Moving
Bryce and I got to the roof. Bobby asked how it went.
"It went pretty good. Got tired of reading profiles on these something Rexes and decided to come back up."
"What are we going to do now?"
"I don't know. We can't stay up here forever. We need to find more supplies soon. Closest building is about eight miles north."
"We can't leave now, it'll be dark before we get half way."
"Not necessarily. I saw a Jeep in the garage. If it works, we can drive it to the next building. Be there in maybe a half hour depending on the road conditions."
"What roads?"
"C'mon, it's a Jeep. We don't need no stinkin' roads. Just kick her into four wheel and give her hell."
"Sounds fun."
"As much fun as we're going to have here. Now pack up and let's get going."
We all walked downstairs. We walked to the garage with our stuff and when we got to the Jeep, threw our stuff behind the back seat and climbed in. It was decided that I'd drive.
"Shaggy, you do realize there are no keys, right?"
"Watch this."
I flipped down the sun visor and a key chain fell out. I stuck the key and the ignition and turned it. The Jeep fired up after a minute. I let it idle while I opened the garage door. I could tell the Jeep hadn't been running for years. When the door was open, I climbed back into the Jeep. I put it in drive and started heading for our destination.
"How's this compare to your Jeep?"
"I like my Jeep better."
"Why's that."
"Mine is lifted, has a brand new set of 40's, heavy duty axles, a built up 350, a five speed manual transmission, it's loud, it has dual exhaust, the sound system is loud as hell, mine's a two door, and all kinds of other reasons."
"What's the main reason."
Without even thinking, I responded with, "Built mine from the ground up. It was a burnt out shell with a ten inch lift and small block Chevy V8."
"Yeah, your Jeep is pretty sick."
We had been driving for five minutes. We couldn't go much more than a few miles an hour because of the terrain. I had put the Jeep in four wheel drive, and we had needed it in places. I've never been a fan of four door anything unless it was a truck with an eight foot bed, but I found this Jeep to be sweet. Not as sweet as my Jeep, but pretty sweet. Everyone had put all their stuff behind the seat. No one had a handgun, or a shotgun, or anything on them ready at a moment's notice. No one but me that was. I had the SPAS 12 laid across my lap as I drove.
We hit a rather bumpy patch in the road and had to slow down. We continued at a decent pace after clearing the bumps, and the sun was starting to set. We drove through a spot where the trees were thick and blocked the sunlight. It was dark and I turned on the headlights. We kept driving, but the path was narrow and I had to go slow to avoid crashing.
Suddenly, we were hit from the side. The Jeep was launched off course and rolled several times. When it stopped, we were upside down. My head was pounding, my arm was numb, and I could taste blood. I looked at the guys. They had already unbuckled their seat belts and started crawling out of the wreck. I unbuckled mine and started crawling out as well. I looked around for the shotgun as I crawled out. No sign. The guys were already on their feet, and I told them to come to my side. They did, and we ducked.
Whispering, I said, "Guys, we've got to do something, and fast. We have get away from whatever the hell it was that flipped the Jeep, and we need to get away now."
"Why don't we hide in the Jeep?"
"No, it'll be back. Whatever it was, it'll be back."
"How do you know?"
"I have no doubt it was a large predator. Maybe a Tyrannosaurus Rex. A large predator will come back to its prey after an attack. That was the attack, it thinks we're wounded. It'll be back to finish us, well, the Jeep, off."
"So what should we do?"
"See those trees over there?"
"Yeah, why?"
"We make a run for them. Climb them as fast as you can."
"What if it comes back?"
"That's why I'm staying behind."
"Shaggy, are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
The guys all started running, and I kept watch. Whatever had attacked us was nearby and I knew it. I looked around. I saw movement. I also saw my shotgun. It was on the opposite side of the Jeep. I went for the shotgun. Damned if I do, damned if I don't, and I'm not going down without a fight.
I walked slowly around the Jeep and grabbed the shotgun. The creature still hadn't moved. Maybe if I slowly back off, it'll leave me be. Just the same, I took aim, not very steady as I didn't have the stock, but what good was this anyway? I'll buy myself some time, stock unfolded or not.
The creature started walking closer. I felt and heard the steady booming as it came closer. Definitely a T-Rex. All I had was a shotgun, and a T-Rex was coming closer. It wasn't TNT, there was only one Tyrannosaur coming towards me. I looked back, and the guys had made it into the tree. Now I had to make it.

SR, I try to be around when I can, but free time is something I just plain don't have as of late. To tell you the truth, I don't mind though because I'm not bored. I have stuff to do and I'm in a better mood because of it. I post here when I can, but by the time I have Internet time, I check the forums and go to sleep.

SR, go figure, I spend my summer working 60 hour weeks (made some good friends at work), and I dread going to school because I have to see my "friends" (because I made actual friends at work, I realized how crappy my school friends were and use any and every excuse I can to not hang out with them at lunch).

MemberAllosaurusOct-13-2015 7:28 PMCool chapter, also I get the weird feeling that after reading this I think you maybe liek Jeeps?
And looking forward to the next chapter, it's good you seem to be happier. I don't post a lto as much as I got more schoolwork but in case I don't respond to your topics, just remember I most likely read them but didn't find time to comment.
IT'S TIME TO DU-DU-DU-DU-DUEL!!!
