SVANYA - That is incredible in the extreme! I can only imagine how excited the researchers felt when they made this discovery! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! :)
SAURORNITHOIDES - You have made excellent points! I could not agree more; well said! :)
I'll go call Dr. Wu, you go call Simon Masrani.
:D
Im with the guys who think T-rex doesnt really need redeeming but if Rex redemption really is in the movie, i would totally support T-rex knocking Spino skele down rather than an actual rematch, heres why:
1. Spino and Rex rematch will be very repetitive and would make the movie more like a fan service for the Rex fans.
2. T-rex knocking the spino skele is a cleverer way to settle things between the two, a simple thought opener to promote discussions as to what would possibly happen if Rexy was the one who faced the Spino without giving out a seemingly biased conclusion.
3. If T-rex gets vengeance then JW WILL BE THE JP3 OF THE SPINO FANS.
4. Simply because if the T-rex fights the Spino, the winner will be too damn injured to fight the I-rex.
No, because why have another why you have the first T-Res you've ever seen the franchise fight a hybrid?
Dangit, Deleted my twitter... Shoot.
Still gonna try
LORD VADER - I concur! That is definately an internet-winning gif! :)
REX REVENGE - Welcome to SCIFIED! It is always agreeable to see new faces! As for your statements: I do not believe the T-rex requires redemption, for there is nothing to prove. The Tyrannosaurus Rex will always be the number one dinosaur throughout the world, no matter what; it is an animal that has been with us since the early days of dinosaur discovery and, thus, possesses a special place in our hearts and imaginations. The best thing that can be done now is to allow the years of strife between Jurassic Park fans to die down and finally cease. Nothing will be gained from rekindling the harsh feeling produced by Jurassic Park 3. I know this might not be what you would prefer to hear, but would you not prefer peace over constant and inflammatory discourse over something as silly as a pair of CGI dinosaurs chewing on one-another? Regardless, I would like to once again welcome you to SCIFIED! :)
^ Other than the redemption part (T-Rex doesn't need redemption), he's totally correct.
Honestly I'm glad they didn't do it, it would just cause outrage from spino fans and the battle will start again. I can see Indominus killing/wounding a Suchomimus which was a relative to spino, so when ready beats I rex it will be a redemption...
No, we don't need that fight.
If T-rex knocks down the Spinosaurus skeleton, I think that's redemption enough. It's a clever little moment; both being physically cool and also symbolic.
Another T-rex vs. Spinosaurus fight would just be repetitive to the franchise.
Oh, you're really lucky. Well, in Sweden it releases tomorrow, so I'll be seeing it soon too :)
Ehh... They don't really look like the Raptor Squad, but they're still pretty cool.
I believe the first part was when the raptors were about to be released.
If anything, I'm happy there won't be a rematch. We don't need more fighting. RvS is starting to die down now.
Paden, I think that gif as your profile pic wins the internet.
I think scientists need to just leave the jp franchise alone and get with the program that its entertainment, not a documentary... If they want to bring a realistic representation of dinosaurs on either the big screen or tv screens... Then they better make a walking with dinosaurs quality if not better documentary... just my 2 cents...
@paden Best gif for a profic pic ever! lol
As for jack horner... there are things i like and respect about him then there are things i disagree with him... and we'll leave it at that...
The more we learn about dinosaurs, the more we discover their immense simularities to birds, both in skeletal form, skin texture, and skin makeup.
Every single dromeosaur impression found has sported feathers. Not a single one has been scaley throughout. This pushes the idea that dromeosaurs (which happen to be most like birds) were indeed covered in feathers. All the way up to Utahraptor.
As for Tyrannosaurus, this is more tricky to debate. As of yet, there have been no large impressions of skin texture specifically from a Tyrannosaurus. There have been small fragments here and there, but nothing compared to the detailed impressions found with raptors. However, Yutyrannus completely brings feathers to light with the Tyrannosaur family. As it is well known its body was covered head to toe in feathers (due to, again, large and detailed impressions that signify were skin meets feather and amount of feather), it is now widely speculated that Tyrannosaurus itself at least had patches of feather here and there.
Think of a modern day elephant. Believe it or not, those animals are quite hairy. However, due to a blazing climate and the sheer size/mass of the animal, they do not have thick coats; just little patches here and there. Now imagine that mentality for a Tyrannosaurus. Due to the blazing temperature of North American Cretaceous climate and it itself being a very large animal, Tyrannosaurus is likely to have only supported patches of feathers here and there; not being completely covered.
And the notion that feathered dinosaurs can never be scary is absolutely ridiculous. That's only a matter of design. Imagine a feathered dinosaur, maybe a Utahraptor. Now, instead of thinking of the feathers in such a uniform and orderly fashion, make it more realistic. These are protofeathers, after all. Rough up the edges, split some ends, damage some surfaces; general wear and tear. Now, add blood stains.
Heck of a lot scarier than the naked scaley counterpart.
We are approaching a time in which we do not ask the question "Which dinosaurs are proven to have feathers?", but "Which dinosaurs are proven to NOT have feathers?" I often wonder how radically different our dipiction of dinosaurs would be if scientists knew they were closer related to birds than scaely lizards when they were first uncovered.
