MemberCompsognathusSep-10-2015 1:51 PMSad news today because National geographic a creditable scientific society Is now owned by Rupert murdoch the head of fox corporation.
Now he owns 73% of Natgeo which could not be good for the paleontologists scientists and paleobiologists that work for Natgeo.
with national geographic now owned by this corrupt pile of crap what's going to happen?
I don't know what to put here

MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-10-2015 4:00 PMLOPSQUID - Fox Network is not a "corrupt pile of crap". They, like all business entities, are present to make a profit. NatGeo will continue to flourish as it always has. Fear not. :)

MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-10-2015 5:58 PMLOPSQUID - Oh, it will be okay! National Geographic is present to show us the wonders of the world - to amaze us with the beauty that surrounds us each and every day! That is the definitve nature of NatGeo. It will not change - can not change. I am certain that we will continue to have many wonderful and awe-inspiring presentations from them in the future, regardless of the network to which they are linked! :)

AdminAllosaurusSep-10-2015 8:19 PMNat Geo is already garbage, have you watched it recently? Half of what they show now is psudo science reality tv nonsense, has been for awhile. It's only going to get worse now that Fox owns it. Shame really, when I was little it was the best science based nature book/ magazine and tv show. One of the first things I read on my own was their hard cover series for kids about science and nature. :(
Something Real
MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-11-2015 9:09 AMSVANYA - I am shocked! I have not seen the television presentations in quite some time. The knowledge that it has begun to decline is deeply displeasing; it should have remained informative and filled with beautiful imagery. Regardless, I feel we should keep our chins up! :)

MemberTriceratopsSep-11-2015 11:26 AMI remember getting little books from this. I haven't seen or read it in a while but this is quite a shock. I agree with Something Real. Now that it's owned by a new company lets hope they help it and not the opposite.

AdminAllosaurusSep-11-2015 2:51 PMThis is one of the documenaties that made me lose faith, they did a mocumentary like the megalodon and the mermaids one from Discovery only its with dragons. Basically saying they were real...
Raptor-401
MemberAllosaurusSep-11-2015 4:40 PMSvanya is right, I remember watching the Mermaid "documentary" and thinking the whole time of who let that honest BS get on live TV and being presented as fact, and to my surprise so many fell for it. I mean none of the "scientists" there were even real scientists; they were just actors.
Although to be fair for the Dragon documentary, it did say the creature never existed, though it still was annoying to see they did it.
IT'S TIME TO DU-DU-DU-DU-DUEL!!!

MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-12-2015 8:57 AMRAPTOR-401 and SVANYA - Ugh! I had no idea National Geographic and Discovery were producing such nonsense! I greatly enjoy documentaries concerning extinct and mythological creatures; however, to dress such shows up as "reality" is quite strange. It feels almost as if both entities are lacking for new content. Hmm...I shall certainly think upon this quite heavily. Even so, I thank you both for bringing this information to my attention! :)
