MemberCompsognathusApr-26-2015 1:42 PMOkay first off allow me to introduce myself. My username is Siks (pronounced six) and I'm new to being on Scified, but I actually got most of my JW news from this site before I even registered.
Anyways back to the topic at hand. As we all the know the T.Rex from JP obtained the affectionate nickname of Rexy from fans of the film. In the new JW film, fans will be introduced to a new dinosaur/character; the Indominus Rex. I think it is our duty as fans to give this new character in the JP franchise her own affectionate nickname; so what can you guys think of?

MemberTyrannosaurus RexApr-26-2015 2:32 PMSIKS - Welcome to SCIFIED! It is always extremely agreeable to see new faces! Hmm, a "nickname"? This is a very compelling notion! I would call her "Indi" - a play on Indominus. Thank you for presenting this fun and interesting topic! Once again, welcome to SCIFIED! :)

I agree with @Something Real's idea. Indi sounds like Indiana Jones, another film series I like.

MemberCompsognathusApr-26-2015 6:15 PMFirst, Let me welcome you to our forums in the Rememberable words of Richard Attenborough,
"Welcome, To Jurassic Park,"
Quite challanging, Quite indeed. It'd have to be something new... as good as Indi sounds, it's too close to Dr.Jones... I personally don't know if I-rex will get a Nickname... Well, Besides probable curses in the movie.
The term Indominus, has it's origin in the word: Indominant, meaning that the object specified with it is "Impossible to subdue or Defeat," Looking back at it now, It kinda looks like I-Rex lives right up to it's name...
With Rex meaning King as usual. I-rex is an Impossible to Defeat King. Not a tyrant, But nigh of indestructable. (Just food for thought)
A fitting nick name might not come for a while... But of course, they can be easily started.

However, the way in which I present a person's user name is by generating it all in bold capitols. I certainly hope this helps, and I definately hope you enjoy the site! :)

MemberTyrannosaurus RexApr-26-2015 7:36 PMX_PADEN_X - I chose "Indi" as homage to Indana Jones! I know, I know; I am playing favorites! I can not help it; ever since I was teenager, I have had a major crush on Dr. Jones! ;)

MemberTriceratopsApr-26-2015 9:51 PMWelcome to Scified Siks. I think that Indi is the best name we have for the newest monster, only because there isn't much material to work with, and no similar nickname does her justice. It's the same thing with dubbing the JP T.rex "Rexy", and that's only because a mercenary character from Jurassic Park: The Game decided to call her that. Not very scary.
Yeah sure, it's so similar to Indiana Jones' nickname, but they have the same prefixes, so again, not much to work with.
Imagine if instead of adaopting "Rexy" as the JP T.rex's nickname, imagine if she was just called "Rex"? I wouldn't be able to go without 2 seconds of thinking about Wallace Shawn voicing Rex from Toy Story. There's not much material to go on.
And the full name is really why we are so scared and intimidated by these animals. Tyrannosaurus rex rolls off the tongue really well and is very intimidating, which is why the name was given. Indominus rex just sounds so badass, I get goose bumps just saying it, much less someone else saying it.

MemberCompsognathusApr-26-2015 10:23 PMThank you all for the warm welcomes. I really appreciate it. You guys have presented some good points regarding a nickname for the I.Rex. It's either Indi or nothing for now (or forever), but we could always pay homage to the main raptor from JP but instead of calling her "The Big One" we could call her "The White One" or something along those lines. Who knows, maybe in the film they'll already have a nickname for her.

MemberCompsognathusApr-26-2015 11:55 PMWelcome to the forums! I'm JPCertao, or JPC for short, I hope you enjoy your time here. I also agree with the name "Indi or Indy" but like stated above it may be cursed with words by victims such as the ACU memebers before being slaughtered...I also agree with "The Big One" or "The White One" I also like "The Albino"...Hahaha find that amusing for some reason. But I think it will be referred to as "It" or "Thing" but maybe "The Clever One"...

MemberCompsognathusApr-28-2015 5:42 AM"Rexy" is the nickname Muldoon gave her in Jurassic Park: The Novel.
I get the feeling some of you are so young, you have yet to read it.

MemberCompsognathusApr-28-2015 6:52 AM@Peter Zanetti No I haven't read the novel and I'm not sure if I plan on doing so considering I've spoiled too many details for myself (except for the Rexy bit).
