex off guard. As he breaks through the tree line, he unintentionally starts a fight to the death.
The T.rex has great hearing and hears the rival predator charging. He yanks his head out of the stomach cavity and swings around. As he does, the momentum of his swing and the carcharodontosaur’s charge causes them to collide head on. The smaller Carcharodontosaurus stumbles back and the T.rex roars at the top of his lungs. The tyrannosaur’s earth shaking bellow and blood covered muzzle has a bit of an intimidation factor to it and the Carcharodontosaurus backs off a few feet. The T.rex flushes color into his small head crests and they turn bright red. The Carcharodontosaurus roars back and flashes rows of curved teeth. The T.rex charges head on, knowing he has the potential to overpower the carcharodontosaur with sheer force. The agile Carcharodontosaurus sidesteps however. He attempts to counterattack, but the momentum of the charging tyrannosaur keeps him out of range. The T.rex turns and faces his rival. They stare each other dead in the eye.
The two giant theropods charge at the same time and collide head on. They engage in a shoving match, pushing and shoving with their huge heads. The T.rex shoves hard and the Carcharodontosaurus’ head slips. His jaws go low and he seizes both the opportunity and the T.rex’s arm. He shreds the arm, but the T.rex counters. He slams his head into the back of the carcharodontosaur, slamming his body into the ground. The T.rex backs off and checks his mangled arm. Luckily for him it’s not too important. The T.rex growls and snarls at his opponent. The Carcharodontosaurus stands back up and hisses like a crocodile. The carcharodontosaur attacks head on, then side steps and goes for the flank of the tyrannosaur. The Tyrannosaurus turns and intercepts the attack. The T.rex latches on to the nose of the carcharodontosaur. He wrenches back, tearing off a slab of skin. The carcharodontosaur shrieks and shakes his head in pain. He charges in a moment of blind fury. The carnosaur goes low and aims for the legs of the T.rex. The tyrannosaur easily avoids the attack though. The momentum of the charging carnosaur sends him face first into the carcass of the hadrosaur.
The Carcharodontosaurus struggles to free his huge head. The T.rex wastes no time and attacks. He grabs hold of the tail of his enemy. He pulls back, wrenching the Carcharodontosaurus free. The carnosaur turns and sees the tyrannosaur yanking on his tail, causing terrible pain. The carcharodontosaur rips his tail free and smacks the T.rex in the face with it like a baseball bat. The tyrannosaur stumbles back and spits out a few of his now broken teeth. The carnosaur takes a step forward and roars. As he takes a step, he accidentally steps on a tooth. The tooth pierces his foot and the carcharodontosaur roars in pain. He lifts his foot, finding it hard to put weight on it. This is just what the T.rex wanted.
Unbalanced and on one foot, the Carcharodontosaurus is an easy target. The T.rex charges at full speed, slamming his body into that of the carnosaur. The Carcharodontosaurus stumbles and falls hard. The T.rex stands over him and tries to go for the throat. The carcharodontosaur manages to fend him off with his hand claws though. He slashes the T.rex’s nose and rips a nostril wide open. The carcharodontosaur also kicks with his feet, slashing the legs of the tyrannosaur with his claws. The Tyrannosaurus is not phased though. He attacks again with no mercy.
The tyrant dinosaur places a foot on the chest of the fallen Carcharodontosaurus. He slowly presses down, cracking ribs and making it hard for the shark toothed lizard to breath. As the Carcharodontosaurus gasps for breath, the T.rex lunges forward. His jaws close on the throat of the carnosaur. Using his huge neck and jaw muscles, the Tyrannosaurus wrenches back and tears the throat out. Blood spatters all over the neck and chest of the dying Carcharodontosaurus. More blood spills out over the ground.
The Tyrannosaurus roars in victory. He turns his back on his still living rival. He drags the hadrosaur carcass away to eat in peace. As the carcharodontosaur struggles to breath his last, a shadow descends over him. His glazing eyes barely make out the shape of a tyrannosaur. He returned to finish him off. Just seconds before the Carcharodontosaurus finally dies, the T.rex stomps the head of his rival, crushing the skull and flattening it.
Winner- Tyrannosaurus rex
Bigger, stronger, smarter, and better adapted to heavy combat, the T.rex truly proved why he’s called the king. While a worthy opponent, the Carcharodontosaurus was doomed the second he lost the element of surprise. In the end, it was the sheer power housed in the body of a tyrant that won the day.
Next time on Clash of North and South...
Acrocanthosaurus ruled North America millions of years before T.rex even took it’s first bite out of planet Earth as the unchallenged apex predator. Spinosaurus was Africa’s aquatic assassin, perfectly designed for watery kills. What would a battle between the terrestrial terror from the north and the southern submarine of a dinosaur be like? Find out next time, only on Clash of North and South.

MemberCompsognathusOct-19-2014 12:25 PMGreat job! Was rooting for Rex. Really can't wait for the next. Just one question, will you be using the new version of Spino? If so, maybe it could help to look at my new Spino topic about his hunting techniques.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-19-2014 6:51 PMREX FAN 684 - Did Carcharodontosaurus have larger teeth than the T-Rex? I've heard, um, conflicting accounts from various associates. Over the months, I've come to respect you as a well-versed authority on theropods and would greatly enjoy your input. :)

MemberCompsognathusOct-19-2014 7:15 PMT.rex had the largest teeth of any dinosaur. They averaged about 6-12 inches long, but the biggest on record was 15 5/16 inches long. Carcharodontosaurus had teeth "only" around 5-8 inches long.

MemberCompsognathusOct-20-2014 1:11 PMI have seen a carchy tooth up close and personal and it was about 8 inches and the guy said that it would have teeth size anywhere from six to 11 inches. And just so ya know for rex some of that tooth ia root. Since it had to bite through bone it couldn't afford to loose its teeth. I am not arguing, just stating my opinion.

MemberCompsognathusOct-20-2014 1:18 PMThe same can be said for Carcharodontosaurus(the root part) and personally, I've never seen anything stating it had teeth more than 8 inches long. Not only were those of T.rex longer, but they were far more robust and larger in that sense too. With the exception of elephant tusks and the like, T.rex had the longest teeth of any animal I believe.

MemberCompsognathusOct-20-2014 1:30 PMI am the last person you have to tell that to. I know all about rex.he is my favorite dinosaur.

MemberCompsognathusOct-21-2014 6:45 PMI believe Carcharodontasaurus was bigger in weight and length, and I think it would be 50/50. But good fight!
