Good fight, I was rooting for Acro. I thought it was bigger though, I guess it'll still be in DD9097LS, but it'll be one of, if not, the smallest one in there.
Cool dino, psyched for the fight. Just about to post my first classics fight. I have decided that there will be 3 different series that I will be rotating through, Mezosoic vs Ice Age (next post after my 1st classic fight), Classic series, and of course, my regular. Good post Carnosaur!
Cool! Is he the male from the Lost World? And great chapter as always :)
@Elite Raptor,
I think I said Leedsycthis was bigger to Mr. Happy as well, such an awesome fish isn't it?:)
@Carnosaur,
Oh believe me I know its still a giant shark, biggest shark to ever live. I was just saying it might not have been 60-70 ft shark. And I believe the same sizes as you.
Thanks guys, just a few more chapters (Terrance comes back in the 28th chapter).
That's a cool dinosaur, looking forward to the fight.
Damn shame too, we may never find Spino's true size, and that sucks.
Welcome! Spinosaurs once lived in swampy marshes, but it is now harsh deserts. Over time the spinosaur fossils just eroded away,
glad you like it! a fight will be posted soon if you're curious, suggested by Kaijufall
Unfortunatly people can't see your side of the argument sometimes...but that's probably the most likely scenario. Something buried just inches below the surface is going to be revealed, and bones(or fossils) can't with stand much of that really. Just look at this:
That's solid rock, carved away by wind erosion.
That's always what I've said, with the sand destroying the fossils, but people always said I was biased for thinking only the largest Spino skeleton could handle it.
welcome! and the reason we don't really have any spino remains.....is probably due to fossilization bias. What was once a swampy land is now a harsh desert, with high force eroding winds. Not much is able to take a few millions years of that
Great chapter.
Welcome to Scified, Zeeshan!
Welcome.
As far as how few Spino fossils we have goes, only a few fragments are currently known. Not only is Spino a rare dinosaur to begin with, but the Sahara is brutal on fossils, making fossils in general rare.
As far as it's bite force goes, based on the fragments we do have and the skulls of other spinosaurs, we know it's bite force was not extremely high. High simply because of it's size, but not T-rex high. I often estimate it at 3,000-5,000 psi.
Well, to be exact we don't know the bite force of any extinct animal for sure, we can make an educated guess, but that's it and if i remember correctly (My memory is incredibly bad) there haven't been any calculations that were nearly as precise on Charcarodontosaurus than on Tyrannosaurus or Albertosaurus, because the jaws of Charcarodontosaurus are so fragmentary, so to clear up your question: They simply cannot calculate the bite force of Spinosaurus and Charcarodontosaurus as precise as Tyrannosaurus because their jaws are so fragmentary.
Well...........I await the day they find a complete spinosaurus skeleton :P
One other thing that i wonder is why can't they calculate the bite force of spino? Is it because of an incomplete skull or something?
I'm pretty sure they don't have a complete carcharosontosaurus skull either but they found out its bite force?
I'm not new, it'll be about a year since I joined in mid March. You can find out a little bit about me in my 'about me' section in my profile.
Hi, I am also relatively new here, I joined last November, and as for the Spinosaurus bones, recently found a Spinosaurus jawbone as shown on Planet Dinosaur, available on Netflix if you want it, but other that a couple teeth that is about it. Hope that helps and welcome to the Jurassic World forum.
Hi, I'm pretty new here myself and as for Spinosaurus it's because a)would you rather dig up fossils in the sahara or in montana? and b) they are pretty rare. ;)
Hi.
About Spino, the problem is that the bones are so rare. Take a look at my Basic opinion on Spinosaurus, you'll see what I think.
Great chapter. I wonder how Rexy will react when they lock her back on her paddock and she can't get out.
This is defintely one of the best series going on right now and it is very helpful. :)
you say it's a bloody MEGALOSAUR, then you go back to being a Spinosaurian? uh, alright. While in the Megalosauria family tree, they have their own group, based on obvious anatomical differences. Don't be a smart ass.
You....obviously don't get how these things work. A picture is not PROOF. at all. the 46 foot estimate is probably the more accurate one any way. 60 or even the 80 foot fanboy estimates are just B.S. and 20 tons? yeah, no biped can weigh that much if it is to remain on two legs. "it seems bulky based on reconstructions" well i have bad news for you mate, they're probably wrong.
Just FYI, my sources have actual discoveries by paleontologists, while you've posted what? one sorce that said spinosaurus jaws were WEAKER THAN A CROCODILES and pictures of skulls? you do need its body, especially when you have 5 neural spines, a few vertabrate and parts of its jaws. good proof mate, good proof indeed. My sources don't mean i'm 100% right, as no one is in paleontology. They just make me a tad bit righter then you.
I guess i over analysed the whole thing ;)
Great chapter, I'm having a good time trying to imagine what's next, haha.
Well, tomorrow will say :)
It's unbelieveable how much, poor Thorn, had to endure.
Fully agree MrHappy. Meh, it seems I have nothing to say anymore, everything was already stated earlier :/
I would like to formally apologize for all the negative vibes coming from members of Team Spino. I come back and Godzillasaurus is here raising havoc and everyone is protesting, and who knows about Spino Rex. These sorts of heated arguments shouldn't be happening. We can all agree to disagree. I am on Team Spino, but largely I agree with what you all say. I have pointed this out many times, that jsut because you are on Team Spino doesn't necessarily mean you think Spino is the top predator.
Personally, I believe that Spino and Rex would be equally matched in a fight, as I stated a while back in my "T-Rex = Club, Spino = Spear" theory. But because Spino and Rex never would have actually met on the battlefield, I agree that much of what you all say is true.
Granted, there is some truth in Godzillasaurus' theories about Spino, but he shouldn't be shoving his theories down your throats.
I hope all of your opinions of Team Spino have not lowered. Please accept Team Spino's apology, and know that it is still full of calm, sane, and understanding members.

such an overlooked animal! definetly deserves more spotlight..
still, a 40 foot shark is impressive. My thoughts are it was 40-50 feet long, 50 being its max
good to hear kdj!
