Fight!
The dragon was flying over the calm sea. He could see a shoal of tuna and some sailfish. Deciding he was hungry, the dragon (let's call him Drake) descended to grab a tuna. Suddenly the silhouette of something huge boiled forth from the depths. A dark shadow rose and lunged out of the water. Drake just managed to dodge before the monstrous creature, fifty feet long and twenty tons, crashed back into the water. Once again, it burst out of the water, showering the dragon with water, displaying surprising agility. This time it caught drake by the wingtip and tore off a bit. Drake was furious. He skimmed low over the water and when the mosasaur king came close, he blasted it with fire. NOTHING HAPPENED! The water coupled with the mosasaurus's tough skin to create a biological fireproof vest. Drake tried again. The blast slowed the mosasaurus (let's call him Grimkahn) but otherwise did nothing. Trying another idea, Drake dodged the mosasaur's lunge and crunched down on Grimkahn's back. The tough skin easily deflected the bite. Drake's heart sank. There was nothing he could do to injure his rival. He barely evaded the mosasaur's next strike, but wasn't fast enough to avoid the devastating snout ram that followed. He fell like a stone from the sky, listing to the left, sure his ribs were broken.Grimkahn opened his mouth wide and snapped down on Drake.
Grimkahn roared in victory. He dove down deep to digest his meal. But something was wrong. Blood always gushed pleasingly down his throat when he crushed the life out of prey. It felt weird. Where was the blood?
Drake thought he was incredibly calm given the fact that he was inside Grimkahn's mouth. He wasn't able to dodge that ram, and he had known that. And he couldn't harm Grimkahn with fire... from the outside. What he hadn't tried... was attacking from the inside. Not totally inside, since Grimkahn's mouth was open, but he was staring down the mosasaur king's gullet from between Grimkahn’s teeth, and that was close enough. Drake gathered energy until he felt like bursting, mixed it with a bit of life force, then released. The pressure on his back slackened. For a moment all was silent, then the mosasaurus’s head disintegrated into charred pieces, falling to each side of Drake. The mosasaur’s body crashed to the seabed. After a moment blood gushed forth from where Grimkahn’s head used to be. The water was clouded with blood, and Grimkahn was finally dead.
AND THE WINNER IS……… THE DRAGON!!!!!!!!!
Intelligence and the ability to fly overwhelmed the mosasaurus’ brute strength this time. And yes, I know mosasauruses had a second pair of jaws to swallow prey (and if you don’t, well then, mosasauruses had a second pair of jaws to swallow prey.) but I learned that after I wrote this and I thought this would be more fun anyway.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMar-05-2015 11:05 PMANKYBEATSALL2468 - Wow! That was quite a vicious battle! I very much enjoyed the way in which you described both animals - especially the dragon (I absolutely adore dragons; I have between 15 and 20 plush dragons)! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! :)
