Very few animals these days are imported wild caught animals, which typically don't do well in captivity----
Its clear they are meant to be free in the nature and not locked in a house with humans, as i said yes you love your pets, but you have to realize what we see everyday here in my country and truts me is not a FEW, they are a lot and breaks my hearth see each shipment that police confiscated, so mainly Im trying to make you guys to understand the big picture of it, Its not good take animals from the nature, they have a place there wehre they are and not at homes with humans, I know you understand that; so is about to dont buy an exotic animal nevermore, even if the 100% of them were raised in captivity, still is not the enviroment be locked in a cage made of glass.
Is a thought, to Reflect for next time.
As for the wild trade it is a huge problem here and literally is killing some populations (humans and animals incluided) not mention of the horrible and disgusting torture the animals have to take.
I have pictures of it, not from internet- if you are curious about it carno-
I have green and brown anoles. I can't post pictures sto save my life so u can't show you:/
@Al, it is alright.
I agree with you giga, I do think carcharadontosaurids were a lot bulkier then given credit for.
Well said!! -JHAWKINS1987
Ristricted area kinda confirms about engleberts poster. Possibly the old animals from the past.
This aside it could also be to do with the trailer description. Where chris pratt talks to the raptor? "If we are going to do this, its gotta be my way" it could be a mission pratt has been sent on with the "alleged raptors" that are trained. Which would be a sick part ofnthe film, eapexially if it means hunting the d rex.
Ahhhhh i actually cant wait for this film! 4 days For the full trailer.
I know you guys love your pets, but some animals are not meant to be pets, Id encorage you guys to do not take wild animals to lock them in a human house never again, if is possible.
..While some wild pets have been bred in captivity, many exotic animals are plucked directly from their native habitats. The stress of being violently removed from their homes causes some animals to die before they ever reach a private residence. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that infant animals are the most desirable and earn dealers the largest profits. Poachers will often kill the protective mother first so that it's easier to capture the young...
Facts about the Exotic Pet Trade
Interesting
Personally i think you all expect too much. Its a teaser.
Its the 21st centary and cgi is inevitable. Be happy we have a film. The dinosaurs looked great and so did the gyrosphEre And chris pratt looked badass!!!! It was 15 seconds long and half of the world already wishes this place was real. Be thank full !
More excitment please less criticism
CARNOSAUR - Thank you ever so much! That actually helps to clarify quite a misconception I've had concerning Mapusaurus! :)
With pleasure!
Carchy has always been one of the dinos that has had size estimates fluctuate hugely over the last few decades.
We don't really have a whole lot to go off of for Carchy( Giganotosaurus, isn't a good base, despite common belief. It's within the subfamily Giganotosaurinae, which carchy is not) so i tend to use A. atokensis here for my estimates
But, to put it more simply we look at skull measurements, and the use of what i like to call "the 8ths rule".
SGM-DIN 1 has a skull length of ~1.56 meters
1.56 x 8 ~ 12.4 meters
Now, basing off of the A. atokensis holotype (OMNH 10146) we get ~7.32 tons. Off of "fran"(NCSM 14345) we get 7.63 tons
Mapusaurus is a bit iffy, really. An animal (again, that catalogue number eludes me -.-) known from a pubic shaft is estimated to measure 13.6 meters in length, and be ~27% more massive then the Giganotosaurus holotype. Which would put it easily at 8+ tons. But, the other individuals we have of Mapusaurus are generally in the 10 -11.5m mark. Acrocanthosaurus, Being of comparible length, measured in at 4 - 5 tons. For those individuals, i usually put the estimate at 5 tons. the 12 meters and up though (3 individuals) i put at 6 - 7.5 tons.
To end my rambling manner, their pretty similar in overall size...Mapu might be larger overall once this pubic shaft gets an official estimate on it
The gecko in the picture looks a bit like mine. :)
Maybe the Restricted Area houses wild dinosaurs or the D. Rex. The dinosaurs were pretty cool. The teaser definately has the nostalgia of the first film. :)
Nice explanation of the teaser. :)
I agree that a bit too much CGI was used. The gates could've been real, but the dinosaurs pretty much had to be CGI. (i.e. a running flock of Gallis and an Apatosaurus)
CARNOSAUR - I'd definately recomend ownng a Water Dragon! They're very affectionate and curious if you handle them frequently! Not only that, but they a blast to watch; they're always going about and exploring! :)
CARNOSAUR - As I've come to rely on you as a very credible source for dino info, would you be so kind as to answer a quick question? Was Mapusaurus larger than Carcharodontosaurus? I will greatly appreciate any information you can provide! :)
@SR, i've always wanted to own a chinese water dragon...they're impressive creatures for sure!
