Power
We went down stairs to grab some extra clothes for me. I was talking to Bryce.
"So, down here are some labs and other rooms that have names that sound like they have cool shit that went down in them at one point or another."
"And?"
"Well, they take a card key get in, but we didn't have any and we didn't find one. Besides that, we need the power to be on."
"Well then, let's find some shit and figure out what the hell happened."
"Shaggy we missed you and your lets get shit done and maybe get ourselves killed in the process attitude."
"Haha, we haven't died yet."
"You almost did."
"But I didn't. Nice to see you walking on your own."
"Yeah, feels good too. Hurts like a bitch but I can walk."
"Better than hurting like a bitch and not walking."
"True. What happened to your eye?"
"I was getting chased by a Spinosaurus and had to jump off a cliff to escape. Thought I was going to land in the river, hit some branches instead. One brach gouged my eye out."
"That sucks. Room on the left is the one with the clothes. I'll give you some privacy."
"Thanks."
I walked into the room and looked around. There were lab coats, dress pants, dress shoes, fancy shirts, and various other clothes that looked expensive. Where are the cargo pants and tank tops? I kept looking around, but had no luck finding any practical clothing. I grabbed the largest pair of pants I could and a lab coat. I put them on, but damn were the pants tight. I looked around in the pockets, and I found a key card. I went back to the hallway.
"Looking sharp Shaggy."
"I'd rather wear the shirt diaper. These pants are tight as hell."
"Why didn't you grab a bigger pair?"
"These were the biggest ones I found. This lab was probably run by Asians, or midgets, or Asian midgets. Check this out though."
I showed Bryce the key card and we started walking down the hallway. We looked in every room that was open, and didn't find much. We kept going down each floor, searching all the open rooms. We hit the armoury, and I walked in.
"Shaggy, you already know what's in here, let's go."
"I want to give it a second look. You go ahead without me, or wait outside. I don't care."
"I'll be outside the door."
I looked around in the armoury. It looked the same as before, but I hadn't gotten a very good look at it. I looked down. There were some drawers underneath the weapon rack. I opened the drawer and dug around. There was a pair of cargo pants. I quickly changed my pants and kept looking around. There was a long sleeve shirt. It was noting special; plain black. I never was a fan of long sleeves, so I changed shirts and tore the sleeves off.
I continued looking in the drawer, but all it had was clothes. Didn't need those anymore, so I opened the next drawer. It was loaded with ammunition. No variety, just the same ammunition; 12 gauge 2 3/4" dragon's breath. It offered no power advantage over regular 2 3/4" buckshot, but the muzzle flash was a sight to behold and it was capable of burning whatever it hit. I grabbed several boxes and stuffed it in my pockets. When my pockets were full, I moved onto the next drawer. I opened it up, and there was only one item in it. When I saw it, I grinned ear to ear.
I picked up the shotgun, a SPAS 12, and examined it. I cycled it, both semi automatic and pump. I felt the chamber area, the firing pin, the extractors. Everything was spotless. I unfolded the stock and shouldered it. It was even better than I expected. The preteen me would have wet his pants with excitement.
I found everything I needed, and I walked out of the room after loading the SPAS. Bryce looked at me and got wide eyed.
"Holy shit man, where did you find that?"
"In the one drawer underneath the rack."
"Are there anymore?"
"Would've grabbed one for you if there was."
"Damn. Let's go."
The rest of the rooms were locked. We couldn't open them, so I grabbed the map. It had been in my shirt when I changed, and I had put it in the lab coat pocket. When I got the tank top, I put it in my cargo pants. I looked at the map of the building, and the generator was on the bottom floor. We needed the flashlight to go any deeper into the building, and Bryce turned it on as we went down the stairs. It was dark in the first hallway, and I looked around. Nothing of much value to us.
"Dude, turn the flashlight off and check this out."
Bryce shut off the flashlight and looked into the blackness. I took a shot with the SPAS 12. The hallway lit up from the dragon's breath.
"Holy shit! What the hell was that?"
"Dragon's breath. It's a kind of tracer round."
"It's freaking awesome."
"Hell yeah it is, now let's keep going."
We walked all the way to the basement and found the generators. There were four, all connected. We looked at them, trying to figure out how they work. There were buttons, all kinds of buttons. There were red buttons, yellow buttons and green buttons.
"I've this before Shag. You go to press the green button, and boom! Surprise bitch, you just f*cked up everything."
"I know. Would be nice to have an owner's manual. I've seen it before where you hit the yellow button, then the green button."
"Let's try that."
I pushed the yellow button. We heard a humming sound, and then Bryce went to push the green button.
"Not yet, give it a minute."
"Alright."
We listened to the humming, and we listened for something out of the ordinary. We heard a series of clicks, then all the sound stopped. I pressed the green button. We watched as the lights flickered on and off before staying on. We didn't say anything as we left the basement. Now we're going to find out just what this building had. I had noticed something on the map that said 'Classified: Species #002'.
This isn't part of the story, but I have a question. I could post an entire discussion about it, but I'll just add it in here to make things easier.
As most of you know, I have a Jeep. It is a 1987 YJ (same headlights as the JP Jeeps). When I got it, it was a burnt out shell. The thing is lifted 10". It's converted to small block chevy V8. The JP Jeeps had the factory straight 6 engine, which weren't very efficient or powerful. My Jeep has all kinds of other work done to it, making the thing maybe 10% factory (and that number is falling with every part I get my hands on).
Here's a JP Jeep.
Here's my Jeep.
What I want to know, is if you guys think I should paint my Jeep like the JP Jeeps, or if I should leave it as is. I know, it's my Jeep, I can do what I want with it, but I want to know what you guys think.
