length: 20 feet.
height:5 to 6 feet tall.
weight: 470kg
weapons: bite, hand claws, toe claws.
disasvantages: slightly less agile, somewhat weaker arms.
utahraptor.
length: 24 feet.
weight:: 475kg.
height: 5 to 6 feet.
disasvanteges: slightly weaker bite.
advantages: stronger arms, more useable feet.
this would be a truly epic batte with the victor only winning by the feather on there snout.
arms: the raptor arms are longer and likely stronger but the allosaurids arms are seriously leathl and no joke.
builds: i would say the allosaurid is the bulkier one but this large droneosaurid is surprisingly robust. But the allo is probably just slighty more bulky.
bite: the allo has the more effective bite but the dromeosaurids jaws were still strong but just there teeth are more designed for gripping and tearing rather then sling chunks. So the allosaurid gets the advantage. Plus, it may even have a hatchet bite.
who.will.win!?!?!!?!?
I say Utahraptor with a score of 50.5/49.5. Ya, it would be THAT close.
What are your opinions?

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 2:07 PMBased on N. salerii, shaochilong would weigh ~420kg. this would put Utahrapor at approx. 18% heavier then it.
this is indeed a close one, i'd have to say 50/50. no real definitive edge for either.

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 2:20 PMYes, I'm fully aware of that. But I said it is a parity battle.

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 2:38 PMi don't see that anywhere.
in that case, though, this is still 50/50. at least in my opinion

As we can see, this basal carcharodontosaur had some impressive jaws. It would not take very many of these bites to take out the drom.
all i got for now xD

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 3:10 PMInsert Pics of utahraptor's huge killing claws here.
wont take a lot of kicks to take the allo out.

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 3:20 PMthe claws of dromaeosaurs were not used for killing, but more for gripping/ stabbing.
while it is true they could use their claws in a raking maner (akin to large pantherines), i do not believe that they're a primary killing tool. those would be the jaws

MemberCompsognathusMar-06-2015 3:25 PMThe hand claws would take and slash. The toe claws would do the same. utaraptor has claws much more blade like then other dromes. Which means they were maid for cutting rather then stabbing. And yes, they did have powerful bites they were more designed for gripping and tearing.

MemberCompsognathusMar-09-2015 6:54 AMIt is spelled: Shaochilong
And I would highliy doubt the success of any normal theropod that is pit against a comparable pound-for-pound dromeasaur.
Dromeasaurs were agile killers. Comparing their anatomies and implied behaviorisms, I highly doubt that Shaochilong would even know what hit him if he encountered a Utahraptor.

and the allosaur and dromeosaur are the same size. It would be a great fight imo.