@ Sci-fi king, neat! leopard geckos are definetly some of the coolest reptilian pets you could get. Expressive littly guys
EVAN123 - You're most welcome, sweetie! You've earned it! Enjoy the praise! ;)
Take note that i'm not saying Carcharodontosaurids aren't bulky, it's just the notions you've put forward have no scientific backing behind them.
Blast it all! The image won't show! Sorry about that. :(
EVAN123 - How cute! :)
Look at its neural spines. They appear to be very long. The fact that Giganotosaurus had long neural spines is mentioned on several sources. And, if Giganotosaurus had long neural spines, well, Acrocanthosaurus are even longer. It means that Giganotosaurus spinal column carried quite high mass.
Evidence for this?
Acrocanthosaurus' neural spines have never really had a definitive reason stuck to them. But, anchoring for muscle attachments is widely accepted atm...
Let's compare the two:
Harman's most recent acro -

2013 giga -

Acro's are significantly taller, and form the prominant "ridge". This feature is not duplicated in Giganotosaurus, so it's safe to say they did not have the same function.the neural spines of Tyrannosaurus are tall as well:
Not as tall as those of Giga or Acro, but their decently sized.
Also, that cladogram you used is outdated(missing tyrannotitan, among other issues) Is it pre- novas 2013?
Here's after Novas et. al:
Cladogram after Novas et al., 2013[3]
Carcharodontosauridae Carcharodontosaurinae GiganotosauriniI have a Leopard Gecko (I believe it's a High Yellow, but i'm not sure) named Zilla.
@Raptor-401, I whole-heartedly agree.
:D :D :D :D :D :D
CARNOSAUR - Oh, they're darling! You're so very luck to have such beautiful pets! As for me, the rarest reptile I've ever owned was a Chinese Water Dragon named Hector. He passed away three years ago - but I loved him greatly and he was such a doll! Here's an image of the type of reptile he was:
GIGADINO - This is a very neat and well-presented topic! Indeed, it is quite possible that the Carcharodontosaurids were heavier than they've been presented in more recent publications. It wouldn't surprise me if such massive animals were proportionately heavy! Thank you for sharing this thought provoking notion! :)
Oh wow! Thank you so much SOMETHING REAL!! Hahaha..I'm loving this day!
X_PADEN_X - Your post was very neat! I Happen to feel that we don't yet have quite enough information to determine whether or not there will be an overabundance of CGI, though it did seem that there was quite a lot in the trialer. as for the restricted area: I happen to think that your theory concerning the wild dinosaurs is going to be validated in spades! I can't bloody wait for the actual trailer! :)
EVAN123 - You are a bloody LEGEND sweetie! This is a,azing! Thank you o very much for sharing this! :)
The Restricted Area interests me a lot! I can't wait to see what they show of it!
Bloody blazes! I can't handle this amount of awesome all at once! Heart...giving...out...
In the first shot with the gate, if you look close enough you can see the visitors center and Isla Nublar Lagoon breifly. And the large "Restricted Area" on the northern half of the island could have some interesting scenes there.
Nice, I really hope Spinosaurus comes back. I know its not gonna be the main antagonist (D-rex is), infact I dont want it to be the main antagonist, but maybe Spinosaurus can have its own exhibit or atleast a cameo. And if it does comeback I want to see it updated with the new skeleton recently announced, Though I do know Baryonx and Suchomimus will be in the movie. I do hope Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, and Spinosaurus (if it comes back) attack people atleast once just as a throwback to the original trilogy.
Paden I agree with you. The trailer is amazing however almost everything (like you said) is CGI. I would have liked to have seen actual animatronics like a real park gate, but sadly movies aren't really made like that anymore. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we do get some animatronics and things like that.
Well we can all expect a lot of CGI I suppose so it's a good thing I like it! Haha! But I mean, it is a modern big budget, sci-fi flick so its inevitable. Maybe it will be a good thing, just maybe, and I think it's perhaps too early to judge yet.
It does have a bit too much CGI, but are you really surprised?
Even then, remember from Jurassic Park that even in the novel it said Jurassci Park had technology there that was extremely advanced (At that time). They had computers that costed thousands of dollars, 26,000 if I remember correctly. Even then at that time money was worth way more back then. SO I really wouldn't be surprised that they could affor gyro balls, I think it's a nice touch.
Even then in the novel it said the logo was blue and there was gonna be a safari ride, so...
I agree with Paden that there is too much CGI.
It's...it's a dinosaur!!!
I'm hyperventilating right now, I want the full trailer NOW!!!!!
I certainly would agree!
