The Journey Continues

I must have been standing still for a minute. I just watched two Tyrannosaurs fighting to the death, but were stopped when the female showed up. She wanted the one her brother was fighting to be her mate. I guess when something as powerful as Terrance is matched for strength, all the females would want to mate his adversary. To be fair, if it wasn't for the fact that they were siblings, she'd probably have mated with him by now. Haha, Tyrannosaurs having higher moral standards than some people. Take that trailer trash.

I stood up, threw the RPG over my back and grabbed my SPAS 12. I looked up at the building. Well, what was left. I hope the guys made it out alright. I climbed a flight of stairs figuring I'll be able to find them from higher ground. When I got to the top of the stairs, I saw the guys were already up there.

"Hey guys, you alright?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Shaken, but fine otherwise."

"You scared? Get real."

"You would be too if you were face to face with a T-f*ckin'-Rex. Haven't we had this conversation before?"

"I don't know, did we?"

"Yeah, we did. That time when I came face to face with TNT for the first time."

"Oh yeah, I remember that. You shat yourself."

"Um........ Yeah. That's it. That's the day we had this same conversation."

"You shit yourself this time?"

All three guys started laughing. I rolled my eyes and told them to screw off.

While the guys were laughing, I looked around. From where we stood, I could see the next building south. Damn, considering what this island was used for, there sure are a lot of buildings. Probably secrets that only the InGen higher ups and scientists knew about. We won't have time to discover all the secrets, but these buildings are great for giving us shelter.

"Alright guys, there's another building south of here. It looks to be about 10 miles out. We'll have to spend the night in a tree, but we can make it there tomorrow."

"I don't like sleeping in trees though."

"That's your problem. If you don't like sleeping in trees, then sleep on the ground under it."

"Are you serious? Do you know what happens at night?"

"Do I look like I give a shit? I'll be sleeping in the tree out of everything's reach. Now then, I'm headed out right now. Follow me if you want, or don't, doesn't matter too much to me."

I suppose that's lie. I do care. I suppose that's always been my problem. I've always cared. I've cared about people who wouldn't give me the time of day. You see, I've never been anyone's first choice. I feel accepted by someone and I care too much. I feel accepted by these clowns, but at the same time, I feel like if an easier way out comes up, they'll take it and leave with or without me. I wouldn't do that to them, and it hurts to think that they would do that to me.

I got to the bottom of the stairs and walked about ten feet from the building remains. I turned and looked behind me.

"Well?"

"Just a minute, I have to piss!"

"Hurry up then! I want to get as far as possible before dark. If we hurry, we just might make it."

That wasn't a complete lie. It was noon now, sun sets about nine or so this time of year. If we covered a mile and a bit an hour, we could make it. Problem is, these lazy pieces of shit won't make it. I could do it no problem, but these three are different. They're a special kind of stupid. They aren't stupid as in don't know anything about anything and could be easily replaced by puppies. No, they're stupid as in there's an angry T-Rex and they're trying to take a selfie. They're stupid as in we're on an island full of dinosaurs and they're walking around without a gun in their hands. They're lacking in common sense is what they are.

The guys all came down the stairs and started walking towards me. They didn't have guns in their hands. I gave them a dirty look and they got the idea. They all grabbed their assault rifles. I had a shotgun. They've got 30 rounds before they need to reload, I've got 9. I've got the firepower to kill with one shot though, so I'm cool with that. As we walked, I listened to them talk. I doubt they knew I could hear them, but maybe they didn't care.

"He's such an arrogant bastard."

"I know. He's all like 'come with me or not, I don't care' but he really does care. He knows he's nothing without us."

"Yeah, if it weren't for us, imagine where he'd be."

"Probably in a pile of shit."

"Raptor or Tyrannosaurus?"

"Both?"

"I could see it."

Zach piped in.

"He almost got killed by a Spinosaurus."

"That was when he lost his eye, right?"

"Yeah, it was."

I couldn't help but roll my eye. I'd be a hell of a lot farther if I didn't have these ungrateful pricks to look after. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have lost my eye in the first place because I wouldn't have to get near as much food. I could have killed a small creature and eaten it and I would have been fine. I had these three pricks to feed too though, so I couldn't. They bitch and bitch and did I mention that they bitch? I'm hungry, I'm cold, I'm tired, I don't like sleeping in trees, bitch, bitch, whine, nag, complain and do shit all.

Fast forward a few hours and, surprisingly enough, we made it. They only bitched for the last ten minutes, though it could have been three hours or an eternity for all I know, and I didn't lose my temper listening to them talk about how great they are and how I essentially owe them. They talked about how I'm simply "earning my keep" and how I "need to work harder" because they "work too hard". They talk like that and I'm the arrogant bastard?

The building was small and pretty much empty, but it'd make a good shelter. It looked like a shed more than anything. It was about ten feet by ten feet. There was a door and one window. The window had bars over it. I feel as though there's more than what meets the eye in here, but it's too dark to tell.
