Here we go..
The sun began to shine brilliantly onto the grassy plains of isla Sorna, awakening a colossal flesh eater from his three day slumber. The male Acrocanthosaurus groggily got onto his taloned feet, shaking his head feverently. A thick cloud of flies surrounded his impressive maw, trying to get at the bits of flesh clinging from his teeth. He gazed over to the ouranosaur carcass, from which he had been feeding for the last few days.
Searing pain radiated from his left forelimb -- a permanent reminder of the interaction he had with a bull Torvosaurus the week prior. It was a territorial dispute, nothing major persay, but enough to make him flee his forty square mile territory he had called home since he was a juvenile.
Hunger had gotten the best of him a few days after the incident, and when he had been skulking around the rocky foothills to a nearby mountain range, he had spied the iguanodontian. it was by itself, and rather oblivious to his presence. He took the oppurtunity, killing the plant eater outright with a defining bite to the back of the neck. the kill had been quick, and once he had eaten his fill, layed down next to a dying sequoia tree. Sleeping off the pain usually made it easier to cope with injuries.
Little did he know, though, this was the home range of a female saurophaganax -- a big one at that. She had dominated these foothills and most of the adjoining mountain range since her subadult days, mainly through sheer force and aggression. she bore the scars of many a interactions, some interspecific and other intraspecific confrontations.
Needless to say, she knew what she was doing.
On her routine patrol of the foothills, she caught wind of a familiar smell -- rotting flesh. Her curiosity peaked, she began to walk in a hurried but ever so cautious fashion in the direction of the tempting aroma.
Unfortunatly for her, her scent was being carried by the breeze right into the direction of the Carcharodontosaur. He didn't know what animal the scent was coming from, but he knew it probably meant trouble. He snorted, and then let out a bellowing, resonating roar.
this was a warning.
the sound caught the allosaur off guard. She stopped in her tracks, lifted her scarred snout to the air, and inhaled.
another predator.
She gave a high peaked shriek in response, before trotting towards the location of the kill. When she came around a large beige boulder, she saw him.The Carcharodontosaur was snapping his head about in a very bird like manner, stamping his feet. He knew just as well as she did there was another large predator in the vicinity.
She came around the boulder, growling in a very guttural manner. the Acrocanthosaurus snapped his head in her direction, and bared his teeth. He placed one massive foot onto the dead ouranosaurs' flank, snapping his jaws in an attempt to frighten the Allosaur off.
She met the gesture by giving another high pitched shriek -- this being close in proximity, exploded in the Acrocanthosaurus' ear drums.
She took the oppurtunity, rushing the equally as large predator and snapping her jaws down on his snout. Alarmed, the acrocanthosaurus pulled back with significant force, pulling the allosaur with him. When this occured, the Saurophaganax lost her grip, and was sent stumbling past the Carcharodontosaur. He took the oppurtunity, biting down on the nape of her neck and shaking her like a rag doll.
this wasn't just a territorial dispute or a fight over a carcass.
this was a blood fight now.
Using his momentum he had gained in shaking the allosaur in his jaws, he thrust her to the side.
Had she fallen, the fight would have been over for it would have likely killed her. However, that wasn't the case.
She was sent stumbling some twenty yards, before fully recovering her balance. she spun around angrily, seeing that the Acrocanthosaurus had dismissed her and turned to the carcass. She paused and took a moment to assess the situation. The warm sensation of blood trickling down her neck sent her into a frenzy.
She began to run at him once more, letting out a more guttural shriek this time around. Before the Acrocanthosaur had time to turn and react, the Saurophaganax had come in from a diagonal, biting down with significant force on his back. Crying shrillily in agony, he tried to turn around to retaliate.
But she was relentless. She began to claw at his thigh and back, creating massive laceractions. the blood began to flow, pooling rapidly as the Carcharodontosaur tried to turn around and fight back.
When the Saurophaganax moved to reposition, to make a more lethal attack, the Carcharodontosaur span around with suprising agility, catching her on the side of the neck with his jaws filled with shark-esque teeth. He sunk his teeth in, shaking her like a ragdoll once more.
This time, there was no sound. the Allosaur gave little resistance, and when the Acrocanthosaurus definetively threw her to the ground, the pearly white vertebrate shown brightly through the flesh. His violent shaking had nearly decapitated the Saurophaganax.
Snorting dismissively, the Acrocanthosaurus turned back to the tree he had been sleeping under. it would be a while until he recovered from his injuries. As he closed his eyes, a flock of Ornithocheirus glided over noisily...
Author's note: this one was a close one! The Carcharodontosaur was dimensionally larger though, and it just boiled down to the factors of the two individuals here.
Odds: 55-45 in favor of Acrocanthosaurus

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJan-24-2015 8:11 PMCARNOSAUR - That was a fantastically superb battle! I always take a great deal of enjoyment from the way in which you detail your combats! Of course, I may be a bit biased as I absolutely adore Acrocanthosaurus - my all-time favorite! Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share this with us! :)

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJan-25-2015 5:23 AMNice fight, though I was rooting for Sauro. Ah well, can't be the one you want every time. Nice work, and a fight from you is a nice treat to see from time to time.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

MemberCompsognathusJan-25-2015 3:32 PMFigured Acro was gonna win, I was going to question your judgment if it didnt. An interesting but short fight, kinda dissapointed this wasnt the Ceratosaurus against that Ceratops but you will get to it eventualy.

MemberCompsognathusJan-25-2015 3:42 PMGreat fight as always, first one I've seen since coming back from a long, long Break. Rooting for Sauro, but still a great fight nonetheless.