A writer for the South China Morning Post seems to have broken the embargo and delivered the first review:
Film review: Jurassic World -- dinosaurs return, bigger than ever
It's not a very well written or in-depth review, but it is quite positive. I haven't looked into SCMP's track record for movie reviews so I can't speak for how on point he is. Enjoy anyway.
RAPTOR-401 - That was an extremely neat story! I very much liked how you portrayed the animals you presented - especially Sicarius' desire to find a mate! Excellent work! Thank you so much for taking the time to create this and share it with us! :)
X_PADEN_X - Hahaha! Your new avatar is exceptionally entertaining! :)
TYRANNWRIGHT - This is extremely compelling information! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! :)
^It's a beautiful profile gif. Found it on Imgur.
^Sorry, but I can't take that seriously with that profile gif.
I'm sure Colin won't let the Indominus snap Rexy's neck in thirty seconds flat.
I've seen enough of this...
Hey hey hey. Play nicely. There's a new Sherriff in town, and it'd be unfortunate if one of his more larger action is to ban a member. This is a forum, Respect eachother, Even if you're fighting, try and be civilized.
And don't you dare think me Nor Raptor won't think twice on that.
Also, This is jack freaking horner we're talking about here, Whom, is in a field that constantly changes on a monthly to yearly basis. A lot of what was in the First jurassic Park is now considered Innacurate (some), Just due to what we've discovered in the last Twenty years since they made the movie. But it's still an incredibly accurate movie, even if some of its facts are inacurrate. Things change in his field, mainly due to the field just not having a lot to go off of.
He's one of the best in his field, I think he's a great choice to have working on the film. He's implemented popular dinosaur theories into the storyline, As well as including his own. It's a difficult field to implement into a movie just due to it's rapid changing. A new discovery we find Tomorrow, can change everything we learned yesterday.
I think personally They probably could've brought in some more people, But I don't know if they did or not. They could've and could just have Mr.Horner acting as the figure head for them. But, again, I don't kow.
The hybrid was a risk, But of course, it's also a movie. That is a needed risk. Hybrid is stated numerous times, Thus, I don't think anyone who's not all "into" the whole paleontology thing. (Like most of the general audience). They should be able to understand that it's not an actual dinosaur. But there's always a few confused people. Wouldn't suprise me.
There's going to be some innaccuracies, But again... Paleontology has some blank spaces here and there, That's usually the innaccuracies.
Keeping in mind,
this is just a Film, a Science fiction film none the less.
Play nice.

Tyrannwright
happy?
Why do these guys keep pushing that the dinosaurs are scientifically accurate?
If you want to have genetic hybrid dinosaurs and such, that's fine; but dont go telling the wide audience that they are correct. It's like telling a student 2+2=5. It's just setting them up to be incorrect.
If done correctly, Argentinosaurus would be a spectacle because of sheer size. Imagine the Brachiosaurus scene in the first movie but using an animal that's even BIGGER. That would be something to see.
I do hope they expand their horizons in future films with actual dinosaur species instead of genetic hybrids (like, cross-species wise). It's more fun to see animals in the JP franchise; leave the monsters to the monster movies.
Same as your grammar. :/
Well that doesn't make sense, why would the T-rex be scavenger?
No, because it's Jurassic Park. These are modified dinosaurs, not full-on. I also don't believe the whole feather thing on T-Rex, that'll just make it look like a silly giant chicken.
Jack Horner made T-Rex seem less of a fighter like it was in the previous two films and just a scared scavenger instead. Large animals with that much power don't coware from a fight.
Next thing you know they'll be demanding to see feathers on a megalodon. Where does it end? Just because a few of the smaller species of raptor were proven to have had feathers does not mean every single species of dinosaur had feathers. I see absolutely no reason to tear up our text books without conclusive evidence showing that they did have feathers.
I think they used Apatosaurus because it's a graceful, yet still large sauropod. As cool as Argentinosaurus and Puertasaurus are, they don't have the majesty or grace that Apatosaurus has. It's too bulky.
No. The theory of feathers on large dromaeosaurs and Tyrannosaurs is in no way, shape, or form proven. This is just people wanting to complain.
I agree that most of the time these predators would not even bother however; there can always be a catalyst. One such scenario could be the Acro intruding into Rexxy's turf. Like any apex predator I believe Rexxy would be protective of its' perceived turf. Mind you Acro could always step aside when faced with a threatening Tyrannosaur but suppose Acro was very hungry and had just made a long awaited kill, would it step aside and risk starving or would it defend its' prize?
If threatened with starvation I see very few predators willing to step aside and believe Acro would attempt to defend its kill. After several moments of bellowing and posturing they would warily engage. T. Rex's distinct weight advantage would immediately become evident and the fight would be over as quickly as it started with Acro backing off after taking a shot or two, deciding that the possibility of starving is still better than a near certain death.
T. Rex 90/10
What do you mean Jack Horner screwing T-rex?
With the info given, provided they thought a fight was worth it, Rex 80-20. Even the lightest Rex outweighed the heaviest Acro by a solid 3 tons.
Normally though, they take one look at each other and keep on walking, or Acro backs down.
