MemberTriceratopsSep-05-2015 9:51 AMHi all,
In the first book of Jurassic Park, Ian Malcom dies right? In the second book he is alive with injuries. How is that possible? I'm on page 65 so I'm not that far in. Is there an explaination in the book?

MemberCompsognathusSep-05-2015 12:16 PMBook 2 was ment to be more of a sequel of the movie.
I don't know what to put here

Oh so not so much as a sequel to the book but as the movie. Or just for fun we can assume they thought he was dead but he made it out alive :P.

MemberAllosaurusSep-06-2015 10:20 AMThe Lost World novel is a sequel to the first book, however when I last reread Jurassic Park it never says Malcolm actually dies. And in The Lost World he exaplins he seemed dead.
Apparently I read that Crichton did it like that on purpose just in case he made another Jurassic Park novel.

Ahh ok, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks. I'm so hooked on this book it's so good!

MemberAllosaurusSep-06-2015 1:08 PMI also don't remember it saying he died. All I remember is that when they asked abut them, Muldoon just shook his head. In the second book, I forgot exactly what happened. :P

Yeah it did say that in the first book, so I assumed he was dead xD.

MemberAllosaurusSep-06-2015 5:09 PMLast I remember it was Dr. Harding who shook his head when Grant asked about Malcolm. PersonallY enjoyed the second novel more than the first one, and the first one was really good. After you finish I suggest you read Crichton's other novels if you like this one, such as Timeline. (I loved that book a lot!)

MemberAllosaurusSep-06-2015 5:28 PM^Now that I think about it, you're right.
(My dad read Timeline when we went to Colorado. I've been thinking of reading Congo but I never got to it.)

MemberTriceratopsSep-06-2015 6:45 PMI'll do that, thanks. There are some things in the book that I wish were in the movie and some things in the movie that I wish were in the book. Either way I love the books better than the movies. The movies I love too. #JurassicParkFTW

MemberAllosaurusSep-06-2015 8:05 PMTimeline had a similar "formula" to Jurassic Park, there was the antagonistic CEO of a huge company on the break of creating something the world thought they wouldn't see, and there are some other characters similar to those in Jurassic Park.
And Sci-FI King Congo was pretty good, really does make you think about what a human really is and is a fast-paced adventure all throughout.
And I love the movies and the books just as much, I like the differences, it allows for two different stories but are the same thing, if that made any sense lol

MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-09-2015 10:29 AMVIRTUALVEL - Oh, we all know Ian Malcolm can not be killed! Looking at the above posts, it would appear that your question has already been accurately and thoroughly answered. Regardless, I certainly hope that you enjoy The Lost World! Levine is such a twerp - but I adore him! ;)

MemberTriceratopsSep-09-2015 12:12 PMI agree and so far I am loving The Lost World. There are times I'm on the computer and I want to get off of it and read more of the The Lost World. Is there a Jurassic Park 3 book?

MemberTyrannosaurus RexSep-09-2015 3:41 PMVIRTUALVEL - Sadly, there is not a third entry with regards to the Jurassic Park novels. However, the two we have are exceedingly neat and entertaining! You should definately take every chance you have to step away form the computer and indulge in a little reading - it is very good for you! :)

MemberAllosaurusSep-09-2015 4:17 PMIn addition to what Something Real said of there not being a 3rd Jurassic Park Book, I just wanted to say it was mainly because Crichton didn't like to do sequels (He was basically forced to write The Lost World by Spielberg, haha) and Jurassic Park 3 was made before he could even start, so he decided to never make another so he wouldn't cause confusion as well.

MemberTriceratopsSep-09-2015 6:41 PMAw I wish there was a third book. Oh well, guess I'll have to re-read the first and second again :D. Now I want to watch the second movie lol.
@Something Real
Speaking of getting off the computer and reading, what if we did this thing where lots of members read the first and or second book and then we talked about it. Or we could do that for the movies. You know kinda like a book club meeting type thing :P.
